Don't even think of leaving, the U.S is not what you think it is.Try investing your money in real- estate in Abuja or Lagos.Buy enough houses, in 10 to 15year,you will have enough to live comfortably. But if you decide to move to U.S,make sure you become a business owner,Africa food is a big think and U.S is design for business owners not for workers.

The worst advice you can give anyone is to invest in Nigeria especially property. Over the course of your life the real value of most Nigerian properties will fall because the Naira always falls and we are effectively a dollar economy. Ask the average middle class Nigerian pensioner if the investments they made 40 years ago are giving them a comfortable living in retirement today.

if you bought property in lekki 7 years ago, the value hasnt really gone up but wheras dollar was 150 in 2015, it is 460 today so your property for all intents and purpose has fallen 66%!!! it is only worth 1/3 what it was worth in 2015!!! If you bough property abroad and are collecting rent on it. Not only has your property retained it's value at the very least but your rental income is in forex so whenever naira falls your naira income just goes up to match!

If you want to invest in property invest abroad so your rental income is Naira proof. Anybody investing in naira assets should understand that in 20 years time naira will be N2000 or N3000 to $1

Instead of traveling to the US own an offshore company there and do business there from Nigeria

It's easier said than as it is in reality.
You will have to spend @least 5years in America to make sure things are put right and the locomotives of operations in the hands of competent and reliable workers.
I'll always advocate for online investments or ventures to create long term residual income.
Imagine making $50 on a daily for the rest of your life on earth or $3k monthly with a Cash and Time investment of $8k and @most four hour work time online....
As the world is becoming a global village so many smart people are getting to know that your location can't impede your investment or income spread and profit margins.
You'll be in any part of the world and create streams of income for yourself and family. However it is better to stay where you feel safe and can access so many lovely social and human amenities reason ill relocate out of Nigeria soon.
As a youth look and connect with this new income ideology and cure your been broke issue permanently!

Average Nigerian is a Minimum wage earner is not
True... Majority of Nigerians in the US are not illegal, they went to school, graduated with a degree and earn alot

Or you into medicals and you work with Lincoln hospital in Newyork as a medical doctor then it's possible you make 15m and more

But if you hustling with blue collar job...it's really impossible...

You have lots of bills to pay which are very important for you to maintain your status as a law abiding resident...

In the states we have 3 categories of people

Wealthy/Rich

50k overdraft? you’ve made it in life , 4 million loan in Nigeria is hard , So a bank will release a money for your bills and overdraft you because they know you will pay ? That’s a big man shit, it’s very easy , Pay the overdraft and overdraft it again , just make sure the bank don’t shut the account
but i can get a loan of N10 Million here in Nigeria, though i don't like borrowing, because i dont like getting indebted to people or organisations.
Someone asked what type of business you do that u saved N22 Million last year. U have not answered that.

Calculate your federal income tax, state income tax, property tax, estate tax, e.t.c. and come back and tell if they don't add up to almost 50% depending if you are a high earner or single mothers with many babies. Are you? "Almost" could mean 40-50% based on income bracket. You don't get money back on your returns unless you are a low earner. I hate dumb people that cannot reason or do simple research!

I am not arguing about rent being different in different states and cities, the thing is,if you are a Nigerian and you are hoping to secure a stable job in U.S,you have to move to place like Dallas, Huston, Saint Thomas, or the sate of California, all of which have an expensive rental and homeless problem. So since you are saying rent are less than 1k per month, please point out a city in U.S were rent is less than 1k in an area that is not a project.

You are making a lot of blunders. You don’t have to move to those cities to make a decent amount of money. There a lot of remote workers software developers to be precised who live decently on a 6figure salary. However, working in parlo alto or Houston will compensate for your rent and eventually you make more money than working in the Bane of CO

The bolded is a wrong belief of us living in Nigeria.

Someone doing a project in Nigeria or spending money on a ceremony in Nigeria while they are based abroad does not equate surplus funds.

The lady's mother probably had a life insurance and she dipped her hand their for the burial. It could be she took out a loan... it could also be she went out of her pocket but the vast majority of folks doing project in 9ja. If the total value of the project is 12m, it doesn't mean they have 48m sitting around.

They probably robbed Peter to pay Paul to get the project accomplished.

-For a selfish “millionaire” who is happy in Nigeria, and probably has his own security and emergency services in case of his inevitable health emergencies, you write very badly.

-When I saw this “Dick-measuring” thread on the politics section, I knew it will end up with your above submission.

-Was it not last year or so, that your country’s data office said; majority of you Nigerians doesn’t even have up to #500k in savings. grin
My question is how many Nigerians in Nigeria make at least 22m a year never mind save that much? 10% of the population?

If 70% of Nigerians live on one dollar daily in their own country, why expect every Nigerian abroad to use your 22m yearly saving as a benchmark for success?

Some Nigerians probably earn less than 22m a year abroad but live in a sane society, their kids get great education and health care and don't have to be local govt, state govt and FG in one person to have borehole water, electricity and security via maiguard.

Our leaders go to that same America to get great medical care at the expense of the public purse.
You don't have to compare your savings with those of people abroad. Look inwards and do what is right for you.

Many people in 9ja who out of the blue began saying how so much better 9ja is (as if looking for word of your mouth) and how they were thriving 10 years back, 90% are now lamenting that they want to relocate since about 4 years now. Like I didn't say a word 10 years ago, I am also not saying a word now.

I am a big earner in Nigeria. Working for the federal govt. Have my own house in abuja, with 3 cars. Living very comfortably with my family.
But 31 Dec every year, i dont see up to N200,000 in my account. Everything earned during the year goes.

Depends what you do in America. If you work for somebody or company, I don't care if you are a doctor, engineer or lawyer, or mere warehouse worker, your income will be limited by tax even if you live frugally because you have no control of your taxes and you will shed almost 50% in taxes if you make more across taxes (federal, state, property and estate). Lets say you make $150k, government collect almost $75k in taxes across. You are left with $75k, after your house, car, emergency and personal expenses, you re left with $10-20k in the bank every yr. You can live a comfortable life but you will never be wealthy!

Now, if you own your own business, not mom and pop kiosk, I mean real business over $500k in revenue, you will have more control of your taxes. Once you understand how America works, which most Nigerians or black immigrants never understand anyways...just living the American dream blindly( big house and nice cars) and fatally in debt, you will know that America rewards business owners and entrepreneurs. Most Asian immigrants understand this which is why they own their own business and don't work for people!

Any Nigerian you know that is very very wealthy in America, has his/her own big business. These are not small boys and girls, they have over 5 employees (that's over $200k/90million in payroll a year assuming $45k each employee a yr), business location cost $500k-$5million. They rarely pay taxes because their business give them that advantage. Go and read why and how the rich in America pay zero to no taxes...actually government doesn't want you to if you create job, invest or an entrepreneur!
I always knew that a job cannot you rich.i always tell my colleague

Those in the medical field don't make as much as you guys think unless they are doctors. An average nurse makes 60-70k/yr before taxes, most are under hours restriction and limited to 60hrs a week as the field is now saturated. Only 10% of Nurses makes close to 100k/yr with minimum 15yrs experience. The 10 million you stated is within the yearly savings I stated $10-20k.

The average rent in the US is $1,249. The most affordable place to live in the US not minding availability of jobs is the city of Toledo in the state of Ohio and the average rent there is $550 which is over N198k per month. House rent for US no be moi moi!

The truth is that this guy is not looking to leave Nigeria or his business. He is in a contest of some sort between who earns more. Him or someone in the US and he's trying so hard to justify that he makes more. Remember he constantly asked for someone to tell him their exact savings.

He has no issue cutting off his family so he can save more, or being with a partner. It is obvious this kind of person will literally do anything for money and is threatened when his money is threatened.

He does not want to hear that anyone he knows is doing better. This fear kicked in when he saw first a lady that spent 12m, then he constantly refers to himself as poor. He is trying to compensate for what attributes he does not have using money.

Brother, money is a lot, but it is not everything. You are not in a competition with anyone. Saving 22 million a year cannot make up for some things that family and friends will bring to you. Stay on your lane and do what is best for you. But most importantly, enjoy your life with the people you love that loves you.

My brother I heard all this talk from people 10 years ago. How they have bought a new car in 9ja, etc.
Now they say 9ja nor be country o, na messed up place, I want to relocate for my kids sake, etc. I just say "eiya". I never told anyone I was flexing abroad but when talking they use style to veer into how dem dey make am in 9ja. I got fed up with their game of comparison and I always avoided that topic.

Me that stayed abroad, didn't I think of my children before staying or they think it wasn't a sacrifice to stay abroad?

The sky is big enough for all Birds to fly. Relocate if you want to, stay if you want to stay.
