Those into ICT and law can make such amount in a year, but it is usually difficult for an average American to save such amount. Most people who make it big time in Nigeria are mostly politically connected. Also same goes to yahoo yahoo guys, who earn large from fraud deals. The most important thing first is to keep moving while strategizing on making it big. With all the millions one make in Nigeria, how safe is the person and he's/her family members? This should be put into consideration.

Yes,I summarized that in comparing the working system to that of Nigeria but an average Nigerian has no plans except to go abroad,if u are not going there with plans,it would be worse than Nigeria where u are managing, many Nigerian do not even have places to sleep and I know of a few that committed crimes just to get themselves deported as they had no money to come back home, only rich people and people who know what they are doing enjoy their migration to America

-It would be myopic to generalise and say; “..an average Nigerian has no plans except to go abroad..”.

-Expectations and dreams do change or get modified over time. I’m actually in favour for most Nigerians to travel abroad atleast once and see for themselves what their fellow human beings can achieve. Isolation, which most Nigerians faces today, is a terrible thing - it’s a necessary ingredient for backwardness.

It's not myopic, most people on social media express their interest to just leave Nigeria and it is even common knowledge in the society, you might be in favour but you aren't even checking the factors. Most Nigerians can't even feed and clothe themselves well and you are saying they should travel abroad once to see.A man with one child and a wife will spend at least a million to travel to America, how many can afford that?if they use all their means to even afford that, how do they survive in America?won't they feed and pay bills?
u say dreams change over time but someone that changes dreams anyhow is not likely to achieve much, successful people concentrate on their dreams from the beginning, check the likes of Ronaldo,Messi,Gates and Will Smith...I stand strongly on my point that only serious-minded and rich Nigerians should be interested in migrating abroad

Traveling to America can be related to relocating to search for an enabling environment to promote whatever your plan is!,
Not everyone is into crime and other form of illegal activities.
As an immigrant who had tried so many time in Africa, your small try in America can give you a leap into your destiny cos all you need to be successful are readily available.
How many people live a quality life style in Nigeria? In term of getting what you need as at the time you want it.. You don't have to bother yourself with building a house cos the mortgage company is ready to give you support as long as you have good credit, the light and water company supplies 24 hours, the groceries store are always opening , education system is made easy and available for all on grants and scholarship with student loans as an option. Insurance is responsive for any circumstances (medical, accident death etc) and finally you can switch in between job and if you loose your job unemployment benefit is available.

Depends what you do in America. If you work for somebody or company, I don't care if you are a doctor, engineer or lawyer, or mere warehouse worker, your income will be limited by tax even if you live frugally because you have no control of your taxes and you will shed almost 50% in taxes if you make more across taxes (federal, state, property and estate). Lets say you make $150k, government collect almost $75k in taxes across. You are left with $75k, after your house, car, emergency and personal expenses, you re left with $10-20k in the bank every yr. You can live a comfortable life but you will never be wealthy!

Now, if you own your own business, not mom and pop kiosk, I mean real business over $500k in revenue, you will have more control of your taxes. Once you understand how America works, which most Nigerians or black immigrants never understand anyways...just living the American dream blindly( big house and nice cars) and fatally in debt, you will know that America rewards business owners and entrepreneurs. Most Asian immigrants understand this which is why they own their own business and don't work for people!

Any Nigerian you know that is very very wealthy in America, has his/her own big business. These are not small boys and girls, they have over 5 employees (that's over $200k/90million in payroll a year assuming $45k each employee a yr), business location cost $500k-$5million. They rarely pay taxes because their business give them that advantage. Go and read why and how the rich in America pay zero to no taxes...actually government doesn't want you to if you create job, invest or an entrepreneur!
Wow I just learnt a whole lot...

Someone spent 15m on her mum's burial you just calculated she must have made X20 of that to have spent that Amount. What a wrong assumption! Secondly you cut of family members so u can gather 15m , you are so spinless, to say the least. Just pray nothing happens to you that would require the attention of your family members. Arrant nonsense

Top tier jobs, athlete, music star, drug dealer, a con man, G boy can, the rest are getting by. Burial happens once, she could have saved or borrowed for it, perhaps also people could have contributed. What type of burial, do you spend 20million on, burial in dubai?

Oga, rent is not fixed anywhere in the world.

Oga that price he stated is fair in the USA. Unless you want him to relocate to ghetto area or places where he doesnt have much opportunities. If you live in a decent part of USA as a family person that price he stated is fair enough some are way higher.

Those savings could be considered as modest for upper middle income earners in the USA.

Most Nigerians will trade saving more than that for the opportunity to live without having to worry about power supply, enjoying good roads, security, living in comfort, along with other nameless benefits of living in a "1st world country".

In California, the minimum wage is $15,but not all employers honor the payment, especially if you are not yet a citizen. But other states minimum wages are even lower than California some even pay $8 to $10. But is easy to get a job in California compare to other state. If you want cheap accommodation, you can stay in the project or low income housing, but the security situation is not that good so i advice you don't. As for food,if you decide to go for junk foods, they are affordable compare to vegetables and as for women go for single moms, they are less likely to demand for Money and are looking for a serious relationship.

Don't even think of leaving, the U.S is not what you think it is.Try investing your money in real- estate in Abuja or Lagos.Buy enough houses, in 10 to 15year,you will have enough to live comfortably. But if you decide to move to U.S,make sure you become a business owner,Africa food is a big think and U.S is design for business owners not for workers.

The worst advice you can give anyone is to invest in Nigeria especially property. Over the course of your life the real value of most Nigerian properties will fall because the Naira always falls and we are effectively a dollar economy. Ask the average middle class Nigerian pensioner if the investments they made 40 years ago are giving them a comfortable living in retirement today.

If you want to invest in property invest abroad so your rental income is Naira proof. Anybody investing in naira assets should understand that in 20 years time naira will be N2000 or N3000 to $1

I am a businessman and the thing is I am in for money in any choice I make. I made around 22 million in savings last year. Though I cut family and girlfriends off my life to achieve that and am in Nigeria.

But seeing the doings of people outside The country, there was an America based lady that spent over 12 million naira on her mother's burial. For her to spend that much I believe she will have 20x of that amount.

At least for an upright thinking fellow, I feel like am making less so am thinking of relocating. Can I make over 22 million yearly in savings in USA, If no how much can I save? Talk from your personal experience pls, Let stop deceiving each other pls, How much did you save annually in USA? Please let be sincere.
Speaking as someone who once lived and worked in South Korea, I made around 2.5million monthly and lived decently, and also did some business (buying cars and bicycles and sending back to Naija), I guess I made more than 30m annually combined.

And as someone who have childhood friends living in the US who we share our experiences, I have a friend who is a nurse in the US and he earns around $8,000 - $12,000 monthly before tax. During the covid-19 last year he relocated to New York and was earning around $120 per hour, so you can check it.

He has completed 2 big houses (2 storey buildings) in Nigeria that he spent at least 50million each (buying lands included) between 2012 to last year.

Another one who works outside the medical field earns between $7,000 to $10,000 before tax monthly.

But if you earn the amount you said in Nigeria, you don't need to relocate, just plan well and send your spouse or kids to US or any good European country for security and future insurance.

You are doing well brother grin
