I see why they sacked 4 pilots and they couldn't pay staff salaries. Nigerian employers are relatively wicked... |

Proliferation of airlines in the country should promote competition and drive down the airline fare |

When everybody starts launching like this, it means a big contract is coming into the aviation sector for sharing sooner or later. That reminds me, pilgrimage with premium from FG. DG,MD positioning contractors or Politicians burying their loots in so called investment |

dongc:It’s fake news. No firm order was placed. Their adverts are for ATR-72 flight officers |

Nightalan:there's nothing big in the aviation industry the profit margins is thin and nothing spectacular that Nigerians want to pay for. |

abnot:You need to widen your research horizon...do you have firm order documentation or for lease orders through lessors??.. Every article is reporting same.... https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/99545-nigerias-green-africa-airways-to-debut-with-atr72-600s

dongc:This article states that they’d debut with ATR72 which is what I mentioned earlier.A220 orders from Africa will usually make the news. When air Tanzania orders for 4 A220s it was all over the news with Airbus also commenting about the order. Same thing happened when Ethiopian ordered for its first two A350s. Same thing happened when airpeace became launch customer for embraer E2-195. May be the plan to order in the near future but as at now I seriously doubt. A220 order log, deliveries and backlogs are available online. Green Africa airways is not mentioned there. Are they leasing these 50 jets ? |

dongc:Came across Airbus A220 orders graph as at october 2020. The orders they've got (firm orders) are marked in light blue. A commitment is not an order. Our media somehow convinced the nation to expect 50 A220s for green africa when an order has not been made. May be an order will be made in the future but as at today there is no A220 order from green africa.

abnot:You cannot rule them out entirely....it may come from a leasing company....this chart has 5 orders from undisclosed african airline, another from undisclosed customer....anyways all the best to them...hope they succeed and treat us well not just cash out ... |
| Re: 4 Airlines Set To Launch Operation by abnot: 8:05pm On Feb 04, 2021 |
dongc:I’m positive about them as they have an experienced board. I only went to read further after the media outburst on the 50 orders. Based on my findings green Africa is trying to lease some ATR72 turbo props from GTLK leasing . Green Africa signed some sort of MOU with Airbus with details not revealed but firm orders usually involve 25% down payment and a contractual agreement between both parties. I suspect some American investor is trying to invest in the Nigerian aviation market and is financing green Africa as an SPV for that purpose. This will increase capacity in the industry but arrangements like this still lead to huge capital flight unlike a Nigerian based airline where the all the investments are home based. With time we will see how things roll out. |

abnot:Huge experience in the board....here is directly from airbus website not a media frenzy... https://www.airbus.com/newsroom/press-releases/en/2020/02/airbus-and-green-africa-announce-strategic-partnership-with-mou-for-50-a220s.html Money coming from kuramo and fcmb https://www.finsmes.com/2018/07/green-africa-airways-completes-undisclosed-series-a-financing-round.html FCMB will provide Green Africa with access to up to US$31m in a combination of standby letter of credit and rolling working capital. https://travelnews.africa/news-single.html?id=4764&title=Green+Africa+airline+partner+FCMB+for+revenue+collection%2C+%2431m+access%2C+loan+for+pilot+training%2C+othe I mentioned they planned to get initial a220s from a lessor...
