So guys,this is my very first publication and I want to thank God for the life given.
My family as well inspired me to. Then, I came across this woman Mrs shewrite with a golden heart and a sweet sense of humour, here on nairaland (she's a very good writer as well).

PROLOGUE



In the darkness of the night,his eyes began to make mysterious shapes out of everything he looked at.
A tree appeared in the form of a gaint's head and a tuft of grass took on the shape of a hedgehog, crawling towards him.

Micheal lost his breath,as he stared directly at the wierd shapes.

Several feet's away from him,seven pairs of white soul piercing eyes were gazing at him. He felt his palms begin to sweat and his legs began to shake as panic took over his whole body.

What do you think destiny has installed for you?

RUN! RUN!! RUN MICHEAL.

Were the only words my spirit shared with me,as I saw blood flowing from every direction.







A life filled with pain,betrayal,blood shed,adventure and sizzling romance.

CHAPTER ONE




Hiding under the broken old table,abandoned in the dark corners of the basement. His heart skipped, every minute he heard the approaching footsteps which he wished would go away.

 

Kri kri kri , the footsteps approached until Micheal saw the shadows of a girl in her mid teens and suddenly,she jumps out.

Cassandra! That's cheating. You are a cheat,you knew I was there the whole time.

Yes yes yes!  Whatever loser. 

That's enough both of you screamed Mrs James

You're both late for school. Cassandra,your driver won't be coming to pick you up today,due to reasons best known to him.

 

But,dad said he resigned chipped in Cassy like I always called her

It's between them. Now,you prepare for school, Micheal will drop you off.

That statement alone widened Cassandra's smile.

 

      Few minutes later

Goodbye mom! Goodbye dad!   Shouted the two teenagers.

My names are Micheal Swan Eridicovonivuru.

I know,it's not one of the common names you hear everyday. Born into a family of four,being the only son and having to deal with the troubles of my only sister Cassandra, ha! We're like a cute couple.

My father is European while Mom is African. I have never been to Africa though but,I know sooner than later,I'll see myself there.

Good morning Swan,hope you swam before coming to school today? *Shouted Jude,the most notorious guy in school*

Good morning illiterate I retorted. Cause,if you cannot pronounce or know that's it's just a name then, you are not far from an illiterate.

Now in the lecture room as everyone scurried to their seats,we all sat to discuss school business as usual.

Halfway into the lecture,I received a call from an unknown caller and that one phone call changed my life forever.

Excusing myself,I went to the school garden to take the call.

Hello! Who's on the line?

Hello Micheal,you must be home in the next ten minutes.

Okay,who is this and why exactly am I coming home?

You must be home in the next ten minutes and you must come alone. Failure to do so will result to some deadly consequences.

Before he dropped the call,I heard some muffled noises through the phone and immediately,I knew something was wrong.

I began to ponder who might be danger. Could it be Cassy? But,I dropped her off at school this morning.

Could it be my parents? 

Oh well,whoever it is,I have lectures to complete.

CHAPTER TWO





Is anything the matter? Asked Nneka my long time crush. She is from the Eastern part of Nigeria,a transfer student to be precise.

Was I too loud? I asked in return. She only giggled and walked past me.

After lectures which seemed to take a whole month to come to an end,I put a call through to Cassandra and told her to wait while I come pick her up.

All through the ride back home,I barely spoke to Cassy and I'm sure she noticed my disturbed state.

You have to wait here while I go inside *I requested* 

Sure but,why? She asked

Just stay here. I repeated

Quietly opening the front door,breathing in as fast as possible. There was nothing to panick about cause,everywhere was as quite as a graveyard.

Summoned courage to go to my parents bedroom,I decided to knock first but disappointingly,there was no response. Turning the knob,the door went ajar and what I saw was what I would describe as the most horrific scene in all of my entire life.

My dad and mom were laid down separately and they were both Stark naked. With Mom in bed and dad lying helplessly on the bare floor. Blood covered the whole room and the once white bedspread was soaked in blood.

What is going here? I was fixed at a spot,didn't know whether to run,keep staring or fall down as well. I remember standing there for almost good thirty minutes till Cassandra's voice called me back to life.

Help me!! Help me!!

Cassandra!! Totally forgot about her being in the car the whole time. As I was about running out,I felt someone hold my leg. Turning around,I noticed my mom was still alive but,fighting to remain so.

Mom!! Mom!! Please stay with me. I know you can hear me,please don't go! 

What happened mom,who did this? Why did they do this?

Mom we love you,please don't leave us alone int his cruel world. Remember the picnic went for last week? You told us you love us mom and you'll never leave us. Why are you doing this now?

With tears running down her already dying cheek,she gave out a very big smile and coughed a whole mouthful of blood to my face. I knew she was fighting for her life and that broke me down completely. Remembering all the moments we've spent together,family times.

I couldn't help but cry like a toddler.

No No my child,you'll come out fine if only you don't allow the world influence you negatively. She spoke in between struggles. Trust no one but,yourself. 

We love you son. Was the only statement I heard before I felt her cold hands. I didn't even get a chance to tell her how much I love her too.   crying

No!! No!! No!!! You can't do this to me mom! You can't do this to us. No!!

After lying down beside their lifeless bodies for awhile,you know,telling them how school was and all,I remember Cassy was screaming for help the last time.

Oh No!

With my clothe all drenched in blood,I came out only to discover that Cassy was no longer in the car…………….

Cassandra is nothing but a virtous young woman. To me, she was more mature than any lady I've come across. Smart,her smile,playful attitude and so many things that can describe the word perfect.

Who would want to kidnap innocent Cassy without a reason?   I'm only ninteen years,just few months left before I clock twenty and I'm having all this nightmares.


At this point,I just want to wake up from this terrible sleep. Pinching myself several times,I noticed nothing happened. Well,I think my mom will come wake me up.

Just as I thought mom was coming,I got a call from the same unknown caller again.


Hello! Who are you? What do you want ? I know all this is a joke. Is Cassy there with you? Are my parents there too?


Micheal,your parents are dead,all because of you.


I'm dreaming right? Tell my mom to come wake me up,I don't want this dream anymore *burst into tears* 


Micheal,you have ten minutes to bring to me the government,insurance,land,house and public funds document your father gave you. My men will meet you at Tommy Tom's restaurant. Failure to do so,Cassandra will bear the consequences. And yes,don't bother calling the police cause,you won't live to tell the tale.


Please sir,Cast is just sixteen and doesn't know much about about................ Hello! Hello!


I noticed people taking camera shots of me in my blood drenched clothe while I made the call. Who cares?


In any case all this happened to be real,Cassy is the only family I have left. I have to come up with a plan,I'll make my parents proud even in their death.


Yes! My parents.

I screamed as I rushed back into the house to confirm is all this is real. Lo and behold,their dead bodies were no longer in the room but,the bedspread was still covered in blood.


Is someone trying to trick me? Could it be my parents?


I Micheal, will have to find out.


Quickly glanced at the wristwatch on my wrist and it was already two minutes gone. Without wasting much time,I jumped into the car with the documents in place and Tommy Tom's was the only destination on my mind.........................
