For the information of those ignorant ones among us, the figures quoted by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control is far less than what is going on ground. I have insiders at IDH in Lagos and the deaths reported there in one day is higher than the one reported throughout the country on same day. And majority of those dying are elites and high society people. They have over 280 patients of COVID on admission. Yet the stupidly ignorant people are talking gibberish here that government is just spewing fake figures. Yes! The figures might incorrect for many reasons. Poor information gathering due to poor health system already existing in Nigeria is one reason. The second reason is corruption. But the actual figures are far higher than what the government is stating on daily basis. If you love your life observe social distancing, wear your mask, wash your hands and stay safe. A word is enough for the wise.

lockdowns are not feasible in our society and will even be counter productive. We don't have those structures neither is our economy robust enough for a lockdown...Our clime and dynamics here is quite different from that of Europe. Our last lockdown was total nonsense and shouldn't even had been...with all the present suffering and partly due to the last lockdown, you want the FG to go for another lockdown?... Even the Government knows it will be counter-productive...Also Corona here ia not as potent as what we see in Europe or US

Maybe you are right

But the problem is, Nigeria as it stands does not have the health resources to deal with a full blown covid epidemic

If lockdown slows it down, good. Yes high economic costs, but the cost of having an US level outbreak...is worse

El rufai that spent over a month in isolation is not promient enough for you?
The whole bunch of Katsina state elites that had to go into isolation because of one superspreader katsina doctor not elite for you?
Atiku's son as well?

Thanks for the reminder.

You brought back my memory.

I have lost memory of the likes of late Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Late Abba Kyari and the likes.

Does that change the fact that he then brought it to Nigeria?

Exactly lockdown is not the magic bullet.

Ban international flights from Europe and US for the time being. Nigerians were coping well with the old strain. We don't need to grapple with a new strain now. It can be avoided or at least limited.

Hmmmm. Why do we have paucity of thoughts like this in Nigeria?

A lot of Nigerians are actually treating covid as malaria. God has just blessed with very good immune system in this country else we would have been packing dead bodies.

Covid is real, you may not believe in it but don't brainwash others and force their opinions down their throat.

Don't be careless.

Covid is real and you will never know how it will affect your system.

God will help us sha in this country. Country of careless leaders and clueless followers.

from the look of things Covid is not as bad in sub sahara Africa as it is in Europe and the US. WHO has given reasons why Africa seems to be least affected...maybe one will say we are lucky in that aspect. If covid would have ravaged us it would have since. Remember the projection of millions of deaths in Africa, then later on it never happened... Scientist started giving theories why Africa never had it that bad

People like you should stop misinforming others . Stop spreading fake news online. If you really believe that there’s no such thing as Covid-19 then you and most Nigerians and all the others who champion lots of conspiracy theories should stop. It’s bad and one of reasons the virus is gaining strength.

What do you mean by advanced malaria and typhoid?? You’d be surprised at the statistics in Nigeria if proper data is available.

Did you read the part where this doctor’s O2 was said to be 100% and in less than 24 hours, he condition deteriorated leading to his death??

It’s sad that even amongst educated folks, there still exists pessimism and self inflicted ignorance. That’s worse than the pandemic.

I have friends who went down with the virus, as someone who at some point exhibited the symptoms, I find it offensive when people like you come online to spread this type of information.

Corona virus is real. Socially distance yourself, wear face masks, practice good hand hygiene and personal hygiene, avoid crowded places and isolate yourself when necessary.

FG has been insincere, they fabricate and peddle untrue figures of covid-19 cases in order to feather their nest, every thoughtful person knows that the pandemic is not that severe in Nigeria as it is being reported. All that is happening now is to justify N400bn budgeted for the purchase of covid-19 vaccines, after all politicians are preparing for 2023 elections and this is one of the golden opportunities to swell their bank accounts for smooth running of their campaigns.

Our politician don't need covid fund to loot, they have been looting before COVID-19 and they will continue to do it after COVID-19

Today, we lost 3 members of my medical constituency in Lagos. 4th one is a pathologist and son to one of the late three. He is in d ICU presently....

Lagos is in trouble now. The spike in cases is overwhelming the system. The B blocks closed in LUTH after first wage has been reopened and is full.
Govt is no more sponsoring treatments. It is you and your family. Oxygen is in short supply. Provision of oxygen to the patients is critical to staying alive. *Yesterday all non emergencies in LUTH has been suspended and all resources are geared to covid19 care*
Admission deposit LUTH=100k
Reddington =10million
Paelon=5million
Other places 2million-4million
Cost of treatment 300k/ day.
Lagos State Hospitals+IDH deposit ? Free but your family will buy everything. Oxygen is being pushed to the black market. To refill your cylinder at the plani 20k/ cylinder.
Black market 50 to 100k depending on availability and desperation. Patient require 8 to 16 cylinders/day. So multiply 20k to 50k times 8 to 16 cylinders/day ie approx 200 to 500k/ day.
Why to maintain oxygenation in inflammed lungs you require 6litres oxygen per minute.
This does not include Remdesivir, ivermectin etc.
Source of funding is family and friends. My friend admitted to IDH says you run out of funds you perish.
So wearing face mask + shield + distancing + hand hygiene is discomfiting.
However, contracting the virus is not only more physically discomfiting. It could bankrupt you and your family and your enemies are unlucky they die.
The key is to educate your wife and children. They are the weak link. Train them to create a family bubble.
