This particular one am about to start will be purely organic,no fertilizer, fungicide, insecticide not even manure cheesy.

I remember selling off our healthy looking vegetable leaves after a successful harvest during lockdown.
It was such a fulfilling experience to cultivate and harvest your hard work in bountiful quantity kiss

We will be counting it from today,it should be ready for harvest latest 28days. I think this particular one am cultivating is called "AMARANTH" no sure though. Remember this one is for consumption, and to give out. Not everything we should be buying, you can do it too (grandma, grandpa and full housewives) at the back of your house.

Good evening all.
Please if you have had an experience regarding this please help asap.

There is this land I got recently that is close to stream but I'm having serious headache with it regarding the type of soil.

I noticed the soil is a clay soil and that it holds on water.
My fear is on the soil drainage when the rain comes since I'm not in control of rain and I'm in the south that experiences heavy downpour yearly.

I have never grown vegetables on a soil like this.
I have always had loamy and sandy soils that drains well with raised bed and have not had issues.

What is your experience growing pepper, cucumber, tomatoes, etc on a clay soil.

Drought problems made me source for a land close to water but this clay is giving greater headache now.

Please help asap with your suggestions.

Thank you.

what is the experience of people farming in that environment? True rain is coming, if you are not 100% sure that water will not carry your plant, don't plant there!!!!

Water will run off sir. The issue is if the raised bed will dry faster.

Re: Cultivating Vegetable Leaf by Farmerakinloye6(m): 9:36pm On Mar 01, 2021
Twenty one days today. My first harvest, to enjoy it I will have to harvest it maximum (to allow air flow) three days interval because of the density.

This particular vegetable leaf (amaranth green) is the most popular and common one in the market here, and 95% are grown inorganic. Most farmers in my area don't know how and when to apply fertilizer to vegetable leaf, some even apply it 1 week to harvest, and when such produce is cook, the soup will not last, and if somebody like me or my mother cook it directly without boiling it first and turn the water away, it will turn our stomach.
Re: Cultivating Vegetable Leaf by Farmerakinloye6(m): 9:52pm On Mar 01, 2021
Am bring this topic to an end today. Had been I am cultivating it for commercial purpose, I would have spray insecticide (1 time) and apply one time fertilizer at early stage. Also, It would not have dense like this.

This is a friend farm that major in growing leafy vegetable commercially. The best time to cultivate and make meaningful profit is nov-march, you will need water or waterlogged land.
