They are talking about hausa-fulani beggars not Akwa Ibom children.

This post has a very misleading headline. Akwa Ibom children are not the ones begging on the streets, it's hausa-fulani and their counterparts from Chad etc. And they are everywhere in Nigeria including Lagos and Abuja not only uyo. This newspaper that published this rubbish are haters of Akwa Ibom good image.

Mynd44, seun, ishilove please tear down the post!!!!!

What good image in akwa ibom?
Child killers.

Mr, I don't base my conclusion on hearsay. I have lived and worked in Uyo for sometime so I know what I am saying. In Uyo it's either one is really rich or dirt poor. The gap between the haves and the have nots is large. The government has not devised efficient ways of spreading the wealth of that state to the generality of the people. Besides these Uyo in Akwa Ibom is a nice place to stay. I really enjoyed my stay there.

K, everyone claims to live and work in Uyo grin grin grin

Akwa Ibomites are Nigerians living in Nigeria - home to more poor people than anywhere in the world. So, why the fixation on Akwa Ibomites?

This story is really funny. I was in Uyo last week and never encountered any so called street beggers.

Even in Lagos you have kids come up to your car to beg for alms and I have not heard anyone make an issue of it.

There has never been a time when it was said that Akwa Ibom state only had rich people inhabiting the state.

I condemn in it's entirety little children being branded as witches and wizards. But I believe more importantly that people who have been displaced economically in the current reality in the country, look for other ways to explain their financial situation and think they are being bewitched.

The truth is our economy is in dire straits and people are hungry and frustrated. So even if they see a rat in the house, that rat must be diabolic.

God will help us!

This is a serious case the government , NGOs and civil society organisations should look into this. I always give them money or buy food for them whenever I see them. They are innocent and they don't deserve what they are going through.

Those beggers aren't Akwa ibomites, they're Fulani kids of which majority aren't even Nigerians, I interacted with some of them and I realise they're from Niger republic.
Make your findings too.

I don't expect you to read nor understand this paper, but lemme just share,

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/329991232_Price_stability_of_agricultural_products_in_the_European_Union

Do you know that the European union buys up food from farmers and sell to vendors for the price to remain stable? Isn't that food price regulation and monitoring? Which body handles that in Nigeria?

Like I said before, stop displaying your acute ignorance on matters you know nothing about.

Children are killed everywhere in Nigerian. In the north by terrorists. In the south west and south east by skull miners and ritual killers, why haven't you mentioned these places?

The person that actually wrote this article is just an attention seeking journalist, there is no state without beggars or street urchins over here in lagos sef it's worst as the agbero have taken it as a norm to always beg for money especially if you have given them before but I haven't seen any journalist writing about this online, only for a compound fool that calls him or herself a journalist coming out to spew this about the state,I guess this is politically driven.......I'm not based in aks before anyone come for me,there are things that aren't supposed to be online thanks....

I don't really know much about this state I 'd be glad if someone will be kind enough to enlighten me more about this state as someone is asking for my hand in marriage and I still don't have an answer to his request even though this March will make it close to one year he has been asking .

Which part of Akwa Ibom is he from?

But, you don't judge a man primarily by where he comes from but by who he is.
Has he been a nice person to you? Do you think he's been honest with you?

These should be your concern.

Failure of government at all level to get kids off the street.

Remove kids from parent that place them on the streets

Arrest the parents and put the kids in training off some sorts or adoption into a family that has the means to care for the child.

This must be done with force!

Zero tolerance to kids trading or begging on the roads.

I don't know yet. I wouldn't say if he is nice or not as I know nothing about him.
I met him during my NYSC , he used to visit his friend who was my lodge mate .
Though he do come to my room and we will gist on almost everything and if I have anything I will offer but I never knew it will leads to this cause if I had , I would have put an end to it before this .
He said God spoke to him about us , I wonder how God will speak to just one person if he really want the union to hold .
He never showed any interest untill after our service year and he comes to my room almost everyday .
