Hypocrisy Of CNN And Other International Media Outlets by Mishaya: 4:59pm On Jan 19, 2021
The world watched in shock on January 6, 2021, when pro-Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Hill, Washington DC, the seat of the United States Congress. The US Congress was in a joint session as constitutionally required to confirm Joseph Biden the winner of the recently concluded US Presidential Election.

Peaceful protests are a part of the constitutional right of citizens to embark on in a democratic nation such as the USA. But the protest at Capitol Hill was far from peaceful with scenes of protesters smashing doors and windows, it was also reported that at least 5 people were killed including a policeman.

One of the most amazing aspects of the protest witnessed at Capitol Hill and its aftermath was the portrayal of the protests by major US media agencies like CNN and the absolute silence of international human rights groups like Amnesty International.

CNN and other US media groups claimed the protests were an “insurrection” because it is a more favorable narrative, meanwhile, protests in countries such as Nigeria, China, Iran, Venezuela, etc are portrayed differently.

CNN’s double standard is more apparent when the US-based news agency released an in-depth exclusive report of the Lekki Toll Gate Incident where #EndSARS protesters were allegedly shot at by members of the Nigerian Army. The news agency was quite vocal about why armed men would be deployed on the streets during the #EndSARS protests. During the Capitol Hill protests, policemen, soldiers, personnel of FBI, and other security agencies were deployed to disperse the rioters; CNN was surprisingly silent about the deployment and depicted it as a necessity to restore law and order.

There are currently 18,000 American troops protecting the Capitol from a potential security threat to the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected president, Joseph Biden; the highest amount of troops ever situated in the Capitol throughout the nation’s history. America and its European allies will not condemn this massive deployment of troops but are justifying it is for a worthy security reason, on the other hand, the Nigerian government was highly criticized by the USA and its allies for deploying security agencies to disperse #EndSARS protesters.

Also complacent in this high level of double standards areCNN, Amnesty International, and other similar groups who apparently understand differently when it involves developed countries like the United States but refuse to apply the same standards to other countries such as Nigeria.

The whites protects what they have, tell you what you will like to hear, and then claim to be liberal when they are the real devil.

Consume Nigerian media, you people won’t hear. The white man doesn’t care for dark skinned humans. Look at how they treat akatas as a case study. If it comes to plundering your resources they’ll happily sing your praise so you’ll open your heart and minds freely to their deceit. Stay wise, you can’t wait for another person to report your everyday happenings how you like it.

Lekki massacre was a ruse. There was no massacre. More people died in the Capitol Hill violence (five) than Lekki tollgate shooting (two) and nobody dare call the Capitol violence a massacre.

The US Capitol is the seat of American Democracy. It houses a coequal arm of the American Government. When the protesters were outside, they were called protesters, once they breach through the Capitol when Congress was in session, it became an act of Insurrection.
The National Guard is the only branch of the US Army that's allowed to deploy on American soil and they only do that in state of emergency. The authority to deploy the National Guard rest with the Governor of the state except D.C where it's done by the President.
They don't set up road blocks, they don't harass civilians on a daily basis, you only see them once the police can't handle civil matters (state of emergency).
The USCP were armed but because the protesters weren't, they didn't shoot them even when they breached the Capitol. Out of the 5 people that died, the only one that was shot tried to enter a resisted area where Congress members were housed during the riot through a broken window. Other than that, the protesters were dispered with tear gas and water cannons.
You can't honestly say the same thing about Nigerian security officers be it police or army or vigilantes. Where any small alteration they've open fire on civilians.
At Lekki they army had time to prepare to engage a civilian population yet they came with live ammunitions.
If you want to discredit someone do so with genuine facts

It is very glaring that the international media will be very happy if Nigeria desintigrate, but they have goofed as Trump has exposed their weaknesses.

The CNN were quick to show one kangaroo pre-acted video they claimed was for Lagos massacre but were helpless when America was in a spotlight. Shame to those who thrive on fake news.

What a load of rubbish!
People armed with guns and pipe bombs stormed the legislative house in washington and were pushed away..., now the security agencies there are taking precautionary measures to ensure that such never repeats...You are now going to use that to excuse your ragtag military shooting live bullets into crowds of armless protesters in Nigeria! You are just upset that your gods in power are being called out for their blood gulping ways! Very primitive take..
