I wasn't even dragging anyone but that statement that our defenders last season was useless beyond redemption irks me when I remember it, funny how same set of players are the one keeping CS with ease.
They wan drag mustafi that hardly play ball grin grin

Mustafi hardly play na
I know that's the player you will hand pick, have you forgotten how you condemned the entire defence line, if we bring up stats of errors leading to goal last season mustafi is not in top 5 in EPL, if we bring out mustafi v VVD last season they are almost on par with CS playing a major difference.
I ask again do you still want more defenders to partner Gabriel??
Btw I have been praising xhaka but I still want him out
I know u will bring up the bold, but it has already been addressed in the article. In case u missed it, please see below as attached.

As regards Ur question if I still want more defenders, read the second paragraph of that my previous post; the answer u seek lies therein

We specifically called mustafi useless, while others were called clowns. Mustafi was useless for real not just last year alone. This is the link to the post to the article: https://football-talk.co.uk/152203/a-tale-of-shkodran-mustafi-the-hope-the-downfall-and-failing-to-fix-arsenals-roof

I didn't write the article, the same thing I saw and complained about is what the author of the article buttressed.

Be rest assured any day anybody tries to downplay the level of uselessness Msuatfi displayed in the years past, I will be here to remind us how really useless he was

We never said mustafi was good
You guys claimed our defence was useless when kokane and I said we should get AM ahead of CB, Una talk say defence useless
Some said luiz is in the same WhatsApp group with mustafi
Holding is nothing to write home about, it's all good I'm glad we are all seeing what good midfield setup do to defence

Who are "you guys"?

I hold it up to my chest that I said mustafi is as useless as they come. I will never deny that. I called out Luiz for making costly mistakes and giving out penalties. Holding hardly plays not until recently, he was mostly injured. When he plays really well like he did in the FA cup back then vs Diego Costa I was one of those who hailed the performance so also did I hail him vs Mane in the community shield.

I don't go about calling a player rubbish all the time if he's not rubbish all year. You have refused to acknowledge Xhaka's form improvement.

Let's just believe those of us that supported the coach's decision of signing a defender that became instant hit were wrong, but those who think he should've relied on Mustafi and Papasthapopulous if Luiz or Holding gets injured are right.

Well since u want us to go down the road of revisonism, then let's have it.

1. As at the end of last season we had a trashy CB in mustafi ( this is not even arguable, Mustafi has been trash from the days of John the Baptist). I have attached an article that talks about the uselessness of Mustafi that u have always defended in full details o grin. Then we had Papasthapopulous who wasn't better....then Luiz who has earned himself the title of a clown and Chambers on sick bed. We signed Pablo Mari on loan but he was signed injured.

Arteta took a very reasonable decision bringing in Gabriel at that time and I will continue to stand by it. Arteta being a defensive minded coach brought in a good defender that didn't disappoint him even when the rest of the team was faltering.

2. As regards Ur question, the coach has solved the defensive issues in the CB to an extent. I would be unreasonable calling for more defenders when Pablo Mari has shown his quality after returning from injury, Rob holding has stepped up his game, David Luiz is being less of a clown nowadays and Gabriel is still the quality but Arteta was right about.

3. So to acknowledge Xhaka has been in good form hard u like this shocked I didn't watch the man utd match but from what I was told Xhaka was head and heels above Partey on that day and from his recent matches this Ur story of ESR and Partey helping him out holds no water Jàre.

Let's just maintain the same energy we use in criticize players when they play rubbish and praise them when they are doing well too. Haba!
”He didn’t disappoint him even when the rest of the team are faltering” this kind propping get as e be for someone that chopped Red and own goal in fewer appearances. I can choose to extrapolate with the appearance them Luiz had playing behind Xhaka, Guen and Willock, and say Gabrie would have performed worse.
I’m not saying Gabriel is bad my argument had always been cos of the AM that wasn’t sorted but my body don calm down on top that matter now.
But making it look like Gabriel came in and solved our defence problem is far from the truth.

I just know it's a matter of time before it settles, and we can see they're not bad the way they are painted.

Also kudos to Arteta for improving them and also for the team organization

The only thing Luiz has done and Gabriel is yet to do is to cause penalty. He has achieved all Luiz did that earned him the name clown except for penalty he achieved all these in even much fewer appearances. He wouldn’t have done any better playing behind a midfield of Guen, Xhaka and Willock.

U see ehn, if u want to call Gabriel bad call him bad, but he has 3 consecutive player of the month titles to show he's not anything like Luiz. He played behind that same Xhaka doing that.

What u people are not getting is that a poor defender is not judged on what he did but what he refused to do like leaving Ur man in the box, failing to close down attacking players as a CB etc. If na by tackle, then dem mustafi supposed dey World IX for the years he played at arsenal; but we all know wassup

Well as regards the bold, upon further investigation it seems you were also part of "we guys" that said our defence was useless. Below is a post u made as recent as July 2020 doing just that o

Talk like this is one of the reason arsenal is a useless club, fans are quick to accept faith by looking for one stupid positive.
Same result and set of players since wengay days, that match was 200% winnable but some set of useless souls at the back did giveaway.
Why is luiz is playing or offered an extension?
I'm sure the stupid board will sleep on ceballos matter and loose him to another club
THE FACT IS THIS CLUB RECYCLE MEDIOCRITY OVER AND OVER AGAIN EVERY SEASON.
Some spark of brilliance and then fade away, how can I tell my unborn kids xhaka, luiz, mustafi and kolasinac are fvcking professional with big wages
It is actually funny u suddenly think Mustafi is not useless and Luiz is not part of the useless souls at the back tgat did giveaway grin

Yes I called them useless cos of the way they defended but later realize it was midfield issue yet you and others claimed we need more defenders.

That’s because I don’t say Luiz is bad either. my point is if u guys will condemn Luiz, u should also condemn Gabriel since he has almost achieved Luiz’ milestone despite fewer appearances and much decent midfield compared to Luiz.

Well I didn't say the team should not get midfielders, in fact I celebrated Partey's signing and was hopefully we get Aourar ( even when I didn't really know how good he was/is) till th3 deal fell through. But I was very sure Mustafi should not be playing at arsenal and Papasthapopulous was all brawns and less brain.

That was why I supported Gabriel's signing above any other signing. That is what myself and Roland17 have been saying since. You are the ones making it seem as if we don't want the club to sign midfielders. Now that its looking like the defensive problem is solved I will be eager seeing more quality additions to the midfield like a true fan

Spy360:
Pepe's selfishness comes from the pressure of having to meet his goals target, something that may have been included in his contract. Many top clubs do so for expensive signings. It's the job of the manager to ease him from that pressure.

As for his right leg, I think it's too late. Nature has given more strength to his left leg. Many good players are one legged they have only need to use it to their advantage and not see it qs a disadvantage. One legged players are usually faster when they move with the ball and are more accurate when they shoot. This is because their mental strength is highly concentrated on that part of their body. Pepe can use it to his advantage. He must learn to play in close spaces as a club like Arsenal will most often face opposition who sit deeper. He should also improve in his off the ball movement, just as Martinelli and ESR.

He has the talent and should come good for us with time. That said I think we wasted money on him.
I hardly see an attacker that's fully one-legged except Pepe. Granted he should use more of his left cos he's left-footed, but sometimes in terms of passing, crossing (or square play) or even shooting, he should be using right once in a while.

Sometimes, the better option of passing will present itself, and we'll miss that because Pepe "can't pass with his right". If he even uses his outer foot to pass sef, it would have been better but he rarely does such too

Anyways, make "ojukokoro" no kill me. Make pepe first improve considerably the way he's doing now before me thinking of him improving his right foot.

U keep making it about Gabriel but u wouldn't discuss whether it's mere coincidence that he racked 3 player of the month awards as a new signing in a totally new league.

If this was a man utd thread u would've seen people praising Gabriel to high heavens like they did for Bruno because they both became instant hit. Well we are Gunners and we will assume it's the improved Xhaka and Xavi-reincarnate Elneny that helped Gabriel track his man in the box, deal with set pieces and timing his tackles.

Player of the Month in League or Arsenal? Arsenal player of the month which is a polling booth award in Raumdeuter’s voice? Was Guen not also an Arsenal player of the month? Perhaps Guen was a hit in our midfield too.
