New Cartoon Made By Punch Newspaper Sparks Reactions On Social Media.

The Punch Newspaper has released another cartoon about current happenings around the world. The new cartoon is a comparison between Nigerian and American institutions.

The cartoon shows the leaders of the two nations and their attitude to the police. The picture shows that the police in the United States of America is more powerful than their leaders. The leadership of Nigeria controls the police force.

The cartoon is motivated by the current happenings in the United States, despite the enormous power given to the president of the country, he still finds it difficult to manipulate the institutions for his interest. The president lost an election but he is unwilling to relinquish power to the winner of the poll. All the American institutions worked against him and defended the country's constitution and democracy.

There are a lot of lessons for Nigeria to learn from the scenario. We must create strong institutions and not strong leaders. Institutions that will be more powerful than the leadership of the country. What happened in the United States might not happen in Nigeria because our institutions are not strong, they serve personal interest rather than general interest.

The cartoon has generated different reactions from Nigerians on social media.

Why will a naija police challenge the president while when he look into his future, past and present all he see is poverty

The easiest way to get a man submit to all your whims is poverty. African leaders know this and they make use of it very well

Nigeria is a useless country with a terrible media. The media in Russia, India Japan etc cover events in USA much more cautiously knowing full well that the US media themselves are part and parcel of the political struggle but the "news" carried by the Nigeria media merely reflect the views of the incredibly left leaning mainstream US media. No wonder nobody takes them serious outside Nigeria.

What an irony! The US have strong democratic laws and institutions that help to contain the excesses of its leaders & citizens while contrastingly in Nigeria, both the same institutions & populace are @ the mercy of the tyrannical government.

Just imagine what would have become of Nigeria if the loyality of the armed forces, DSS, NPF, NJC, EFCC, NLC, etc are not to the president but to the nation.Even the president is a public property, so he is also answerable to the Nigerian people or nation.

Yet you will hear someone like Femi Adeshina boldly telling us that "addressing Nigerians is not Buhari's style", or that "because you elected Buhari does not gives you the right to command him anyhow"(including demanding accountability), forgetting that he is just holding their mandate.

The widespread insecurity nationwide is still taking its toll on Nigerians who demanded via the NASS that the service chiefs be changed & renewed vigor infused into the self inflicted war against insurgency.

Yet Garba Shehu will come out yesterday to tell an already beleaguered & distraughted nation that "Buhari Sees What (200M)Nigerians Don’t See About Service Chiefs" Same president Buhari that have countlessly claimed to be unaware, surprised or shocked about happenings right under his watch in Nigeria?

For those who don't understand the meaning : The first is a Nigerian Junta and the second is depicting US where the loyalty of the armed forces is for the people and not the leaders

Nairaland number one wailer. Your hypocrisy stinks to high heavens.
We can all see how the Nigerian police was doing what is represented in the image attached below to Jonathan and OBJ you worship and support for 16 wasted years.
We read about how policemen will go into the 2 former presidents office and lambast them on a weekly basis.
And we can see how all that change when Buhari became president.
That is why it is only your fellow wailers that support your trash here.
And not good Nigerians, that never voted for either PDP or APC.
You are only pained your thieving and looting lords are no more in power, not that you care for the masses.. we know ur type.
Hatred kills more than coronavirus......btw!
It is not easy for a man to defeat your 2 gods in consequent elections......Unprecedented in our nation.
So we understand your daily wails and cries....2023 here we come! tongue
