That is one of the best performance I've seen all season, bar man u first leg. We limited their midfield and attack to the barest minimum, we dominated them and played our game

Pointers

1... I think lacazette brings the best out of our attackers and midfielder with his interplay and exchanges. I think one of the reason we also dominated them was lacazzete playing that 9. But aside that, man is poor. As in, he hates 18 and goals(except pk, and kudos to his well taken pk tho). I remember in the 2nd half, one of our midfielder was pushing ball forward and lacazzete was glued to the middle expecting a pass instead of making that run. In fact, lacazzete off the ball runs is one of the worst.

2... ESR and Tierney, what a game by the duo. Those two finished that left flank to the fullest. I think one thing we tend to underappreciate about ESR is that he's so good at one touch pass. He already knows who he wants to give even before the ball gets to him, and he also knows where to drift into space to give options of a pass to either his midfielders or Tierney. This is aside his good work rate of helping the defence. As for Tierney, as someone says, he's really one who takes responsibility wen the team needs to create and he should be lauded for such

3.... What a game by Gabriel. Not only did he shut down Kane but was good at reading the game well, either aerially or interceptions. Good game for Luiz also.

4.. There's the reason why most of us clamoured for Cedric to start and he showed the reason why. Beautiful bombing forward and putting in crosses. It's evident we're not good aerially cos none of our attackers of the day was are naturally good aerially.

5... I think this is one of the best game for odegaard with us. Really influenced game in the middle and made so many right decisions.

6... I think saka was a bit off ystdy. Not a bad day for him, but not as his usual standard we know him to be. Maybe exhaustion is taking its toll. I hope his injury isn't lengthy.

7... I don't know the reason why we dropped momentum after the red card. Ideally, it's suppose to be Tottenham who should. On a lighter note, I think Mou would have just thought he should have started with red card since if that's what would make his team dominate arsenal. But then, that shouldn't take away our improved mentality Arteta has instilled in this team. Arsenal of before under that pressure would have taken 1point out of that game. Not saying we're there yet, but I'm seeing improvements.

Kudos to Arteta for the tactics. I drop my Biro here.

Onto Olympiakos on Thurs.

Arteta still want another CB, what will be the fate of Saliba and Dino
IMO Arteta should sell saliba to buy the frankurt guy he prefer and make Dino a squad player
We
Sell Chambers, release luiz
Sell Bellerin(Replace with Lamperty or Aarons)
sell Lacazette bring in Balogun and Martinelli i don't care what will become of nketiah
sell xhaka everyone know how i'm not comfortable with that guy since we got him we haven't qualify for UCL, buy bissouma and make el neny squad player.
Return ceballos to Madrid we have jerry curl, willock,AMN and Torreira to replace him angry
We need another leftback im looking at willems former newscastle player he can play left fullback or left back
We are stucked with willian and pepe so we die there and oh we still have nelson
We strike a deal with madrid for Odergaard another loan or permanent

Am i making sense or just dreaming grin grin
Buying and selling should be able to balance each other out.

Jerrycurl, willock and Amn in arsenal midfield? Hmm.
Me I don't buy that oo. Of the 3 sef, I will prefer guen, tho I don't know about his progress this season. But if ceballos goes back, we need to buy another cm and manage torreira and guen also. Sell willock and Amn

Each time I saw Cedric sprawling on the floor yesterday I just giggled.... cheesy it was funny seeing him lying on the floor and Harry Kane still almost hitting the target.

It would be hard to let go Luiz because ofvthe leadership he brings plus his ball distribution and ability to pass from defence.

Xhaka balances Tierney when he overlaps. That is a key tactics for Arteta and so Xhaka will also be difficult to sell as there would be few possible replacements.

Also sometimes we forget Xhaka is the real leader of this team.

You see Luiz and Xhaka. Those two are guys Arteta likes. Esp Luiz. That's why wen guys here says luiz should go, he brain farts, he does this and that, I just smile. Arteta knows Luiz brings more than what his cb needs in his team. Xhaka too is another person. Even tho they make one or two errors, Arteta feels their positives always outweighs their negatives..

Well, till we buy another good midfielder that Arteta loves, xhaka is here to stay. As for Luiz, his time sha is short here cos of his age.

Well, I think the team learnt from the juventus mistake in the champions league.
If only they had a Cedric, they would have been in Q/f now grin

Absolutely. Every coach knows what they want. Same between Guen and Emery. Fans may not like a particular player for one reason or the other but the coach knows what that player brings especially in achieving his tactical plan. That's what Xhaka is to Arteta. As long as he is fit he will play, as if he has no substitute. I remember when people said Partey will bench Xhaka in DM and I laughed because I have always known that Xhaka is not a DM and Partey would rather partner him in CM.

Luiz's contract ends this year but I won't be surprised if he gets another extension because of what he brings. His performance this year is far better than last year.

Most of our current players are just mentally lazy. It’s all about the money and Instagram now.

to be honest, It’s the case with the current footballers at large. Irrespective of club.
I see a shadow of that seriousness in our midfield.

if we eliminate those self induced errors, Arsenal's road to glory is near.

Magical nights at Highbury!
Henry was unplayable and absolutely classy player. He scored some of the best goals I have ever seen and understood how to command the ball with his shot technique.
That word.... unplayable!! we need such players in any XI. we aren't far... The Future is Arsenal.

I like Mou from way back. but the subs he did against us shows he's losing it already tactically. He should get a ball playing defender if he wants to succeed against such style of play from opponents. cos Dele Alli added nothing, same for Sissoko. Bale could have being a better stay after that red for them.

The subs were typical mourinho, we had freedom in the midfield sissoko is to shut it down cos ndobele didn't and couldn't.
Holberg was doing a 2 man work, it would have been difficult if dier was there

I just watched "open mic" version of the north London derby highlights on Arsenal's Facebook page with Tierney in focus. Trust me, that young Scott gives me joy....he's highly spirited, 200% serious and a future captain material. His level of ginger is unrivaled.

Watching the video I also understand why Xhaka was initially made captain; he has leadership qualities and doesn’t keep quite watching out for others. I think Xhaka’s leadership quality exceeds his skill set as a footballer. Only wish he’s a better player than he is currently

o
I checked it and it's so convincing. We need that guy long term. He brings a lot of drive for the team. He's like the infield manager similar to Xhaka.

I love the side, where we conceded the goal against Tottenham and he was like
" how come we create so many chances but we can't score. Come on guys!!!""

See the ginger.

Even when we scored the winning goal he was like "no more counterattack guys, no more" grin grin.

The way he always communicates with ESR. "Emile Emile". Now I know why they have that connection grin.
