By 1979,Nigeria don cast sef,for people saying that everything was different..By 1979,the military has almost run the country down,before handing an almost broke country over to Shagari..Nigeria have always had massive corruption,even when the British were still around(Felix Okotie Eboh was so massively corrupt that a British MP allegedly refused to be seated with him in Stratford house in London,1955)..The British built this country to thrive on corruption,by so doing,they can be able to control certain aspects of the country(resources).

He was not a looter,and if he was as a second Republic governor of 4years,he stole peanuts.
Ambrose Ali,Adekunle Ajasin and Jakande were exceptional governors of the second Republic. Ali was alleged to steal 100,000 naira (like $100k equiv.)by the military tribunal,he was remanded,sick and languishing in prison when he had no money to pay until igbinedion helped out. Jakande offence was he made financial contributions to his party UPN,not for his personal enrichment

The reason Buhari and his dogs truncated that dispensation was nothing but their hatred for the South. Especially the Southwest. Jakande, Bola Ige, Onabanjo and Ajasin were doing very well in the Southwest under the direction of Awolowo and the Southwest was on the path to development which the rest, especially the northerners were not comfortable with. Lagos already signed the contract for a metrorail as far back as 83. Buhari cancelled it straight. Up till today, Lagos lacks a metrorail. The same Buhari came back and messed up the country again with poverty and insecurity.

It annoys me when I see yorubas supporting such an idiot.

The 79 election might have been peaceful, but the one 4 years later in 83 was marred by widespread vote rigging and violence. Especially in the West, leading to the 83 military coup.
