The top two universities remain unchanged from last year's result. University Of Ibadan is number 1, Covenant University is number 2.

The top ten universities have seven federal universities, two private universities and one state university.

It's a measure of academic works but not much weight in terms of general comparison. A school like University of Ibadan will likely have an advantage over a Covenant Uni or Unilag due to faculties like Agriculture and some legacy departments that you don't have in other universities.

All they have to do is keep encouraging their Agric or Guidance & Counseling lecturers/faculty among others to write & consistently churn out lots of academic papers and that will lift their rating points as a university.

Some Universities are very lean as they don't have or encourage lots of courses that are no longer relevant in 2021.

Top 10 universities in Nigeria, 7 of them in the South-west. This should get any genuine leader thinking on how to raise other region's standard, not at the expense of the ones on top though.
2 of the top10 are actually owned by a mission, and less than 20 years old, really?
There must be somethings they know how to do right which others can learn from.

The best universities are in the SW. Others should up their game.
I think first generation universities should be funded seriously. People keep shouting they are living on "past glory" but these universities have shown over the years that they could be the best if funds are available. ABU,OAU,UI,UNILAG and UNN should be given special attention.

No matter the ranking whether national or international, these universities are always at the top as Nigerian universities.

Those mission schools are there because of available of funds that translate to good research centres and Infrastructures, quality lectures etal.
