This is what the northern governors ought to have done long ago, instead of saying the security is in the hand of federal government. These people know the kaduna terrain far better than a military man from Ekiti posted to Kaduna

ESN is not backed by the Nigerian constitution. The SE states all have similar apparatus. You don't see pictures because nobody has anything to prove.

Amotekun and other security apparatus outside the police, army, navy, air force, nscdc, immigration are not recognised by constitution either. Just that they became a necessity when the situation demanded just like the ESN too. Well why will I complain any further when ESN won that war and ESN has proven to be the most effective among them all cus politicians did not create it and thus could not hijack it like amotekun. Be that as it may, great kuddos to governor El-Rufai. The most potent governor of the entire northern region. That's a nice step if they will indeed act with transparency, and honesty.

Amotekun and this one is formed and backed by the state governments. In the case of ESN, it was formed by Kanu and the South East governors have refused to back them nor recognise their activities. A good example of my assertion is the calling of Federal govt to attack ESN by governor Hope Uzodinma, even to the extent of visiting Buhari to tell him personally.

Not federal laws which is wrong. Security is under the exclusive legislative list meaning it's only the national assembly (not the state houses of assembly) that has the constitutional powers to create it. Even at that, it is the 1999 constitution that provides for the security outfits in Nigeria b4 you start having the subsidiary legislations like the police act, efcc act, armed forces act, etc. So, before you can legally create amotekun as provided by the law, you have to amend the constitution to incorporate amotekun there. Was the constitution amended to allow amotekun or any other security apparatus into legal existence? NO! However under the doctrine of necessity, the South West created it. That same necessity warranted the existence of ESN. The only difference is that while politicians created amotekun, it's not the same with ESN and that's why amotekun is hyjacked by politicians but ESN is not. Rather, ESN is more active. If not for Sunday Igboho (God bless him) and OPC (God bless them), Yoruba land would have been successfully invaded by the jajaweeds.

Unlike their western counterpart, the South east governors failed to listen to the voice of reason and necessity..they are all drunk and suffering from hangover..
getting wiped out by herdsmen, is not an option so the people decided to que behind esn thus ESN has become a child of necessity..
I'll be much more baffled if you northerners fail to understand this

Exactly you're right..its just that the local government has said its gonna take about 100years to get all of them finally registered..
so while we wait, ESN will be around utill then..

opc is not registered either and nigerian police arrested them....
this is not about south east or not,your vigilante must register by the goverment....
