These are obviously sad times for Texas residents as a huge winter storm has swept across the southern US.

There have been widespread blackouts in Texas, where the energy grid was overwhelmed by a surge in demand.

Residents of Texas have been seen in a viral video lining up in public to fetch water amid days of blackout in the state occasioned by failure in natural gas operations.

According to operators, the bulk of the power loss in Texas came from natural gas suppliers as pipelines froze, making it difficult for plants to get the fuel they needed and this has resulted to water shortage due to the fact that electricity is normally used to pump water into the homes of residents.

As a result of this, residents have resorted to seeking alternative ways of accessing their daily needs.
