I TOLD THEM TO MAKE THIS ROAD 10 LANES FROM THE START, THEY MADE IT SIX LANES, SO WE WILL CONTINUE BUILDING ROAD FOR THE NEXT 20YEARS.

WEN FUEL TANKERS AND CARGO TRAILERS OR TRUCKS START OPERATION, THEY WILL SEE HOW SENSELESS THEY WERE MAKING A MAJOR AIRPORT FACILITIES SIX LANES.

I reckon the airport road is wide enough for now! When traffic to and from the airport becomes so frequent and heavy to suggest the need for TEN LANES, i would imagine the state economy would have improved by then to be able to expand the road with ease!

Not really bro, in total all the Airport road's are 12lanes with, Bus Clover, Bridge-Flyovers and roundabout

The main access road is 6lane with Flyover and bus Clover which is the Awkuzu-nteje axis from express to Umueri,
the Nteje-Umueri is also six lanes with Flyover bridge and the 4lanes road from nsugbe-umueri

So, since there are 3 different Access roads with emergency lane, closed drinage and side walk its not a problem

Our brother Allen Onyeama should play smart. Direct flights to China, Dubai, India, Turkey which is the east should all go through Umueri. If you live in Lagos or any other state you must connect to Umueri before you can get direct flight there as its heading East. Direct Flight to London from Umueri as well as a lot of our people live in UK and Europe. Any flight to East Africa must go direct from Umueri. This is how you put your foot of the neck on Lagos and make money.

With a fair and balanced political-economy, a level playing field and the absence of bad-belle towards Ndigbo (all of which are the elephant in the room some of us naively tend to overlook), all what you suggest would be possible! But with things as they stand in Nigeria today, we have to thread carefully so as not to alarm certain people or quarters with our never-say-never/can-do spirit! The present unitary gov’t and political-economy are in place for a reason!

You think the present occupants of Aso Rock and their southern supporters would allow what you suggest? The little one happening now with the airport Anambra is building, they’re biting their lip in frustration, and this can be seen in how Buhari and Hadi-Sirika have contributed nothing by way of funding or even bothered visiting to see the progress of work on site! Meanwhile, they’re budgeting 30 billion naira for a near-dead Katsina airport!

Many times our youths don't understand what has truly held them down.
Those Abuja manipulators cash-in on the youths lack of understanding of the abominable document called the 1999 constitution, and its long exclusive list items to continue the frustration of infrastructural development and encourage the youths to blame the state governments. Knowing the state governments were indeed powerless to do anything under the fraud called 1999 constitution.

If the Anambra airport had not been approved under a benevolent Umaru Yar'Adua, the present set of malignant manipulators in Abuja today will never allow an airport to be built in any viable part of Igboland. They will refuse to approve an airport in Aba, but will quickly approve it if you say you will build it in Arochukwu or Afikpo because in their mind, they think it will be a waste or at least cannot rival their own big airports serving their established commercial centers.

Right now, they will have a panel secretly plotting how to throw obstacles to prevent the airport from either being completed or becoming functional. By making a long list of financially unreasonable demands. They tried so much to kill Enugu airport as an international gateway to the Southeast. They hoped this airport would never be built. Now, their eyes are firmly set on how to frustrate and kill it. What they have failed to realize is that they are not God and these types of wickedness to keep a whole race of people down forever makes the idea called "one Nigeria" totally out of the question for many Nigerians today. However, I don't expect them to change any of their typical behavior and usual tactics, because they are simply implementing their agenda of total domination and subjugation of southern Nigeria which they will not deviate from.

But the same federal government approved international airport in Abakaliki? Or is it federal government that stop abia state from completing her flyover they started 6years ago.sometimes you people talk without sense,During PDP time Igbo's were heading big offices but they left south east to rot.Believe it or not buhari government has done more for Igbo than 16years of PDP. Yes buhari may not give us the appointment we needed but his projects in south east is doing the talking. Appointments can only benefit our useless greed politicians but buhari projects will benefit the masses.

You are wrong. The problem we have is this nonsense victimhood. We fought a war and we lost our objective but the battle continues. Nigeria is a begger nation! It doesnt dictate to foreign nations. Air Peace has been given all those destinations to fly by buhari and sirika. All he has to do is to set the destination. All this talk of federal government is an excuse for our people not to do anything properly. They blamed dangote for running Ibeto out of cement biz. Can you tell me what is going on with nkalagu that ibeto bought over 6yrs ago? Dangote has already nearly completed biggest oil refinery. What about orient refinery that ibeto has shares in that license was granted 17yrs ago. Have you ever seen this footage or pictures? I dont like people always blaming someone else for there problems. Now is the time to get serious. We are not joking. We need serious tigers from the east to blow open the economic roof of AlaIgbo. We are not conquered people. We have not lost the battle. Until we get our independant Igbo nation we must take all we can get from Nigeria economically. This is what the yorubas and northerners are doing with rail projects and other infrastructure whilst we are drinking beer blaming someone for our problems.

It is better that federal government is not involved. Let katsina keep 30billion. Who cares. We build our own to the spec we have been discussing on here. We will transform Anambra. The next governor will have to build state rail. We can do this. Just imagine in next 10yrs we have our airport and rail that runs across 21 local governemnts all built and financed by is. Its the start of transforming into a taiwan singapore dubai. All we need is law and order. Clean enviroment and quality infrastructure should as modern markets roads with trees closed drainage and sidewalks and we would of built a nation state within a state. Nigeria would not know what hit them. The rest of the igbo states will see this and copy and then its game over for Nigeria. We should be building walls and fencing on our borders. We need database on citizens and those resident in state. Law should be passing no more begging or trespassing on land. All animals must be no longer transported without a vehicle in state. There are many smart ways to solve the issues we have. Its about vision and political will.

Anambra to work With Air Peace to bring Embraer Service Centre to the State

The Anambra State government has set in motion the machinery to work with West Africa’s leading airline, Air Peace, to get Embraer of Brazil, the world’s fourth largest civilian aircraft manufacturer, to locate a service centre for Africa in the state.

Though the details of the state government’s move are not yet made public, it is understood that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has since last year been in talks with the Air Peace founder, Chief Allen Onyema, to get the Brazilians to cite the service centre at Anambra International Cargo Airport at Umueri which is still undergoing construction.

At the delivery last week of Air Peace E195 –E2 in Lagos, Chief Onyema made a passionate appeal to the Brazilian embassy in Abuja to advise the Embraer Corporation in Sao Paulo to build a service centre in Nigeria to cater for the African region.

The brand new plane, registered as 5N-BYF, is the first in 13 Embraer aircraft ordered by the airline for its African regional routes.

“As the first carrier in Africa to purchase Embraer’s E series, which is the latest, Air Peace, with our support, is in a strong position to lobby the manufacturer to bring such a centre to our state”, Governor Obiano said today in a virtual discussion with some members of his administration working quietly on the project.

Anambra International Cargo Airport, the second biggest airport in the country, is designed to accommodate at least one hanger to service different kinds of aircraft, according to Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi (retired), Special Adviser to Governor Obiano on Creative Security and a former Nigerian Air Force pilot who also used to be the military attaché at the Nigerian Embassy in Paris, France.

When he visited the airport last August, an impressed Chief Onyema pledged to build a hanger there.

“If Air Peace builds a hanger there and Embraer follows suit with an African service centre, the vision of building this modern and large airport on a very large swath of land will have been realized”, stated Chief Obiano.

“We didn’t set out to build just any airport, but a strategic one which will help boost traditional commerce in our state and beyond, but, quiet importantly, result in technology transfer and in the transformation of our economic landscape”.

Meanwhile, the state government has described Chief Onyema as the greatest current promoter of private diplomacy in Nigeria.

“Onyema”, said Governor Obiano in a message to the Air Peace chairman following the acquisition of the new plane from Brazil, “has shown that you need not be in government or hold any public office to effectively promote the interests of your country.

“It is not just in Brazil that he has boosted our reputation far better than any person but also in such places as South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates where Air Peace flies into regularly, with plans to start flying into the United States, India, Israel and the United Kingdom shortly.

“What is more, the excellent safety record of the carrier and the efficient ground and onboard services it provides, coupled with its schedule integrity, have all combined to make it compete effectively with the best airlines in the world.

“We are proud that Chief Onyema, a worthy son of Anambra State, is championing African economic integration, a Nigerian foreign policy plank, through tireless opening of regional routes.

“This is to say nothing about his promotion of national integration and unity by flying every hour to all parts of Nigeria.

“Air travel in Nigeria would have been extremely difficult if not for Chief Onyema who is not driven by the profit motive but service to humanity, starting with fellow Nigerians”.

Air Peace, which commenced commercial operations in 2013, has 30 aircraft in its fleet, with 23 more expected from both Embraer and Boeing Corporation of the United States, the world’s biggest aircraft manufacturer.

This is truly a spectacular expose! Now i know why Obiano was hiding the project! He wanted this precise shock and awe at the magnitude of this project when it's unveiled! The guy has left his prints in the sands of time! Even in the next 100 years, It is no longer ever going to be a question if Obiano was one of the greatest Anambra governors or not. He has totally proved himself! Imagine doing this in a recession!

I agree they should begin trees and flowers planting now. Infact they should create a landscaping team to start from the junction of the airport road by the Awka- Onitsha expressway all the way to inside the airport. Also, spaces around the taxiways, apron and runway should be grassed now. Even before marking of the places with paints begin.

If i were Buhari, i will rebuild the Awka - Enugu expressway as my contribution to this project.
In the future, some people may even confuse it that it was Buhari that built the entire airport and built the expressway!

I think the FG is already working on the Onitsha-Awka expressway. From what I saw recently, they have done one of the lanes completely from Amawbia flyover end to Nteje/Ogidi. They should be moving to the other lane by now.

Gov. Wille Obiano is truly a magician!!! How did he get the money for such world class project?
Obiano is finally bequeathing Anambra with one the best airports in West Africa!

Everything from the access roads, Main Airport gate, runway, taxiway, car parks, fire stations, Emergency medical clinics, 2 level terminal building, Water supply station, mini power station was well thought out!!! With more space for future expansion and development!

The official airport January 2021 Status Update video released by the state government! O'lboy, this is indeed a massive project. Everything is done at the best international standard!!!

Anambra finally has a true international airport to facilitate trade and commerce without depending on the whims and caprices of others!
I am hoping the begin planting trees, flowers and grass now around areas that no further construction is needed. Also they need beautiful trees and flowers along the main airport road all the way to the parking lots to give it the best ambiance possible!

It appears the video has been deleted. What could have prompted that. They don't want much publicity for now on the project?

I can only imagine how much land along this access road costs now!

Please Government should ensure the land is reserved for 5 star hotels, shopping malls, amusement parks and other tourist entertainment that will help boost other facilities around the airport.

There should be NO market or eyesore type of building along that brand new road.

Someone within the government circle told me that all the lands along the airport road was equally acquired by the state government. They actually want to appropriate/regulate the lands on that route. For me, they should allocate it to big corporations to erect their West Africa regional offices, like Embraer, Airpeace, services firms, big hospitality groups that can erect 5 star international airport hotels, etc.

They think Abuja needs Airport more than Anambra.
I pray with investments coming in to the Airport, flight ticket to be cheapest btw 10- 20k to at least Lagos and Abuja.
I like the way Obiano is going with the standard.
Thank God they moved it from Oba.
I pray next gov will use his last blood to make sure Onitsha port becomes viable even if investing Anambra money.
Go to Apapa and see what people go through in the name of getting their containers.
Oba Airport site should be used as dry port with rail way connecting it to Onitsha port.
Next should be to bring gas to our industrial clusters.

Anambra is already a megacity with this Airport in the Anambra North.
If you know, you know.

Next should be to bring gas to our industrial clusters.

Anambra is already a megacity with this Airport in the Anambra North.
If you know, you know.
Thank God Abum nwa omambala.
I think state rail is better. I wouldnt bother with onitsha port as its tiny. Anambra would need to build a big port somewhere like Ogbaru to make sense. The federal government is building new port in bonny. Also akwa ibom is building port. What we should do is build state rail that connects 21 local governments and we can transport people and goods across state. They are also building a port harcourt to bonny line which will go through awka i believe. But our state rail can connect from onitsha - nnewi line on to that to move containers to and from bonny.
Lets invest our money wisely. Once Anambra has Airport and state rail. You wont believe the economic boom. All governemnt policy should be on sme and msme start ups. Then you will see a china japan taiwan in Africa.

That's why I'm furious when somebody in his or her right senses says that Anambra does not need an Airport.

You are very correct. Check anyone that says Anambra doesn't need an airport, he/she is either not from the state or something else. The airport should have been built 10yrs ago. But importantly it is being built today even bigger and better than it should have been 10yrs ago. Rail? I don't if it is still on the exclusive list of the federal government. But Lagos is building rail also.

We can build state rail. Buhari will give approval. Its not a problem. They would rather we spend our own money than them. Politics have consequences. Winner takes all. The north and south west linked up in 2015 so they have to satisfy there people first. Its not right but thats how its played in Nigeria. Its a good thing for us because whilst they are focused on themselves they dont see us strategically putting in place the right policies. We have the human capital that is higly aggresive in to commerce. We can not be dominated if we focus.

Anambra and all other igbo states especially Abia goal should be dominate Africa with manufactured goods. The AFTCA is the door open for us. We must do to Africa what china did to the world.

Right on point. I don't know yet why successive governors in Anambra state keep neglecting the gold mine that Onitsha presents. Onitsha is God's gift to umuigbo. Why would our importers be building factories in China instead of Alaigbo? What is it that China gives them that isn't available back home. Work on it. Partner with them and encourage them to go into partnerships in other to mitigate shortfalls in capital. Find out how federal government under Obasanjo ensured that energy needed for manufacturing was made available in Ogun state. Replicate it here and get umuigbo flying with our mates out there.

Truth be told, we actually have no competition in the whole of Africa. Africa is waiting for us to lead. The next governor of Anambra state is crucial at this point.

what is it that china gives them that isnt available back home? Do you have light 247? Can your representatives ensure gas facilities are built in onitsha?( though they being built in egbema and aba at the moment?) ..if you can't guarantee that then no use wondering why they site their manufacturing outfits in China

Very true but there must come a time when people get tired of building other peoples land and neglecting tbeir own home. Those ones in China can stay there. We have ones at home that are ready to start from here. Government need to encourage and support them to start now.
