This Chinese man is installing HVAC systems for train stations on the Lagos Ibadan railroad. His company is paying Chinese workers 1 million naira per month, which is 10x more than they pay Nigerians for the same work. What he is saying is true, expatriate deserves more pay because of high technical know-how.

We don't really need anyone to tell us. We just do not have a culture of perfectionism. We do everything in an eye service way just to finish up and collect our pay. I experience this across all professions.

I wish they would hire expats in the government. To be honest, colonial rule would be better than the current situation.

It’s same all over the world
Germany pays expat more than someone who lived in the country
I know many Indians who came on working visa and get massive load of money and funny thing the jobs are same

They get away with it because we have no people oriented government- it's not wholly a question of skill.
There are Nigerians with world-class HVAC skill -infact ,the HVAC system of GZI aba plant was done by Nigerians. The problem is that to justify the presence of expatriates in our country, they have to claim that Nigerians do not poses that skillset. And most times they go a long way to make it so.

Even if we don't posses that skillset ,we can learn it but the Chinese and indians do everything possible to prevent technology transfer to countries with loose labour laws like Nigeria and black Africa. Yet that's how China grew (very draconian labour laws). You can't operate in china without a very large percentage of skilled staff being indigenous-hence ensuring technology and skill transfer. But in the case of our country, our government can't even give an accurate and detailed report of expatriates in Nigeria

You are brainless. Here in the United States, Indian expats will take 1/4th of what an American makes in tech industry, and I'm sure its the same thing in Germany. You Nigerians are so stupid -- always talking on issues you know nothing about.

Where in Europe would they pay Indians more than locals? Europe is not Africa.

It has nothing to do with skill but more to do with colo-mentality.

Try to build a house in Nigeria, their inferiority complex will show. They will give you two prices: import v. local material. I saw local steel, slate, marble, tiles etc that were imported compared to local. Indeed, some locals are sold as imported.

Take a plumber or iron workers imported into Nigeria called expatriates that have Nigerian engineers working under them.

Las las, Nigerian builders go to Cotonou to recruit tile and marble layers. Better than oyinbo or Nigerians.

Train and supervise Nigerians, they will do a better job but you have to hold down the lazy ones.

I went to one of the restaurants and I was surprised by the service. The owners are JJC from America.

It's the same in many fields. Do you guys know that all the teaching hospitals in the country have top floors that can get you any doctor in many fields if they are not available in Nigeria, like inside a five stars hotel. Yet our politicians run out for headache.
