I just read a post on Reddit where a 50k USD investment in GameStop stock has ballooned up to 22 million USD in value. The person just held on to the stock for around 5 months.

Contrary to the lies those in the abroad heap on Nigerians, the west is still the easiest place to make money especially if you are smart. The opportunities are endless. Booming stock markets, good paying jobs that give you the capital to invest. Right environment for businesses and massive capital everywhere. There's just free money everywhere if you need loans or startup seed money.

However people still insist that Nigeria is the easiest place to be rich. If Nigeria is the easiest place to be rich, why is Nigeria the worlds poverty capital. Why is that 45 percent of Nigerians and those in subsaharan Africa live on less than 2 USD a day with many people earning less than 200 usd a month in income. Money that even a cleaner won't earn in some poor Latin American countries.

I am curious. I am not a citizen of America but I have gained more from the USA than I have ever gained from my shithole zoo nation.

Abeg the Nigerians making this billions in Nigeria come and teach us how. How can we billionaires in this Nigeria. Where are the opportunities like the westerners have. Our stock market is just dangote and MTN. The person who made 22 million USD on 50k made it from an unknown stock like GameStop. When can we have such in this country and if we presently have such how do we utilise it.

Lol... When you hear people say that you can make it easily in Nigeria than anywhere else just know they means through crime, fraud, corruption etc.

To make it legally in Nigeria in an easy way is almost a mirage. Most people soil their hands with dirty things to get to the top.

Most of my friends I know that are ver rich now in Naija makes it via crypto investment or other legal online stuff, which is not a Nigeria thing only. You can do such business anywhere in the world and make your money. If not for that they will still be living in abject poverty by now.

So, it is just blant lies that you can make it easily in Nigeria. Don't take them serious.

Gbam. More Nigerians are making money via crypto currency and trading American stocks than doing business in Nigeria. Even on the freelance side of things, most high paying clients are westerners. Remote jobs nko. Westerners.

Nigeria is easiest country to get rich for scammers, corrupt politicians and ritualists. From my experience, it's very hard for honest, hardworking and genuine people to get rich in this corntree.

There is your answer.

Yes western world or developed countries have amazing business startup opportunities and passive wealth creation opportunities for their citizens. Also you are right with the availability of startup loans for young entrepreneurs in western countries.

But the reason why people believe it is easier to make money doing business in Nigeria than in western countries is this: Nigeria is a developing nation. What does this mean? It means a lot of problems exist in Nigeria. and wherever you have lots of societal problems, it means there is lots of opportunities to startup a business out of those problems by offering solution to some of those problems and people will gladly pay you for it.

For instance, there is huge opportunity in education sector in Nigeria - Nigeria need more schools (daycare, kindagarten, primary, secondary, tertiary and even vocational schools). With less than $50,000 a Nigerian can venture into education sector and become a major player in few years. This is not the same for abroad where you will need lots of money and even government certifications. In fact, you cannot even start it abroad.

This applies to hospitality sector. Same with medical sector. Transport sector.

When you come to construction sector, Nigeria have a lot of opportunities for serious entrepreneurs to carve out a niche and become a player too.

It is not same with abroad because you will need a lot certifications to start any of the above.

With little capital, you can start an importation business in Nigeria and become financially free in few years. This alone has liberated thousands if not millions of young Nigerian graduates who couldn't find a job after graduation and NYSC.....but they started what they call mini importation business and many succeeded and became big entrepreneurs from that small business venture.

It is not same with abroad because there are lots of well established ecommerce players offering far less discount price that will never allow young entrepreneurs to make a sale and make good profit.

The only challenge in making money in Nigeria is raising startup capital to kick off your business ideas. Another issue is non-creativity of Nigerians. We love following the bandwagon. whatever my neighbor is doing and able to buy a car, I must do the same...and in few months or years to come, Tunde, Emeka, Yusuf, Omokri, Busumi and co will start same and it become overcrowded that everybody don't end up making money, and I also see startup capital and inability for Nigerians to carry out deep market research before starting up a business as the main reason for this.

In summary, Nigeria being a developing country have more business opportunities than a developed country. For you to startup a successful business abroad, you must be highly skilled, talented and dedicated.

The education thing might be true because of standards which westerners don't joke with. But you see that importation. It's very easy and cheap to do importation in the west. Go and read about dropshipping. Their own cheap postal services also make it very easy for them.

There are issues in your writeup that should be isolated but I'll try to address them as much as I can.

Your topic is very interesting but you brought out a weak foundation for your argument. The issue of a stock pumping overnight is influenced by factors that won't help your argument, there are many indices and factors that can affect the prices of stocks, and the price of a company's stock doesn't tell all the story. Gamestop as a company has poor financials and it's not a model to bring into the story. So let's leave that aside and focus on other issues that you raised.

If as an individual you're satisfied with the 8 to 4 schedule, you can easily live in the US and your skill set will determine your income. If you need higher paying jobs, you have to prove that you worth it as there are no jobs waiting for anybody.

If you're thinking of a startup or a company, you don't just walk into the bank for loans, you need a collateral. There are other avenues you can try but the competition is fierce.

One of the reasons people say so is because in developed countries, the competition is tight, you have the multinationals that fight between themselves and swallow up many small companies. or example there were reports of Apple poaching Tesla employees with 250k sign up bonus to get them on board. There are many other ugly stories.

The system is also structured and regulated. You have to be very smart to break in and be profitable. Many companies fold up each year or are bought by others.

Some of these factors doesn't apply in developing countries or are not enforced. That does not excuse the fact there are more poor people in Nigeria that America. Nigeria lack jobs and basic infrastructure and so the citizens struggle.

Amidst all of these, developing countries present problems to make money but you need to be in the "right circle" or have the "right info" to make the money. For example, I worked with expats from US and Canada and despite all that the country represents, there're here for the money, they make so much in a year that would take several years in their country.

One of my boss left the US on a good salary and started his company in Nigeria, he had savings of course and was a skilled professional. Now he only visits for vacation and business. He was able to take advantage of a business opportunity and he also had some finds for the startup and now employs some 20 persons.

So to answer your question in a positive light, that statement is not meant for the average Nigerian. It's meant for those whose have the circumstances to take advantage of the business opportunities that developing countries presents.

You made some great points but it is important to note that being a successful business person in Nigeria has more to do with economic growth aka GDP growth rather than opportunities. The GDP growth in Nigeria has not exceeded 3% in the past five going to six years whereas population growth has surpassed same figure. There is a limit to these opportunities being harnessed if the GDP growth remains very low considering population growth, dysfunctional politicians and a lawless society where anything goes.

In summary, there is a limit to what entrepreneurship can do. Look at the crude inefficiencies in Apapa port and how ports' efficiencies can affect businesses' operations.

My point is America has so much the citizens can use to make money unlike the lies agbayas are heaping on us here.

To me,the reasons is that, Nigeria has a lot of untapped opportunities. They are a lot of areas we haven't tapped into in this country, like the educational sectors, health services, and agricultural sectors. The problem we have in this country is that, we fail to look at opportunities presented to us, and instead want to join the sectors that are saturated already.

Nigeria is a broke country. Other than some natural resources which the 1 percent benefit from, or entertainment, again only the 1 percent benefit from, its a broke country. I laugh when people say don't leave an X (insert nonsense salary) job for Canada. If you can hustle and make money in naija, North America would be a joke for you. Interms of hustling.

Please. A big multinational company will come and exploit the areas where money can be made. The average Nigerian doesn't anywhere to get capital even if they had an amazing business idea.

My aunt who use to work as a secatary in a pharmaceutical company in Kano, was sacked after Nigeria stop the importation of tramadol and other drugs into the country. She was with on 100k as of then I guess, when she was tired of staying home, she started a daycare around her street, with time people started trusting and bringing their children to her. Now she makes above 300k monthly. No multinational company has taken over her day care oo. The goal is not to become a billionaire, but the goal is to be financially free. Now think about many other opportunities that our youths haven't looked into. And for the records, my friend in Benue buy garri from benue and send it to Lagos and Kano, he makes 200k monthly. I'm into farming, and makes more than that. Look around your environment and see for yourself.

Nigeria are basically poor ( both the country and majority of the populance), with poor people comes poor purchasing power.

Few months ago, I made a detailed post on purchasing power comparison of Nigeria and some developed countries ( I don't know how share the link).
You will save more money even after taxes, rent and utilities doing this jobs in developed countries when compared to Nigeria:
Tailor
Barbing
Janitor
Plumbing
Weldering
Taxi driving e.t.c.

This GameStop sudden stock raise is bizarre. I'm sure you know the story. The rich guys were beaten at their own game by average investors. First of its kind; it doesn't happen every day. That is not to say US stocks does not experience massive growth like these. If you know the right stocks to buy, you'll make massive profit, but this GameStop massive raise in few days is due to market manipulation.

Getting rich in Nigeria is one of the easiest things to do if you have the right information, hot selling product, access to market and effective digital marketing skills

Find a problem and sell the solution.

Find a hot selling product, import it, brand it and sell more than 5000 pcs of it using facebook,, instagram, Nairaland, google and twitter ads.

Its capital intensive at first when starting out but at some point the journey becomes easy.

In Nigeria you do not need to re invent the wheel to get rich, just stick to what works.

Go to instagram and mirror businesses and what they do.

some small ig businesses make nothing less than 100k in profit daily (skincare, wigs, food).

The list is just endless.

Anyways I'm into gadget importation from US, wholesale // retail powerbank business and if you'd like to earn passive income...reach out to me.

Cheers !

100k everyday is 3 million a month which is 36 million a year. Around a 100k USD in revenue yearly. A lot of Nigerians do this businesses once they graduate so why is the still so much poverty if a ton of Nigerian youths make around 100k USD yearly doing business.

LOL... Let them be deceiving themselves. Most girls you see on Instagram selling one thing or the others are doing olosho there. Even at that, they are still very poor. All this dm me business they are doing on social media only few of them are actually making better money, most are still very poor.

Those who do online business and earn in hard currency are those who make better money *cos of the value of naira. No mind them, they just like to talk as if they are blind to the prevalent abject poverty in the nation.

How can a country with widespread poverty and high unemployment rates be better than rich countries with low poverty and unemployment rate? How? Statistics are there now.. People should read abeg.
