rabies is not fatal unless the clinical symptoms appear and it has incubation period of up to 30-50 days...which by then u are a dead man walking...also there are rabies vaccines, it is considered 99.9% fatal, when it has severely damaged the nervous system and finally the brain.. the trick is once u get bitten/scratched/touched by a suspected rabies animal... clean the wound and seek medical attention, ur chances of survival decreases with each passing day.

First of all people of sanity, what statistics r they working towards to? Statistics of people beaten by dogs, statistics of dog possession in Nigeria. Most people die of dog bits tahn the rabies itself. Owners have d money to keep their dogs in check.
Since when did dogs, that calabar people use to eat, even without vaccinating it, become our problem?
