However, the disease is widespread and it's a big problem in Nigeria. The only thing is that Nepotism is strongly the weakness of some while for others they are fairly detribalised. e.g. Obasanjo (with all his weaknesses) is fairly detribalised. Yaradua, to a large extent is also detribalised.

But on the average, Nigerians are tribalistic

The only people that are happy with the current state of Nigeria are the northerners, and that says a lot about why the country is in rut. People that are yet to grapple with the modem civilization but only see affairs of this country as a power tussle between them and other people from the southern parts. Secondly and most importantly, I've never seen a black man that stands by any cause they believe in without rescinding on their faith. Black people lack the resilience, perseverance, and discipline needed to build a nation, they can only do their best in the functioning system put in place by other people. It is not a secret, look around you, how many successful enterprises originated by a black persons? Even in Nigeria as we know it as the most populous black nation, how many businesses founded twenty years ago that are still standing on their feet without deviating from their original purposes?

The resilience, perseverance and innovativeness needed to achieve this are lacking in the black culture.

I honestly think we over-flock, praise meritocracy in the USA. In the first place, it only exist in the private sector where immigrants and their first generation children work hard against all odds to break through.

America practice Branding by taking credit for the talents of diverse group. No matter how talented you are in the USA, English, Irish and later Italian whites are your bosses and managers until recently when Asians start heading major private corporations.

Is that meritocracy? Mention one major private corporation headed by African. Please, please do not mention white South African.

2years Murtala, Shonekan & Abdussalam-Fulani, Yoruba & Hausa.
If calculated along religious line, it can be seen that Nigeria was ruled under Christians Presidents for atleast 32years while Muslims Presidents ruled for 28 years.
When calculated along geographical location, it can be seen that South ruled for almost 24yrs while North rule for almost 36yrs.
Yoruba ruled for approximately 12years, Fulani ruled for less than 11yrs, Angas ruled for 9yrs, Igbos ruled for 6yrs, Ijaw had 6yrs, Kanuri had 5yrs, Nupe had 8yrs, Tuarek had 2yrs while Hausa had 1year only.
North-Western presided Nigeria for about 17yrs, South-West presided for about 12yrs, North-Central enjoyed approximately 18yrs, South-South presided for 6yrs, South-East had 6yrs while North-East are still struggling to get to the apex position and still not agitating for it.
Going by the logical distribution of power along ethnic and religious line it can be seen that accusing only one particular tribe for Nigeria's failure is just a deliberate tactics by desperate power mongers and children of hate to put us into ethno-religious conflicts.
Since 1999 to present, two southern presidents used almost 15years out of the 21 years and yet we southerners still complain of Fulani dominance everywhere like babies throwing tantrums.
