few will enter no doubt. But you won't have a Malaysia or India like situation where every yahoo boy was going in and out
And South Africa. Those in Malaysia have moved to SA.

Even as South Africans are very xenophobic, they are still going there?

Back then and even till now Canada doesn't really advertise themselves like other developed nations. Hence why people use to run to America or UK, and they're now in Canada. Those countries are professional marketing firms. Also the stereotype that Canada is unberiably cold.

Lastly, Canada is surrounded by ocean to the east and west, then America to the south, and the north pole to the north. It's the hardest country to sneak into honestly.

...until Nigerians topped the list of asylum seekers grin

Everyone is talking about Canada, many Nigerians are fleeing Nigeria to Canada every day. My mind tells me the country might "cast" for Nigerians soon because anything Nigerians do en masse doesn't always end well, just name it - business, profession, school e.t.c.

Please note that i'm not trying to discourage anyone from fleeing to Canada or anywhere outside this hell hole of a country, I am also planning to japa soon. grin

Guys, what do you think? Will Canada cast for Nigerians soon? Will it become harder to immigrate to due to some shitty things some of our countrymen MIGHT indulge in like visa overstays, marriage fraud (for papers), scams e.t.c?
don't believe the hype..most people talking about going to canada are neither qualified nor have the finances..

That's not sneaking in. Its their right. Most have been deported or are sitting in a cell waiting to be deported. The US visa approval in which they came in from have bee reduced.

Hey maternal, question for you.
Do asylum seekers get detained in Canada?
I thought it was only in the US where a person seeking asylum could be detained.

If they're a danger to public safety or public health. So if you have a criminal record, a disease that can affect citizens, etc. But they must be satisfied with your identity before they even think of letting you go.

once the assylum claim fails you are given a time frame to leave. If you dont leave you become wanted. When nabbed you will be detained and deported. Takes about two years to finalize the assylum claims

Besides it takes a very long time to get PR even if your asylum claims succeeds, most province in Canada don't grant PNP to Refugees...

It doesn't. You're officially a PR on paper at least, and will get all the benefits.

I'm still an EE candidate, I have checked many PR steams for Provinces and they will always exempt Refugees, check very well.

I think the government gives Refugees open work permit in Canada and leave them to process PR by themselves...

I always wonder how do people get arrested on immigration ground in Canada given that I never come across an inland immigration checkpoint in Canada.

The only places I have to deal with immigration are the port of entries when returning to Canada.

I have seen videos of the UK border agency and US immigration establishing inland checkpoint to deter illegal aliens. France has the same system as well where immigration officers would walk around a city checking people immigration status.

In Canada , the immigration doesn't check people inland. So, how do illegal immigrants get arrested and deported from Canada?

12 year ago, I met a student from Zambia who ended up by getting deported from Canada. How could this happen? I have no idea.

Another guy from Burundi got deported. Same question running into my mind.

they have your address, the know where you work, very hard to live in canada illegally and not worth it, most things are linked to social insurance number. Many turn themselves up

They have all your details from DNA, biometric, address, etc. CBSA also has an inland division. Their sole job is to track down people who are suppose to be deported, but are hiding illegally. Lastly like someone said, if you're hiding they'll destroy your life. Everything is linked to your sin. They'll make sure you can't work, freeze bank accounts, etc. The border service knows what they're doing.

Europe does that because they're very racist. If a police randomly stops me, that's a lawsuit and that police will be disciplined.

I have never seen the CBSA inland too. I know they have an office in Regina, just beside one of my company's office, and that's probably the only time I have seen them outside border locations. That being said, that location is also close to the Regina Airport.

In England, border officers would often wait at the exits of tube stations. It's more of racial profiling because most of those they stop are non caucasians. An Argentinian or Brazilian or South African that is white will have a lesser chance of getting stopped than a non-white. They also often target or raid factories and businesses based on tips from people.

I know you are one of Trump's supporters on here. So that was my reply was the way I typed it grin

This line of anti-immigrants and populism doesn't work here in Canada. Only if you know the amount of refugees Canada has been accepting for years and still accepting. Aslong as you are a genuinely fleeing persecution. When I became a citizen, the Minister of immigration that signed my certificate was originally a refugee from Somalia. He came to Canada in 1994. We welcomed thousands of refugees from Syria and most recently from the US. Churches, organizations and private citizens can apply for refugees to move here.

One stupid conservative leader (Maxime Bernier)
from Quebec broke away from the regular conservative party here after he started a discussion about Canada accepting too much immigrants. The mainstream conservative here did not buy his ideas. He formed his own party with an ideology similar to that of the republican party under Trump on the US - meaning he leaned further to the right. He got a few deplorables on his side.

Guess what happened, the citizens came for him and shut him down for his racism. He came at position 6 out of 6 in the last federal election. He also lost his riding while he was at it. Prior to losing his rising because of his anti immigrant and nationalist stance, his dad held that seat for 13 years, while he himself held it for 12 years before deciding to lean further to the right He is politically finished now after the rebuke grin
Read up:
https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/10/20/canada-maxime-bernier-populism-peoples-party/

Ps - The ideology of the mainstream conservative party here is very similar to central politics in the US i.e. not too far from Joe Biden's ideology. I almost voted conservative in the last Canada's federal election sef. AOC, Bernie, Rasheeda and co in the US will be right at home with the governing Liberal Party of Canada Lol
For some reason, I didn't even get a notification that you replied.

Canada and the USA are different and there are reasons why conservatives in the USA are much more different that the conservatives in Canada. The political climate in the USA is now much more polarized than ever before but that one is story for another day.

As for Joe Biden, I'm not optimistic that he'll do anything lol. He has been in office for 47 years with no real achievement to boast of, he won't change America now. Don't raise your hopes.

He's also an old man. There were much younger people the Democrats should have backed - Tulsi, Yang and some others.

Tulsi is what I would call a centrist and would have supported her over Trump 100%. She's the only one who seems to understand the plight of both sides instead of demonising the other side to feel righteous.

Yeah, Joe may be a centrist by your definition, but the people who put him in power are far from centrist themselves. He also doesn't look like someone who will stand on his ground against his party if needed.

Anyways, I wish the USA luck. I don't expect him to do shit though, It's just like saying Buhari would change Nigeria. grin

From what I have watched on border patrol, they act only on intelligence report. Someone reports a case and they move, or if an illegal gets arrested then they forward their case. There is no point stopping random people on the street.

Exactly. They're also undercover and wear plain clothes. No fancy uniforms. There's a lot in the Toronto area.

Lol atall, I won't be surprised. But the part where you said people voting for tribe and religion over merit also got me because I saw people fron the north saying they won't vote for obi after the video of him saying the church should take back their country (a flaw in his side tho, cuz religious politics 👎🏾) but also the tribalism issue is so bad that even the so called younger generation is not innocent twitter has gotten so toxic from it after elections and leading up to Lagos guber

It will not cast anytime soon, Nigerians are not even the highest immigrants to Canada globally.

Canada does not let anyone in, they select only the best. Most people are not even eligible to go to Canada. Entering into Canada is not easy like UK.
Well said. They think canada just allow anybody to migrate to their country.
