There was uneasy calm in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra state following a boundary dispute between Ezi Nkewelle and Osile Ogbunike communities in the area.

Some hoodlums reportedly working for one of the communities had blocked the road in attempt to stop the other party from taking possession of the slaughter market, an action that led to smashing of some vehicles in the area.

Addressing newsmen on Sunday, Chairman of Ezi Nkwelle community, Chief Wilfred Okafor, regretted that they were prevented from taking possession of the slaughter market land given to them by the State Boundary committee and court judgments.

He said: “When we arrived the place on February 11, some armed policemen already stationed in the market and started shooting sporadically which made us to scamper for safety.

“Why will the same police that gave us protection on Feb 3 when we first came to take possession of the land but was prevented by suspected hoodlums who were shooting from the bush that made both the police and themselves to leave the place for safety also turn against us and started shooting at us?

“We also wonder why government is keeping quiet over the land matter even after paying our own bills as they requested for demarcation and monuments.”

Okafor called for government intervention by putting the monument as promised after their ruling on the land.

The Nation gathered that some traders were injured, others lost their meats and cash amounting to N30million while properties were destroyed when suspected hoodlums stormed the slaughter market last week.

Reacting, Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed said Police did not stop anybody from executing court order but responded to a distress call of imminent breakdown of law and order.

“The timely intervention of the Police calmed the situation leading to restoration of normalcy and free flow of traffic,” he added.

Whyem15:
Let's refrain from attacking one another. Most of us here are biased. We've been divided along political line; pro-government and anti-government factions. That is one of the major obstacles to solving the menace of insecurity in this country. We play politics with everything.
When government is failing, we shouldn't be shy to criticize. At the same time we should encourage and praise when they are doing well.

herdsmen should also help themselves by not carrying weapons about. How will people differentiate them from terrorists? And also the years of the conflicts they've had with farmers is coming back to haunt them. They will need to go extra miles to gain the trust of others. They should also be ready to make sacrifices. Only then will they be seen as victims of a common enemy. You cannot claim to be a victim and yet some among you are still destroying farmlands and quarreling with farmers because you have to feed your cattle.

Everything you've said is valid but let us also look at the plight of those who were forcefully conscripted to fight for the terrorists? Those whose family members were abducted and who had to join to at least protect their loved ones?
The kidnapped kids who were brought up and trained in the terrorists camps?
And if there's ever going to be an end to this war, there has to be a safe corridor for people who are willing to surrender and change their ways under reasonable conditions.
At the same time the soldiers shouldn't also be made to feel they were used and dumped. Their welfare should be of great importance to the country and they should be carried along as much as possible. In war, everyone is a victim.

And please note, there is a category of "terrorist" that are allowed into the operation safe corridor program. They screening is very thorough and most of those who go for the training are rejected and sent to detention camps to wait for a judge to sentence them. Also the requirement for being considered for the program is that the person must surrender willingly...... When was the last time NA even took prisoners?
seem you take side with the govt on this but let say one of those soldiers that lost their life is your fam bet you won't come up with this stupid analysis.

A Criminal High Court of Justice sitting in Benin City, has sentenced to death by hanging, a dismissed Police Constable, Joseph Omotosho, attached to the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Edo State Police command.

This sentence is coming after five and a half years of waiting for justice by the family of Benson Obodeh, a car dealer, who was arrested by men of SARS for undisclosed reasons and later died in unclear circumstances.

The dismissed Constable, Joseph Omotosho, alongside, Corporals, Adeleke Adedeji, Abena John, Oniyo Musa, Henry Shobowole, were found guilty after undergoing a court trial on eight-count charge bordering on Conspiracy to Steal and murder over alleged car theft incident that happened in 2015.

But the other three accomplices escaped during the EndSARS protest when two correctional centres were destroyed in Benin City and inmates escaped.

The presiding judge, Justice Ohimai Ovbiagele, delivered judgment on the fifth defendant, Joseph Omotosho, who was the only one present in Court while suspending the sentencing of the other absconded criminal policemen.

Ovbiagele described testimonies provided by the claimant as firm adding, “therefore, his judgment was based on “absolute fact” which the Court absorbed as presented by the prosecuting counsel and all witnesses that appeared before the court,”

26-year-old Benin based car dealer, Benson Obodeh, was said to have been listed among suspected criminal gangs who allegedly stole a Peugeot car in Lagos for their raids.

According to multiple reports, his corpse was later dumped at the Specialist Hospital, Benin City, with a different name unscripted on his lifeless body, claimed by the mortician who received the body from one of the Police Corporals that killed him.

Family investigations revealed that, the policemen who committed the murder also stole an unregistered Peugeot 306 car from the late Benson Obodeh, stole the sum of N200,000 cash from him, made away with the wallet containing his identity cards and two ATM Cards.

Bandits have aducted 21 passengers on board a bus belonging to the Niger state Transport Authority (NSTA) on Sunday afternoon at Yakila village in Rafi local government of Niger state.

The bus was said to be traveling from Kontagora town to Minna, the state capital before it was intercepted by the bandits.

Blueprint learnt that all the 21 passengers were matched into the forest by the gunmen while shooting sporadically.

Eye witness account stated that there was panic around the area as villagers ran for safety.

Blueprint however, gathered that the Yakila general area has become bandits enclave with series of attacks during which the traditional ruler of the area was recently kidnapped and later killed.

It was learnt that the Chief of Staff to the Niger state Governor, Ibrahim Balarebe arrived the scene of Sunday kidnap incident barely three minutes after it occurred.

Balarebe was said to be coming from Kagara headquarters of Rafi local government after an official engagement and that he got to the spot just as the bandits hurried into the forest.

The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Maganagement Agency, Mallam Ibrahim Inga, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation.

Inga who was on his way from Kagara for the revalidation of his All Progressives Congress (APC) membership in company of the Chief of staff said they met the scene where the bandit operated.

He explained that they met a woman with her child who was left by the bandits who told them that other 18 passengers in the bus have been taken away.

According to him, “The only thing I can tell you now is we have rescued the woman and her baby and she is in the vehicle with us and we are on our way to Minna. She told us that the bandits blocked the way and went away with other passengers in the bus.”

He said no government official was among those kidnapped, adding, “I can’t give more than that for now because the woman is traumatised and we cannot be asking her too many questions for now.”

He however promised to get back to our correspondent when he gets back to Minna with more information.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, was unsuccessful as he neither picked his calls nor responded to messages.

Who told you herdsmen carry weapons? what do they need it for? the herdsman that sold meat to you this morning had weapons really?

Go back to that post, read it, digest it to understand who has weapon, I don't know how to communicate with people with comprehension problems.

If you have problems identifying actors in a conflict, what is the honorable thing to do?
Keep quiet!! till you get your facts, the challenge I have is that a crack head comes online to spew baseless nonsense he has no clue about, aided by a confused media, Aljazeera got to Lekki toll gate before Channels that own an office in Lagos, that's how useless your media is.
Aljazeera gave an update by 4am this morning with a live correspondent at Lekki toll gate.

I did a lengthy post on the workings of operation safe corridor when some crack heads insinuated they joined the army, the post is still there, a simple research will take you there.
People that have information seek for it, you can't vomit the opinion of a useless SM influencer then expect to be taken seriously.

“… I believe in safety first, if you see anybody holding arms and wants to attack, please don’t waste time”. These were the orders from Konongo Divisional police commander, Superintendent Bossman Ohene-Boadi.

He was speaking to the about 200 combined military and police force deployed to evacuate the Fulani nomads from the Asante Akyem North and Sekyere Afram Plains Districts in the Ashanti Region, when he made the comments.

He ordered the team of armed military and police force to shoot on sight in the wake of the slightest threat.

Supt. Boadi painted a horrific picture of the nomads when he addressed the battle-ready men in uniform as they set off to evacuate nomadic Fulani herdsmen from Agogo land.

“… They are not people we have to toil with, they are dangerous, if you joke with them, they will take your life”, he said.

The Fulani herdsmen have over the years been accused of destroying farmlands of Agogo residents and at times killing the farmers.

Three soldiers and a police officer were left in critical condition after being ambushed and shot by persons suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Monday at Agogo on their normal operation.

The security personnel deployed at Asante Akyem North and Sekyere Afram Plains Districts have therefore been told to defend themselves.

“… Are Fulanis better than us? Can they shoot better than us? Nobody should die in the bush, no risk taking”, he added .

(Text + Video) How Fulani workers connived with others to abduct, kill their employer in Ibadan

Oluwole Agboola (The Deceased)

Timeline was December 28, 2020, at about 1.30 p.m. A farmer, Mr Oluwole Agboola, got news about one of his pigs on his farm at Adegbade community, via Aba Odo in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

With the passion he had for his farm and love for the animals and birds he was rearing, Oluwole quickly made his way to his farm at about 1:30 p.m., to see the pig that was said to have given birth to 10 piglets.

He was on the farm and visiting his workers at different places they were attached to when suddenly gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles and dressed in military fatigue with their faces covered barged in, attacked the farmer and whisked him away to an unknown destination after firing shots.

Bewildered at the unexpected happening, Oluwole’s son quickly put a call through to the family to intimate them of the fate that had befallen his father.

The family, disturbed, waited with bated breath, was anxious to hear from the adductors, knowing that there would be a demand for ransom.

They were not disappointed. They received a call on December 29, 2020, from the victim’s phone. The kidnappers demanded N50 million as ransom.

The family and friends pleaded with the kidnappers from December 29 to 31 on the reduction of the ransom, until they were able to raise N1.650 million which was taken to the kidnappers.

Saturday Tribune learnt that when the ransom was paid on December 31, and there was no return of Oluwole, the family members, through the advice of someone, connected with the police on the case.

That was when work began after the then Commissioner of Police, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu directed the command’s Monitoring Team, led by CSP Sola Aremu, to begin work.

The operatives were said to have moved immediately to where the victim was kidnapped and commenced intelligence gathering.

Things began to unfold with the help of information and the team arrested a Fulani working on the farm, identified as Usman Dahiru.

In the course of interrogation, it was discovered that Dahiru was present on the farm on the day of the kidnap. On the day the ransom was paid, he also left the farm without informing anyone of his destination. But the police got to know that he went to the kidnappers to get his share of the ransom.

One other worker, Ahmadu Muhammadu, also on the farm, eventually helped to trace Dahiru to his hideout at Bodija community in Ibadan, it was further learnt.

The monitoring team was also able to discover that one of Dahiru’s brothers, Hassan, who had once worked on the farm, and was frequently visiting the place after his exit from work, was one of the masterminds of the kidnap.

While working on tracing the whereabouts of the victim, the team had a breakthrough on January 3, this year, as Dahiru was trailed to Bodija area at railway track where he relocated to, and got him arrested.

After his arrest, Dahiru confessed that he knew about the kidnap and got a share of N50,000 from the ransom.

He also mentioned the other worker, Muhammadu, as being in the know of the kidnap plan.

A third suspect, Ibrahim Mamuda, was also arrested, as he was said to have been the one who went to Aba Odo community to collect the ransom from the victim’s brother, Olakunle Agboola. He was identified by the victim’s brother after his arrest.

With the help of intelligence, the police deduced that Oluwole must have been killed, if he was not released after payment of ransom.

After much interrogation, Dahiru opened up that the victim had been killed, though he claimed not to know the spot where he was kept. On January 9, however, the team got useful information with regards to where the body was. On January 10, the operatives went to comb the area, which was not far from where he was kidnapped. There the body was found, decomposed, but identified by family members.

Below is the narration of two of the suspects after their parade on Wednesday, February 10, by the state Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko.

How I got involved -Usman Dahiru

“I’m a Fulani man, but born in Ilorin, Kwara State. It is true that the day the kidnappers came to the farm, they met our boss, his son and those of us working there. They came with guns and took our boss away between 1pm and 2pm.

“I was not the one who directed the kidnappers to come to the farm. It was done by my brother, Hassan. He once worked with my boss, but was still coming regularly after he left. As he was coming, he was studying how things were going on.

“When he first informed me of his intention to arrange the kidnap of my boss, I told him not to try it, saying that he would get into trouble.

“When the kidnappers came, we were working. They beat and kept us in a place, while they whisked my boss away. They covered their faces.

I knew Abubakar, Aliu, Onto and Yellow among those who came to carry out the kidnapping.

I didn’t tell anyone because I was afraid. I followed my boss’s family to settlements around to look for him.

“Hassan later called me. Before then, when he came to us at the farm, I told him that I needed N50,000 as I was not financially buoyant.

I left Aba Odo for Bodija on Thursday, December 30.

“On Friday, December 31, Hassan came to where I was waiting for him and gave me N50,000. I asked him where he got the money from, and he replied that it was from the kidnapping of my boss that his gang carried out.

I quarreled with him over the issue but collected the money anyway. I also asked him to give Muhammadu, who is an Alfa, some money also, and he said he would come to the farm to give him.

“I thought of returning home on January 4, unknown to me that police had gone to pick Muhammadu from the farm and were coming to me. That was how I was also arrested.

I swear, I didn’t know my boss had been killed.

I lived on the farm with my wife and children —Muhammadu

“On Thursday, December 31, 2020, Dahiru told me and the other worker that he wanted to go and buy something within Ibadan city. He did not mention a particular place specifically.

“We expected him for a long time, but he did not return. On Sunday, January 3, police came to me at the farm and asked of others. I told them we were only two around, with the other person working on the farm while I was trying something for us to eat.

“They asked about Dahiru and I told them he left three days before, saying that he wanted to go for a purchase within the city.

“I was never told of the kidnap plan. If I had been aware, I would have notified others.

I live on the farm with my wife and children, and my boss was paying me a salary of N15,000. He used to give me N1,000 from time to time outside the salary. He also used to give me food items.

“Again, he gave me part of his land for me to farm on it. Will I say that was not enough for me? What will I gain from his being killed? Why will I destroy him for me to succeed?

“Hassan never told me he wanted to kidnap our boss. He only used to come to take concoction (hantu) for protection.

I knew he was using motorcycle for commercial purpose, but became suspicious when he stopped the work.

“I couldn’t chase him away because his brother had been in the environment before I came.”

The third suspect, Mamuda, however denied being part of the kidnap gang, despite coming in contact with late Oluwole’s brother who identified him.

The police commissioner, Onadeko said that investigation was still ongoing, adding that efforts were being intensified to arrest the remaining suspects.

HOW DOES A SANE MIND DEFEND THIS?
Please take time to read this.

Imagine for a minute that you are a trained soldier.

In fact, a Lieutenant.

You have a wife and two kids.

Now, imagine that during the quarterly rotation, you were sent to Bornu to fight insurgence (Boko Haram)

On this fateful day, as you were moving with your platoon.

There was an ambush.

Gun fire ensured.

You shot with all you've got.
You know that you have a slim chance of surviving the attack.

As you were running out of ammo, you called john, your buddy, for fresh supply.

No response.

You glanced and saw John's head split into two halves.
By your left is Barry, his torso turn and one of his arm lying 10 ft away.

With nothing to fight with, you made a run for it and took a deep dive into the abondoned crater while bullets were getting fired at you.

You passed out

When you woke, you saw yourself in the hospital.

The doctor came in.
"Officer, you are awake, we did an emergency surgery"
"We had to amputate you"

We are sorry.

You then asked.

'What of my team mates ?"

"Well, you lost 18 men and 2 survivors", the doctor replied. "You and Barry.

Barry is still in intensive care."

Now, 3 months later, at the defence headquarters.

Your commanding officer, General Gida told you.
"You are back, lieutenant "

" Good news!
We rounded up all the terrorist that attacked your platoon after in another battle confrontation."

They are now in rehabilitation center.

"Can I see them?" you asked

'Sure!'

You got wheeled to the center.

They opened the door.

And yes.

' There they are !'

Across the hall,
Young men in white flowing gowns were eating fried and Jellof rice with multiple chicken parts.
Some were drinking wine.

Laughter filled the air.
Having a ball.

You were told they will soon be taken abroad on scholarship.

Government sponsored.

As you were getting back to the generals office.

Just outisde the defence headquarters gate, you saw the wives of your team, now widowed, as they agitate with high voices and placards.

"We have been abandoned!"
"Pay us our husbands benefits!"
"We are hungry"

Just imagine all that.

------

It is the reality of a Nigerian Soldier in the corridor of terrorism.

Copied
Although you are in the "left" when it comes to discussing matters here. Reading this broke me down. But on the flip side, I read the fight about insurgency isn't just about killing your enemies always but at some point you employ other tactics like reformation (I disagree totally with this idea) of repentant enemies.

Reading this tweet from Jake and realizing that it doesn't even cost that much to provide standard protection for all troops deployed!!
Egypt got 2000 MRAPS for $120 million!!

Like why can't we do the same thing?

Nigeria is at war.
Nigeria is facing the same thing as what sudan faced.
Fulani from all over west africa are being allowed free passage into nigeria in order to take over the land from the indigenous people through genocide. Any fulani from any country in this world is also considered to be a nigerian by the nigerian government.

That is what is going on.

Buhari is 100% behind this and this explains why he made sure the entire executive branch of government was filled with fulani sunni muslims.

Just take a look at this video from the beginning to date 8:50

Sudan did the same thing when it made it law that every arab in the world was a sudanese. Nigeria seems to have made it law that every fulani in the world is a nigerian.

What happened to the middle belt will be childs play compared to what will happen to the south of nigeria.

I warned yoruba in 2015 that buhari was a biggot, but they didn't listen, they rather insulted me and trolled me.
I warned after the elections, but yoruba people were too occupied with celibrating and shouting "sai buhari" andrejoicing that a yoruba man was vice president... Selfishness ... We are all going to be wiped out

by the way Bleep ipob and oduduwa fanatics who lie so much that even genuin news is now looked at with suspicion.

My friends, a fulani operated genocide is upon you. Nigeria is now a land for the fulani to conquer, non-nigerian fulani have more rights (including right to carry ak47) than actual indigenous nigerians in nigeria.
When fulani kill or rape in the south, if they are arrested, they would be freed and COMPENSATED !

Fulani herdsmen are the world's second most deadly group after boko haram (deadlier than isis)
If you guys don't defend yourselves then you will be wiped out, that is the only logical conlusion to this.

All I can say to southerners and middle beltans is this:

Defend yourselves ! defend yourselves, defend yourselves !

These colonizers (fulani) are not joking around, defend yourselves !

Gunmen in the early hours of Monday invaded two villages in Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State and killed four youths.

National President of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA) Mr Robbert Ashi, who confirmed the incident, said three young persons were ambushed by suspected herdsmen and killed between Jebbu Bassa and Rikwechongu village on Sunday evening.

Another person, he said, was killed at Zirshe village on Monday morning and some houses burnt, including food barns.

According to him: “Yesterday night I was informed of attacks by suspected herdsmen who ambushed and killed three of our youth returning back from Jebbu Bassa to Rikwechongu village close to the School of Accountancy.

“While at the early hours of this morning (Monday) the herdsmen also attacked Zirshe village and killed one person, burnt several houses including food barns where the villagers had kept their recently harvested produce. This action is condemnable coming at the time our people are preaching peace in the land,” he said.

Ashi described the attacks as unfortunate and called on the security agencies to arrest the attackers whom he said are suspected herdsmen

Senator Istifanus Gyang said he is saddened and grieved by the attacks on Rikwechongu and Zirshe villages of Irigwe Chiefdom, Bassa LGC.

His Special Assistant Media and Protocol, Musa Ashoms, said the Senator noted with concern and dismay that while all effort is focussed on rebuilding peace and reconciling people of Plateau North, there were still persons whose preoccupation is violence and bloodletting.

Gyang urged government and the security agencies to secure and protect law abiding citizens and communities of Plateau North and bring the culprits to justice.
