The Chinua Achebe you are referencing is someone that has hated Awolowo since the 50's.was Achebe residing in Lagos or on a visit to personally witness the celebration? Read the accounts of Ralph uwechue,Cyprian ekwensi e.t.c. You should read wole Soyinka's account on his visit to Ojukwu too

yes I know Forsyth was ojukwus friend that was why ojukwu trusted him to tell him certain things he didn't tell others, he was just a British journalist who was out to let the world know what truly was happening in biafra, something the British government and Nigerian government never wanted the world to know the suffering in biafra,
