and you say you have sense, what is Ebonyi state? Ebonyi state that am older than or is there another one, Abakaliki people are of Wawa subgroups, groups like Nsukka,Obolo etc are typical Wawa subgroup, why would I copy and paste anything when am a full breed Igbo, before the white man created the Igbo Indentity for us,we were scattered between clans and subgroups, before the creation of Igbo and states Igbos are classified based on subgroups Which is close dialects, even though am from Ebonyi state my subgroup is Isu because of I speak the Isu version of dialect which is called Ozara, you find Ozara speakers in Abia (Isu ukwu ato)axis,Enugu( Nkanu)axis Ebonyi (Ohaozara) axis, when there was nothing like Ebonyi a Wawa person will introduce himself by saying his tribe,Nsukka,Ezzi etc and I would introduce myself by telling him am an Isu person, thanks to to Igbo iguzube if not i find it very hard to understand any Wawa dialects, even though we are from the same Ebonyi state bring an Ozara speaker from the village and bring a Wawa speaker they would find it very hard understanding each other, now bring any Isu person from,Enugu or Abia and see how they will understand each other based on similar tongue, discriminate Abakaliki people from now till tomorrow they are Igbos and me as an Isu person am proud of Ebonyi state and no Igbos are more Igbo than the Isu subgroup read Igbo history,we are all over all the Igbo states from Ebonyi to Enugu to Abia to Anambra to Delta to Rivers, anytime you see the name,Isu,Nkanu,Uburu/Ubulu,Okposi just know that its Isu subgroup even though our tongues change our surnames can't change that's why in these places you have surnames like Njokuji,Ani and Umuchima because we are all defendants of Chima from Isunjaba that's why all Isu people pay homage to Njaba be guided I have wasted much time educating you free
Ebonyi state is not Igbo, I can't even understand a single language from you guys. Sometimes I keep wondering how they call ebonyians Igbo. It's easier to understand Rivers or Delta igbos than Abakiliki. People from Enugu state be it Ngwo, Aninri, Nsukka, Udi can speak Igbo and you understand them, same as Nnewi, Awka or Onisha , Ngwa, Orlu and other tribes in Igbo. I once went to ebonyi for funeral rites of one of my coursemate, I was asking myself am I in another tribe? That's the first time I went to ebonyi, I ask such question because the language was allien to me.

where and where have you been in Ebonyi Abakaliki/Wawa might be the majority but they are other subgroups like Ozaras,if you can understand Udi then you would find it less hard understanding an Ohaozara person, besides if you can understand Nsukka then try and listen well go Abakaliki dialect you will grab some,me am from Ebonyi,I don't understand Nsukka or any Wawa dialect including our neighbors Ezzi and Ezza

Your history is different from what we lifted from the op submission.

@bolded means Abakiliki people are not Igbos since he resisted Igbos from entering Abakiliki.

So finally I am proved right anyway.
There were chiefs who claimed to be Igbo and Chief Obodo Nwiboko did not like it. The man was odd human and killed many police officers who went to arrest him. He even killed most of his wives too. He was a handful yet the old Igbo juju defeated his Yoruba one. A person close to me led the CID team from Enugu that finally arrested him.

Who claimed to be Igbo meaning they were not?

I have read a history of them not been Igbo but accepted on the long run.

Two factor stood out from the proof.

The word claimed as used till makes the op point valid.

The Chief Nwiboko also claimed not to be Igbo while he was. During his murder trial, he pleaded as Igbo man. He was hanged anyway. During local council parliamentary election, some of the Chief Nwiboko's opponents made jest of him about his claim of not being Igbo. His opponents asserted their Igboness, He and cronies murdered one of the few that had the temerity to campaign against him.

Ebonyi language is a turn off for me wether Abakiliki or any subgroup in ebonyi state. No matter how you coat it, if ebonyi person start speaking you will think he is speaking akwaibom or tiv language. I hardly understand a thing they are talking. Is better I listen to etche person from river State talking than ebonyi because I might get headache listening to ebonyi man trying to decode what he is talking about.
