The people of Etuno/Igarra are all immigrants from the kwarafan/jukun tribe who settled in the present day Akoko Edo likewise every other tribe who migrate from one place or the other to settle in their present place. The Etuno/Igarra people share common language with the people of Ebira which is totally different from every other language spoken in Edo state but have different culture and traditions with the Kogi people. The Ekwochi festival is a borrowed culture from the people of Ebira which Igarra people also celebrate. Igarra people has the long age internal dispute from generation to generation because of the different clan that make up the community. The people are known to always attack each other at any slightest provoke among themselve. The killing of this young boy which is carried out by well known Clan extremist who are currently on the run according to source has something to do with their usual fight over who truly owns th land and who rule over who. May th soul of this gentleman rest in peace. He's a victim of long age fight among them. quote author=EricSmallz post=98259997]
You people should stop this silly stereotype.
The people of Iggara are even from Kogi state. They just settled in Akoko Edo. This madness should stop[/quote]

U ignorantly concluded the youths are lazy , Hope u don’t have cultists in the east,we hear of killings daily in the east and this is just an isolated case that happened far outside Benin.
Ejike07:
I recently left Edo State precisely Benin. You don't advise a sane family man or train up young children in Benin. That city has really swallowed so much innocent blood. Not that they have anything worthwhile like working factories, mineral resource or hardworking indigenous people. Very lazy youth hence cultism

So you stayed in all communities in Benin to arrive at this your conclusion.

If you have all you listed working in your state or city, what brought you to Benin. Mstcheeeew
what that dude is saying is absolutely the truth.
Stop defending evil, call out the evils going on among your brothers.
It's so pathetic and hey you better not quote me cos I won't even bother to read your mention

Why are you scared of being quote If you don't want to be quote, stay off my mention.

Well, if you like read, if you like don't. That's your cup of tea.

I'm not denying the state of insecurity in Edo State but your level of generalization is pathetic.

They are the only tribe in Edo state who are known to hate each other and fight each other if you're familiar with them and some of their internal affairs. They speak differently from every other communities in Akoko Edo as well as Edo at large, their language has mixture of Ebira/Yoruba and their indigenous Etuno language.Their elites, both educated and the locals champions among them promote hatred in different means in display of their Clan extremism. The community consist of about 14-15 Clan who all migrate from Jukuns/Kwarafan tribe to settle in the present day Akoko Edo. 5 or 6 out of the clan control the kingship position of the community which the rest other clan never agree to till date. This has continued to further create tussle among them with several litigation here and there even before some of them who have continue the fight among them were even born. It is said that a member from the now royal family in that community influenced gazette while serving as a commissioner of the state to recognize his own clan head as the paramount ruler of the community which has made the rest other majority clan to now look like a communal in the eyes of Government thereby making them to continue with their individual Clan Head by disassociating themselves to be subject of the government recognized king in the community which they maintained was imposed on the community. The death of this young man has nothing to do with cultism but as a result of their long age fight which was recently fuelled by their annual masquerade festival which happens to be a festival with violence undertone where their young men carry charms, guns, machete, cutlass, while also flogging each other in celebration.(I learnt the festival was a borrowed cultural festival from the ebira people of kogi state). This is not the first killing of such in that community. There have been several killings in the past as well as disappearance of some of their community members that the killer could not be traced. As for this young boy that was killed, the killers are well known in the community and currently on the run but I bet you that the case will be kept under the carpet by influential figures from the clan of the killers who would rather further promote their supremacy instead of bringing development to the community. May the soul of this young boy rest in peace and I hope the government will make enquiry about the existence of these people to find a lasting solution to their long age fight cos they remain threat to themselves even when they largely inter-marry to become brothers, sisters, cousins, in-laws etc. They hate themselves and continue to see themselves as enemies from time to time, yet you see them drinking together, partying together, attending ceremonies from their opposite clan they are not in good terms with and you will ask yourself, where does these people originate from? Igarra people I hail una!!!!
