That stuff is death. The last move of that thing should be in 2018. Till date if you think am kidding call and calabar base dude who knows what’s happening around him and ask when last the monorail was use. Even though we’ve had whole lots of convention and activities in that master piece edifice and dignitaries stays in the Tinapa’hotel which the monorail was meant to take them TO&FRO from the convention centre. Until Nigeria as a whole are ready to learn the ethics of maintenance please they should stop wasting the tax money on this kinda projects. My own cent.
True, it has been lying unused which is very sad. Same fate the befell the cable cars at Obudu ranch.

Stop all this hype, Nigeria had a functional rail system since independence, it just got bad during the late 80s because of poor maintenance.

2.5 kilometres is a trekable distance, your calabar monorail never worked just like the one in portharcourt.

We can have an intercity rail system because our governments dont plan their cities, we also lack the infrastructure to support them.

The information you just talked about is outdated as the calabar monorail died during Dukes tenure.

Cross River started a free fall into decline after their oil wells were taken from them and given to Akwa Ibom in a calculated move by federal authorities to prevent them from falling into Cameroonian sovereignty. I don't think there are enough economic activities within to generate the needed IGR to provide them with what their government would want now. Donald Duke was lucky but also ingenious.
It's laughable each time I hear the flimsy and inconsequential excuse of oil well taken away from Cross River and given to Akwa Ibom.
To start with, Cross River state never had any oil well apart from the offshore oil resources located in the sea of Bakassi and Cameroun. The same boundary issue that made them lose Bakassi offshore oil to Cameroon also made them lose the onshore oil resources to Akwa Ibom. Its a boundary issue.

nigeria is a failed state, nothing works, even north korea better pass nigeria in certain things
Chair, North Korea better pass Nigeria in many ways. No even try south Korea, e be like space hotel compared to Nigeria.

This rail Mata dun dey board since, everyday na audio improvement. Due to bad infrastructure planning, bad debt planning, no project accountability, etc.

Many wishful and needed projects are good but the contractors or organizers of these projects, are all about biting in from the project budget.

This type of project should be on going in all 36 states.

The Calabar International Convention Center is one of architectural masterpieces in not only Nigeria but Africa and the world . I'm very proud that the structure is located in Calabar . Though now the structure stands lonely , yet that's just a tip of the iceberg of the futuristic structures and highrises coming to the Kingdom of Calabar within the next 15 years .

The third photo is a drone footage of the Monorail moving at high speed towards the Convention Center.

The fourth image is a view of sunset from the Marina Resort
Wow this is impressive I never knew that there's something like this in Calabar.

A team lead by one mechanic looted chairs while some other touts broke as many window glasses as they could.
The public address system was looted.
Those are the aspects missing when we visited in December.
Still awaiting government committee on assets recovery to state all that was stolen
