Amid the security challenges in Nigeria, the Government of Canada has warned its citizens against non-essential travel to the West African country.

It also cautioned its nationals resident in Nigeria to exercise high level vigilance so as not become victims of the insecurity in Nigeria.

In a travel advisory published on its official websites, the Canadian government urged citizens to “avoid non-essential travel to Nigeria due to the unpredictable security situation throughout the country and the significant risk of terrorism, crime, inter-communal clashes, armed attacks and kidnappings”.

The advisory further read, “Avoid all travel to the following regions due to the risk of terrorism, armed attacks, kidnapping, intercommunal and sectarian violence:

“The north-western states of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara;

“The north-central state of Plateau;

“The north-eastern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa and Yobe; and

“The Niger Delta states of Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers (with the exception of Rivers’ capital city, Port Harcourt, where we advise against non-essential travel).”

The Canadian government also urged its nationals in Nigeria to “exercise a high degree of caution in the cities of Abuja, Calabar and Lagos due to the incidence of crime”.

The GREEN in the Nigerian flag is a lie. It should be changed to RED. After watching this video of a 1995 Interview with Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, I saw clearly how a country that had a very bright future was destroyed by a set of blood-thirsty beasts having human shapes. Tueh!

The title should have been--"Canada warns her citizens to avoid non-essential visit to northern Nigeria"

Tho insecurity is everywhere but that in the north is indeed second to none

I remember when I used to read something like this about other countries, wondering what they were doing till insecurity degenerated to that level… not knowing same will one day be heard from here too….
See what our once peaceful nation has now become.
This whole thing began in 2009… and grew worse by the day.
GOD save us!

I have one solution to ending terrorism in Nigeria since Government and the military has failed Nigerians independently....We have Private Security Agencies, such as Eastern Security Network, Niger- Delta Militants etc, Government should pay any of these groups and empower them giving them go ahead order, I bet you before 48hours Shakau will be captured, Boko Haram will cease to exist, Banditry will stop, even western countries like the US Government do employ the services of Private Security Agencies to carry out some dogmatic jobs. These are the only group that understand terrorism better and can withstand the surge from Boko Haram compared to Nigerian Military, a case of using a thief to catch a thief...but like I always tell people Nigerian Government both past and present are all thieves,they are the greatest beneficiary of this terrorism escapades,so they should stop telling us they are seeking for funds to fight terrorism. Since 10years now that Nigeria Government is fighting terrorism, they have claimed to spend more than 1 trillion naira for the cause....just pay these private security agency 200billion, terrorism will be history in Nigeria.

That is the Buhari next level Nigeria. When you hear this man's campaigners talking loudly during election, you will think they know what they are saying.
One once said 24hrs power supply wasn't a rocket science.
The man himself said he will end Boko Haram in 2months.
Another said if terrorism last beyond 24hrs, then the government is involved.
Not to talk of other promises too many to mention.
Today, what do we have?
A grossly mal-nurished infertile 180 cows now fatter than those in IDC from the wealth of the country.
A recharge card seller now a billionaire from no known business, just from a political appointment.
A fragile looking pale 90yrs old man, now turned to 50yr old man from the wealth of the nation.
A group of people paying obeisance to cow.
