Where is it done that government buys lands?

The issue of countering criminal herdsmen has been debased by tribal and ethnic differences.

It is valid for the government to provide a ranching zone. This will curb and resolve activities of the criminal ones.

They are not buying or owning the land, they are just using the land, which they could be minimally taxed for.

In as much as better ideas are welcomed, the statement of the governor is crude, undiplomatic, height of incompetence and sub-par leadership qualities

There is no free land in the SW for fulanis to use for ranching. If they want land, let them buy land and develop it.

How many free land have you given pig breeders and Poultry farmers in the North?

By virtue of the Land Use Act which vests power in the Governor, you can go bleep yourself.

Piss them off again and they're likely to pull blockades or withdraw their livestocks.

Hello! I am not a Northerner and only using common reasoning to address issues. States government do lease lands to farmers at very subsidized rate in Nigeria. And if you research on how advanced countries go about ranching/farming, then it will be a more interesting debate. With the ration of one cattle to grazing land, its close to impossible for ranchers to buy the land. Do you think those 1000 acres ranch/ farms you hear about in the USA are owned by ranchers/farmers? If you do, you are very wrong.

Update yourself and get back. If the Nigerian government funds agriculture the way advanced countries do, likes of you will still make it look like tribalism cos Northerners are more into it.

Land can be provision with moderate taxes on users. that should not be a debate like we doing. Confine them and monitor them. Even more opportunities will be opened by this gesture.

Nigeria`s problem is ethno-religious differences, and not ranching. The moment citizens put that aside, development starts. No nation as grown divided.
