He (Arteta) judged me on two-and-a-half matches,” Saliba told RMC Sport.

“I would have liked for him to play me more. But he told me I wasn't ready.

“I was waiting for him to give me a chance, but football is like that.”

I think Saliba is too straight forward. Yes, he might feel aggrieved but he should be diplomatic on how he says things. Things he says to media might make or Mar him.
Such a thing like this ought to be said when he's no longer in the club.

Arsenal vs Benfica to be played on neutral ground (in Rome) both legs.
I was expecting this, especially as Liverpool own was shifted also to a neutral ground.

Politics has delved into football deeply which has affected the rhythm of football.

Nobody is interested in the quality of players you possessed and/or your playing pattern result has taken over irrespective of ow u achieved it.

That's why the likes of Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Messi and co are still reigning. Neymar, KDB, Mbappe, Hazard and co we expected to take over from the former are only playing for the money nd for business.
True... Another aspects is really politics.

We gone past halfway into the season, and we need to really look at our players.

The burden is solely on our forward to score and once forwards don't score, we're sure to lose that game or play out a 0-0 draw.

Midfielders

Xhaka... 1 goal
Partey... 0
Elneny... 0
Ceballos... 0
Smith Rowe... 0
*Willock... 0(tho no longer here)

So across the midfield, we just have only 1 goalscorer

Let's take a look at defence
Luiz... 0
Gabriel... 3
Holding... 0
Tierney... 1
Bellerin.. 0
Cedric... 0

So aside Gabriel (who really tried in popping in goals), and Tierney. The others too aren't popping in goals.

But why I might not go hard on defence, but then, the issue in midfield is really really worrying.

And aside that, it seems Arteta is barring our midfielders from venturing into opposition 18yard box. Aside ESR, hardly does any of xhaka or ceb/elneny/partey makes that run into the box or even near the box. No wonder even their assist rate are not up there.

If they can't pop in assist or goals or the system doesn't allow, I see the end road for success still far in sight.

Coming to our attackers

Saka... Seems to be the most proficient of all. He isn't world class, yet he's our creative hub. Good he scores and assist, but like I said, he's not world class and he's still very young, so relying on him can be detrimental

Auba... The goalscorer. That's good as it gets. If he doesn't score, there's nothing much we can expect from him.

Lacazzete... Limited cf. Good at hold up play, but that's that. Seems he's the only striker that is afraid of aerial ball(partly due to his height too), hates opposition box, not a proficient goal scorer and easily bullied by CBs.

Pepe... Really getting his stride recently, but that's the issue. We've been lacking attack from his ends till recently. Will watch further to make better assessment of him.

William... The less said about him, the better.

That been said, saka seems to be the only person that have all the attributes of a good forward. The rest are just deficient In most areas. Add that to the midfield who can't even score (or assist) and see the big issue arsenal are experiencing.

We really need to improve in most areas.

The embolden is because Arteta uses our midfielders to dictate play mostly from deep. When Xhaka/ Partey are dictating plays from deep, they are almost rendering the AM useless and they are not able to find their way into the box because they are dictating plays from deep. Most of the attempts by our midfielders are long range shots because they are arriving late to the attacking third. This is another reason there is no fluidity and movement in our attacking third.

I think some of Arteta’s tactics almost neglects the role of the AM in building his attack. Remember at the start of the season and last season, he was using our defenders to dictate plays from the back. Luiz will launch balls from the defense looking to catch them unawares. We still see this tactics but not as much as last season or early this season. Now he is using our midfield combo to do same thing from deep.

Don’t get me wrong, ESR definitely needs a break but a close observer of Arteta’s tactics will see what I just noted up there. He needs to mix it up, push the midfielders higher up when we have possession even if u want them to dictate plays. We need options inside the main box, not the edge of the box when we arrive the attacking third. Have you observed that many times Saka/ Pepe deliver balls into the box and there is no one there or maybe just Lacazette.

Your observation is very accurate. The thing is that Artera priotizes defensive solidity over attacking ventures. While this has kept us respectable this season (no 6-0 loses as before, and few comical defending) our goal creation and scoring has suffered.

For the midfielders to contribute to goals with this tactics, our fullbacks must learn to tuck in to midfield. But it seems Arteta prefers the fullbacks overlapping than tucking in.

The bolded is, to me, the solution. The work of midfielders is to create and even score goals if possible. I feel he should assign one midfielder to dictate play from deep while another to attack. Using two midfielders to dictate play from deep no gel and it reduces our attacking options well.

Also, it's so sad that once crosses enter into the box, we only see lacazetter(and/or auba) esp if the cross is coming from the opposite flank of auba.

Aside that, I'm not sure anyone attacks ball in the opposition box.

Haba, this was what our past coaches did that was their downfall
Playing mediocre players ahead of the better ones, the lad said arteta never gave him chance and judged him with just 2 matches yet he still play willian, willock( before his loan move)
This is a very young defender that was coming from a another country experiencing difficult time, i think it's bad
Arteta should talk to him either we sell him or we keep him, he is still very young with a lot of years ahead

I truly understand your point and Saliba. But then, if you notice, I said he should have said it diplomatically. No matter how, you don't drag your coach under the bus, even if his opinion are wrong. Same as coach, you don't drag your players under the bus.

I'm not saying Arteta is right, what I'm saying is, the words he(Saliba) used are very very wrong.
If he's no longer playing for the club or Arteta isn't the coach, that's perfectly right and understandable, but where those two situation abound, there are more better words to pass out your message.

No I think this is actually the best time and I'm sure questions will be asked by arsenal board of they know what they are doing.
This guy denied other big clubs just to be treated this way, I'm beginning to suspect Arteta is not a fan of youngsters.
ESR is another testimony, he said Arteta told him he(Arteta) was told to play him against Chelsea and he encouraged him.
Just imagine youngster was forced on our head coach before he realised he's good enough, no wonder he will always play William

Lol... Arteta not liking youngsters or liking the wrong set of players(I believe in the latter grin) is a different case entirely. Some coaches might have a wrong sense of judgement whereby they see a good player and don't just like the player e.g guardiola-yaya toure, Tony pulis- Gnabry.
But it's up to the player to complain to the coach personally, talk to some staff within the club about it or try and prove himself to the coach that he(the coach) is wrong not liking the said player. The wrong way to go about it is the press. It kills any little chance the coach might want to give you to justify your worth.

Let's take yaya for example. He's a legend in man city, a great midfielder every top team will love to have, guardiola just come and immediately freeze him. If you notice, even with the cult hero yaya has, he never for once say such talk against guardiola. The time he said such was towards his last days at man city when he was sure he's not getting any appearance again (and that's even through his agent).

Arteta even admitted he made a mistake omitting Saliba from the league squad, that tells you that he acknowledge his wrong and he's willing to give him a chance wen he comes back. Firing back that the coach judge you *under two games* is just all shades of wrong and a disrespect to Arteta.

Even de-bruyne shaded mourinho wen he was out of Chelsea completely and not on loan. You reason am na

I know say you no like Arteta treatment towards him or to some of our players (esp having ESR but not putting him, willian treatment and all), but this isn't about Arteta. This is about Saliba and how he went the wrong way about saying his grievances

Well, it's very very painful. I understand his pain. Firstly, they(arsenal) cut short your stay wen your team was due to a final, saying they need you urgently. They said they need you in order to acclamatize with the team before news season starts. Pleas from your French club fell on deaf ears. Only for new season to start and same club is saying that you're not ready. Even omitting you from league and Europa competitions. It's painful, very very painful.

So Saliba thinks he is better than Holding and all the defenders we have. Even if that is true, does he mean that if given the chance he will not allow any goals at all? Boy should focus on his loan spell and hope to make the team next season rather than distracting himself with silly complains.
