If by now, northern governors are not closing down boarding schools in their respective states, then they are either stupid or are also benefiting from the series of abductions. Even FG should start considering closing down boarding schools even if it will only be temporary. If not, this is just the beginning. Every Tom dick and Harry will start thinking about it and even acting on it.

Magashi Seeks US Support for Nigerian Army Aviation

The Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) says a full fledged Nigerian Army Aviation is a critical component in the counter- terrorism and counter- insurgency campaigns in the country.

General Magashi stated this when the Commander US Africa Command, General Stephen Townsend and his team paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

He said Nigeria will appreciate the US intervention to fully establish the Aviation Unit of the Nigerian Army as a force Multiplier in the on-going fight against ISWAP/terrorists in the country.
The Minister of Defence onbehalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari thanked the United States of America for its technical and manpower training supports towards enhancing the nation’s capacity and capabilities to end insecurity bedeveling the country.

While recalling specific instances of US strategic supports to the Nigerian Military, he mentioned progress recorded in the supply of Super Tulcano aircraft, Thunder Boat for Maritime Operations and logistics to the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF for enhanced combat efficiency and effectiveness.

On human rights issues he told the delegation of the US Africom which include US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Beth Leonard, Foreign Policy Adviser, Russell Schiebbel and US defence Adviser to Nigeria, Colonel Andrew Clerk that the Nigerian Military is adopting international best practices to reduce collateral damages in the fight against terrorism
For instance, he said the Fighting Forces are leveraging low kinetic modus operandi in the theatres of combats, which he said is in compliance with the Rules of Engagements.

On his path the Commander US AFRICOM, General Stephen Townsend eulogised the leading role Nigeria is playing in Africa Sub regional security matters and assured the government of support at all times.

General Townsend commiserated with Nigeria over the aircraft misharp that claimed the lives of seven crew members onboard the plane.

The courtesy call earlier began with a closed door session between the Defence Minister, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi( rtd) and the Commander US AFRICOM, General Stephen Townshend.

Really? civilians will self police in Nigeria, while armed? Are you Nigerian? haha, lord have mercy, you have simple vigilantes, they are busy abusing civilians, now imagine a country where people are burned to death for suspicion of theft, now armed and self policing themselves, haha.
How many rapes and murders do you think will happen within the first week? Not to talk of armed robberies quadrupling.
Even the USA that's far ahead of us in civility, will never dare do such, and that's a country that has the right to bear arms in its constitution.
Unless that country is in Europe somewhere with less than 7 million people, forget this nonsense.
Nigeria isn't nowhere mature enough for what you are talking about, you are about to have some badland scenario playing out if that is ever allowed.

e clear say na unpatriotic self loathing, egoistic people na him some of this men just be. No wonder they attack civilians at the slightest provocation. People appreciate you when they see victories, peace and a dignified armed forces. Not failures from failures to failures. In ancient Rome when a army is defeated sometimes the general takes his own life instead of returning to the city. But this Werey wants us to appreciate them on top of failure.

OK let's say we are supposed to appreciate you and soldiers are supposed to be appreciated, who will appreciate the US soldiers that fought in world War 2? US citizens or Europeans? Who will appreciate the Nigerian Soldiers that fought in Sierra Leone and Liberia? Nigerians Citizens or Liberians. Some of the commentators here seems to talk like stack egoistic illiterates. How do you appreciate a man that has laid down his life to defend his people? How will a living soldier be seeking for appreciation when there are thousands of dead unknown soldiers?

What rights does a general that failed in battle to seek for appreciation? What

Even the police are they not acting as vigilantes. How many extra judicial killings do we record every year from citizens compared to police? In terms of community policing who is always the first responders Nigerian police or local vigilantes.

If not for local vigilantes do we have an even tiny shred of rural policing? Why are people in the villages complaining about herds men and the police claims there is nothing like that going on? Because simply the police are not in these villages and these villagers are resorting to self help...

You guys here self just speak big English you people do not even have a clue as to what is really going on in Nigeria...

I'm convinced that DHQ is determined not to do anything to counter the ambush tactics of BH/ISWAP that works virtually all the time. They are convenient with losing men to such attacks because many more will always be willing to join.
It is frustrating to see how slow every sector of the country is slow to change.
The convoy of the theater commander of operation lafiya dole was ambushed in Friday, soldiers died, nothing will still change.

The terrorists won't hold the town, they will withdraw soon after looting the town or the military will dislodge them and things will return back to square one. Nothing will be learnt and it will happen again.

I pray the aid workers will be safe in the bunkers they are hiding till the town is recaptured. They are the major targets of the terrorists.
