Nah only for Nigeria mass kidnapping dey happen regularly. What a disgrace. Is either the government do pay this people or they do release some of their members in prison in exchange for this students. The reason I say this is because I see no reason this guys will keep on kidnapping students in mass if is not favouring them. |

BabaOwen:When a lion is wounded while fighting another dangerous beast, all sorts of weak animals including flies sense the weakness and will make use of the opportunity to show they are also noticed. The reasons crime are thriving are very simple ; Uselessness of the police force Overstretching of the military Needed crime combating assets have been deployed to other regions. Once the terrorists in the North East are defeated, most of these criminals will pack up and move somewhere else while the strongheaded ones will be engaged with the full might of the military. Another necessary solution to the menace we are facing now is a border wall........ What sort of country isn't bothered about what&who is entering and leaving the country? |

Whyem15:That deal is not a purchase deal, so the $120m is not the true price tag of the MRAPS, Nigeria can not get those at that price. Excess defense articles provided to partner nation at a reduced price (based on the condition of the equipment) or as a grant. Partner nations pay for packing, crating, handling, and transportation (PCH&T), as well as refurbishment if applicable – EDA is “as is, where is”. |

"One africa" can not be a unilateral thing. That is absolutely not what is being done here, rather what we have is much like the jewish state and the sudanese "right to return". This is an ethnic cleansing. You sound like a comedian, are you related to Mr Ibu? |

I think you need to discuss your "one africa" with someone else, I have already stated with arguments that what we are doing is not "one africa". Rather what we are doing is "fulani colonisation of nigeria". I am not interested in talking about "one africa". I am too busy trying to inform people about what is happening so that my people don't get annihilated by a genocide. If buhari was an Ijaw man, I'm certain you wont say this nonsense!! who will blame you? you dont read, you cant study, you dont research, you dont even make yourself available to credible information sources of interest, You sit in your 2X2 shop in Ogbomosho like an oracle, typing away your sorrows, truth is; I am more scared of folks like you with chronic low IQ than the Fulani militia at least I know who they are & what they are capable of based on credible intelligence, as for you, not even the gods know how far you will go in stup!dity. THIS IS THE TYPE OF NONSENSE YOU WILL READ FROM AN AVERAGE IPOB MEMBER! |

Human civilization will always battle one problem or another no matter the level of development, it is the speed of solving the problems and learning from it that now differentiates every nation/country. We refused to learn from the Kankara abductions, after the release of the students, nothing was done regarding it again. The government didn't even bother to look into solving the problem of kidnapping. Today, the exact thing that happened in Kankara, Katsina state has happened again this morning in Kagawa, Niger state. |

Border wall, restructuring of law enforcement, restructuring of governance. These are some of the things we must look into, else we will keep on battling these crises. |

Whyem15:The bandits simply want to cash out. Since the ones that kidnapped Kankara boys got paid despite the fact that government had encircled them thereby having the upper hand. This ones too will be expecting a windfall. Nigerian government had a chance to teach them an unforgettable lesson during the Kankara incident but bungled it. This rampaging herdsmen cum terrorists are moralless monsters. They are absolutely the worst of the worse. You kill them not negotiate with them! |

The solution to Nigeria's insecurity issues are 1. Border security through border surveillance equipments in short term and border fence in long-term. 2. Improvement and advancement in the entire law enforcement including intelligence agencies. 3. Decentralisation of the police, The NPF should be dissolved and decentralised into state police such that governors have direct control over the police in each state with supervison of a federal board, the police in every state should consist of personnel from all states of the federation so as to avoid the failure of amotekun. 4. Life or death sentence for anyone who is caught in involvement or conspiracy in smuggling and illegal local production of weapons and explosives. |

Niger governor confirms abduction of 27 students, 15 others The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has challenged state and federal lawmakers on the need to partner with governments for youth empowerment. Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger on Wednesday confirmed the abduction of 27 students, three staff and 12 family members by gunmen at the Government Science College, Kagara, in Rafi Local Government Area of the state. Bello made the confirmation at a news conference shortly after an emergency meeting with heads of security agencies in Minna on Wednesday. Newsmen report that the gunmen stormed the school on Wednesday at 2 a.m. killing one student and kidnapped 27, three staff of the college and 12 members of families at the school. The governor directed that all boarding schools in Shiroro, Rafi and Muyan be closed down with immediate effect until the situation improved. “I call on all Nigerlites to condemn all forms of criminality in the state,” he said. He called on the Federal Government to deploy all resources to secure the state, while the State Government was doing everything possible to ensure safe return of the students and staff. Bello also said that the State Government would not pay ransom to the suspected bandits in order to secure the release of their victims, but that it was ready to support any bandit who was ready to surrender their arms. “When you negotiate and pay ransom to criminals, they will use the money to purchase more weapons,” he said. Newsmen report that Government Science College, Kagara, has a total of 650 students out of whom the 27 were abducted and one, Benjamin Doma, was killed by the hoodlums. NAN recalls that 40 passengers travelling from Kontagora to Minna where abducted by suspected gunmen on Feb. 14. However, 8 out of the 40 passengers abducted, had regained freedom, while the remaining are still in the hands of their abductors whom are demanding for ransom. https://www.today.ng/news/nigeria/niger-governor-confirms-abduction-27-students-15-347442 |

Minister of Defence, Major General (rtd) Bashir Magashi, has asked Nigerians to summon courage and stand up to the gunmen wreaking havoc across the country. Speaking with newsmen on the sideline of the screening of Service Chiefs by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Magashi described those who abducted staff and students of a secondary school in Kagara community in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, as cowards. He said Nigerians have the responsibility to ensure there is adequate security around them. Magashi said, “Well, is it the responsibility of the military alone? It is the responsibility of everybody to be alert and ensure safety when necessary.” “We shouldn’t be cowards. Sometimes the bandits come with about three rounds of ammunition and when they fire shots, everybody will run. In our younger days, we stand to fight any form of aggression. “Why should people run away from minor aggressions? We should stand and face them. If these people know that the people have the competence and capability to defend themselves, they will run away.” The Minister also dismissed the clamour for Nigerians to be allowed to bear arms to defend themselves. “It is an issue currently even in the developed country. They are still debating on whether to continue (to allow people bear arms) or stop. But I don’t advice Nigerians to bear fire arms for internal use,” he added. https://dailytrust.com/we-shouldnt-be-cowards-defence-minister-asks-nigerians-to-confront-bandits |

Some communities in Gurmana Ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State have been attacked by gunmen. Daily Trust learnt that Sarkin Zama, Bakin Kogi (Lagbe), Siyiko and other adjoining villages were invaded by armed gangs who operated unchallenged for hours. According to Co-convener, Concerned Shiroro Youths, Sani Yusuf Kokki, some residents were killed in the attacks which happened hours after students and staff were abducted at Government Science College, Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area of the state. “Countless deadly attacks have become daily occurrences thereby compelling the affected victims to live at the mercy of hydra-headed monsters. Defenceless, unarmed and peaceful locals have been abandoned to their fate,” Kokki said in a statement. The Police Public Relations Officer in Niger, Wasiu Abiodun, neither answered calls nor replied text messages sent to him. After the attack in Kagara, President Muhammadu Buhari had directed security agencies to ensure the immediate release of the victims. In a statement Malam Garba Shehu, his spokesman, issued on his behalf, the president had said his government is committed to securing Nigerians. Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, also held meetings with top government officials over the kidnap at Kagara. Describing the incident as a source of concern, Adamu had said different strategies were being put in place to address the situation. “We have restrategised. We are working to ensure that the students are returned unharmed. We are using the same strategy as we used in the past case but it won’t stop us from apprehending those who committed the act. We have deployed our units of mobile policemen to reinforce security in the state. The group that perpetrated the incident, we know the group and we will get the people back unharmed,” he had said. On his part, Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, had asked Nigerians to stand up to bandits and gunmen wreaking havoc across the country. “We shouldn’t be cowards. Sometimes the bandits come with about three rounds of ammunition and when they fire shots, everybody will run. In our younger days, we stand to fight any form of aggression. Why should people run away from minor aggressions? We should stand and face them. If these people know that the people have the competence and capability to defend themselves, they will run away,” he had said while briefing newsmen at the National Assembly. His comment irked Nigerians, especially on social media, where people accused him of attempting to shift the responsibility of the government to the governed. https://dailytrust.com/breaking-residents-killed-as-gunmen-carry-out-fresh-attacks-in-niger |

At least seven Nigerian soldiers have been confirmed killed after a deadly ambush by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State. The affected soldiers were attached to the 153 Task Force Battalion in Marte Local Government Council of the state, sources familiar with the matter told PREMIUM TIMES. According to the sources, the troops were caught by surprise when the terrorists swooped on them at 10 a.m. on Monday. They, however, put up a strong fight to defend their base and ward off the insurgents. But despite their gallant efforts, the soldiers were overwhelmed “because they could not withstand the superior firepower of the terrorists”, our sources said. Dislodged The unit, which was totally dislodged, has now been moved to Dikwa, another local government area, a development that has now opened up Marte to further attacks. To this end, the army authorities have issued advisories to troops in Sector 3 (especially those in Baga, Cross Kauwa, Kekeno and Monguno and the areas surrounding Marte) to be on red alert. Monday’s attack on Marte Local Government by the extremist Boko Haram group makes it the third onslaught on the area in a month, military insiders said. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/443377-exclusive-seven-soldiers-killed-as-boko-haram-sacks-military-base-in-borno.html |

NAF currently bombarding Orlu forest in a bid to engage members of the ESN based in the forest. It is sad that at a time that the military is over stretched in various operations across the country, the decision makers are still pour fuels to sparks. There are better ways to solve political crises. Force should be the last resort. |

The people of the Southeast shouldn't make the same mistake. Once war starts, it will be too late to reflect on the consequences. |
