Why southwest and not the north you are toying with viper tail. Please raid the northern part first then you can go to any part of the country and do your raiding if you are sincere because many contraband enter through that region and you do nothing about it. So charity begins at home.

LegendHero:
Oga custom yi o ja fafa.

Some of your officers are also collecting bribes and aiding the smugglers so how exactly can you identify ALL stores with local rice when it’s already in their warehouse?

Some will even keep it hidden in other locations coz they know the customs will be looking for them in their stores.

Nigerian agencies will just rush to the media like they are working, arrest few and after some months everything returns to status quo.

Na person wey close to the dealer go inform customs and they will be compensated .... it will leak base on information around.

This is economic sabotage of SW. They are destroying their food and cash crops. They have also turned the SW youths to people who can not reason properly!

This shouldn't be limited to the South West for equity n transparency,it should be nation wide,in fact it will be more effective for the customs to be raiding stores n markets for contraband goods than blocking them at our porous large borders,if the dealers know they can't successfully sell the goods they wouldn't take the pains to smuggle it.
Re: Customs Moves To Raid Warehouses With Foreign Rice In Southwest by Ajeyo(m): 12:54pm On Feb 11, 2021
But why only South West?,they should go and do same in other regions, selective operations is not good.
Re: Customs Moves To Raid Warehouses With Foreign Rice In Southwest by Rebuke: 12:56pm On Feb 11, 2021
Then a bag of rice will start selling for 25k or more again.

This country is just running without direction for now. All because of directionless leaders .....

Why Southwest all the time? From information gathered....there are over 100 check points of Customs from Lagos to Kogi border....thereafter no more custom check points....this is totallyuncalled for.

How about the ones in the North? I expect the south west rice dealers to resist this through every channel available.

Well this is another view too.

Also there might be some of those customs that will tip the smuggler/Shops about customs activities and raid which can make the same people evacuate goods away from their stores before the D-Day.

Shebi na person wey you see rice for their store you go catch.

Nigeria is a crazy demo like Dagrin said. Both customs, smugglers, distributors, and dealers are same same in their OT.

Make them leave our foreign rice o

How can we buy local rice when it's filled with Stone and chaff and even more expensive than the foreign rice.
Unless they'll start producing Nigerian rice that is of same quality and standard with the foreign one...then we go buy in peace

Na so customs go carry away the rice wey Mount Olives bought from local farmers and processed that year for Kwara State. Una go dey pai 1 by 1, 2 by 2, 5 by 5, all northern hegemoniacs. Assuming they even carry am cross border, all the security agents wey dey road when dem dey transport am, una dey sleep? After you Don collect dem white envelopes, you still dey destroy their businesses, una be gonners o

See life na, so the price of a bag of rice at 18 - 22k has now become cheap? See the effect of what mad people voted in as president and party? God forbid evil!

Alabitomilolawa:
But foreign rice is abundant and as cheap as 18-22k in most core northern states.

Why not slam 500% tarrif on the impotation since you cannot stop smuggling. You could also collect the money in the market and leave the rice with the owners. They will stop trading smuggled rice.
