The present government’s failure to provide adequate and necessary security for the protection of lives and properties of the common people is saddened and should not continue as such, otherwise, the nation will finally find its way to the banana republic; a place where anything/everything goes.

No reasonable man would leave his arms akimbo and allow strangers make his ancestral home inhabitable. More so, we should all have the right to protect ourselves against anyone or any tribe whose livelihood tends to be detrimental to our own ways of life. The unity of Nigeria therefore shouldn’t be at the cost of killing and marring of people who go about their businesses peacefully on their own soil and in their homeland for that matter. Now is the right time to curb the immoderations of the Fulani herdsmen across the nation by the federal government to avoid the nation from been set ablaze.

However, Sunday Igboho should tread with care for the land is slippery. Yoruba people for sure are known for their bravery and intelligence, they are deep thinkers and very strategic. Mr. Igboho should not let his emotion get the best of him, he should take appropriate and strategic measures for his agitation if he does not intend to put the lives and properties of Yorubas living within the territory of the Fulanis and their sympathizers in jeopardy.

What Sunday Igboho has done and still doing (in terms of agitation) is commendable, but he should not take law into his own hands by killing or ousting people and touching their homes in the name of expelling the criminal herdsmen from Yorubaland, else it becomes a matter of kettle calling pot black.

With the way things are going Mr. Igboho and his followers will soon be labeled insurgents or worst still terrorists; this would make Yorubaland be more volatile and vulnerable, as military men will soon be drafted to a once thriving and peaceful place (Yorubaland) in pursuit of Igboho and his cohort, while the herders unceasingly go about their businesses: kidnapping people, collecting ransoms, and destroying farmlands.

Mr. Sunday should reach out to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and other governors in Yorubaland to negotiate the lawful ways to secure the Yorubaland. He can offer to provide intelligence and moral advice to the Amotekun outfit, which is purposely commissioned to do exactly what he (Igboho) is wrongly doing.

As for Yoruba leaders all over the world, now is the time to be more Yorubas than Nigerians. E soro s’oke. Iba Gani Adams the Are Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Alaafin of Oyo, the Ooni of Ife, Oluwo of Iwo, etc should champion the course of rallying round Mr. Sunday Igboho and see to that he did not plug Yorubaland and Yoruba people into avoidable hardships – he should not become an enemy of the state.

The police on the other hand should investigate the Sarki Fulani of Oyo State who is said to be involved in kidnapping activities in the state. No tribe is more Nigerian than the others if the Sarki is found wanting the law of the land should prevail.

Certainly, Sunday Igboho is now a voice to reckon with but he should not forget the tale of the elephant, who was invited to become a king on the throne sited on a trench.

This writer tried o, however he forgot the Fulani are not law abiding and they deserve such treatment. I have been robbed by these guy and I can assure you I was lucky not to be kidnapped as they have a field day.
