What do you mean by rag tag insurgents? Google the rating of BH among terrorist in the world and you will understand the severity of the situation. Terrorism fight is not an easy fight anywhere in the world no matter how advanced your military is. Those countries you mentioned are still battling with it till date, with even french soldiers killed in Mali last year. Certainly, the fight will linger on for a while

how can you stop a thriving business?
As for the Mali, Somalia, Liberia, Congo and Sierra Leone,the UN wanted Nigeria to end it quickly but Boko is good business.
US will supply Boko arms and also supply Nigeria arms.
Military guys will get their cuts and houses in Dubai,few soldiers will die,few Boko boys will die,new recruits will be taken by both sides,and the cycle continues.

They need innocent soldiers to risk their lives so that they can prove to the world that they are serious.
