My poor dad fell for it and was scammed #2.5 million, some fraudulent customers pleaded with him to give them cash, that banks had closed and connived with some fraudulent First bank staff to send him a fake alert, being an old man, he fell prey to their mischievous antics. It shall never be well for any yahoo boy, or anyone defrauding people of their hard gotten money. Those guys shall die a miserable death.
how is that even possible? Will it reflect in the bank app and disappear? I don't receive alerts, I log in to check.

Let me explain how it happened for some people to learn, these guys always work with an insider, the mistake my dad did was to give them his phone number, and unfortunately for him that was his bank alert number, so they called their mole in the bank, because my dad had previously given them his account no, for the customers to pay in the money he gave them cash, the mole in the bank then ran some checks on my dads account and knew how much he had in his account, so they sent the fake alert carrying his balance alongside the fake credit alert, so my dad being naive believed them since the fake alert reflected his current balance, he never suspected any foul play not until the next day he received an alert, instead of reflecting the #2.5 million the criminals sent, it was his old balance that was reflecting, I felt for my old dad.

I hope he survived or was he able to get back his money? I am curious
He survived my bro, I think I felt the brunt more than the old man, he was smiling the next day I called him, I really felt for him, to have lost such an amount in these difficult times, he would bounce back, those guys would reap what they had sown a thousandth times over.

thanks. Didn't he arrest them?
That can be proven by providing bank statements or did they abscond with their loot immediately?

The thing was that he didn't realize that he had been scammed until 2 days later and there was no CCTV at his shop to capture their faces, my dad refused vehemently to go to the police, even after much persuasion, he is a very calm man, he never let anything bothers him, that's my dad, I just spoke to him now, he never want to hear of it again, the man wants to live long. That money would have gone a long way in his biz.

How does recharging ones phone related to checking acct balance

That's his own method of helping himself, recharging his phone will let him know his current balance details because his bank will send him one via text message after successful transaction..
