Owners of the brand new Tesla Model Y continue to be amazed at the “high technology” used in the assembly of these crossovers: fasteners from furniture parts and electrical tape were found.

The first production copies of Tesla Model Y began to arrive at customers in March of this year, and they immediately showed numerous defects: poor painting, scratches, dirt and protruding threads in the upholstery, sagging door seals, crooked gaps, parts falling off, etc. Six months have passed since then, but the quality problems of the Model Y do not seem to have disappeared: reports appeared on the Tesla Motors Club forum about the artisanal mounting of one of the radiators in the front of the crossover.

The purpose of these parts in an electric car is not completely clear – they are not in the corporate spare parts catalog. Presumably, the pads are needed to protect the radiator from damage by the metal clamp during shaking.

The owners of other crossovers of the same model promptly opened them and also found furniture stumps on the radiators, and their color and size are different for all, and on some copies the linings were not cut, but broken, that is, they were literally prepared for installation on the knee. “Someone drove to the nearest Home Depot to provide the required quarterly figures,” – ironically the author of the original message (The Home Depot is a large American chain of building supermarkets).

However, if we take the largest markets, then the “minus” was recorded only in Europe (70,533 units, – 14%; hereinafter – the statistics of CarSalesBase), while in the States and China demand increased (32,078 and 62,739 units, respectively , + 5% and + 3%). Maybe that’s why, after the planned update, the cross is so easy to confuse with the pre-reform version?

So, the XC60 has retouched the grille and bumpers, the body color palette and the range of rims have been expanded. Inside, there is a new multimedia complex based on the Android operating system (access to Google Play, Assistant and Maps), while the screen seems to be the same. Note that the first such multimedia was received by the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric cross, and now, in addition to the XC60, it is also announced for the Volvo S90, V90 and V90 Cross Country of the 2022 model year.

At the end of 2020, Aston Martin (full name Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings Plc) brought in £ 322.9 million in losses, and its total debt amounted to £ 726.7 million. Car sales against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic decreased by 32% to 4,150 units, the DBX crossover became the most popular model – 1,516 units were sold, despite the fact that they began to ship it to customers only in the second half of the year.

In the fall of 2020, the new head of Aston Martin Tobias Moers, a native of Mercedes-Benz, announced the expansion of cooperation between his current and former employers, which implies an increase in the share of the German company in Aston Martin to 20% and the use of German hybrid and electric on future Aston Martin models power plants.

BMW intends to revamp the 8 Series next year: first images

The Bavarian car will receive a refreshed appearance and motor line.

Overall, BMW sales in Europe are doing well, with over the past few years generally positive. However, the 2020th “knocked down” many, including the Bavarian brand. So, at the end of last year, dealers sold a total of 673,724 cars on the old world market, which is 18.3% less than in 2019. If we compare this figure with the results of the “big German three”, it turns out that the brand was unable to overtake Mercedes-Benz (749,162 units, -17.4%), but left behind Audi (601,844 units, -18.8 %).

The current version of the BMW 8 series appeared on the market in 2018. Now the company is preparing to update the model: the proof of this is the camouflaged prototypes of the “refreshed” BMW 8 series Coupe and Gran Coupe recently caught during road tests. At the same time, the film hid only the front part and stern of the two- and four-door cars, so, apparently, the Bavarians decided to stay on the facelift for now.

There are no official images of the refreshed model yet, so artists have the opportunity to fantasize about this topic. The designer of the Spanish edition motor presented his version of the updated “two-door” 8 series.

Judging by the render, the “refreshed” coupe will receive new headlights with narrower headlights. LED daytime running lights can also get a different look (similar to BMW 5 series). Also, the updated car got a new bumper with different air intakes.

The concept of a new version of the famous model will be presented at the end of March as part of the Easter Jeep Safari (the event will be held in Utah, USA).

The Jeep brand is now owned by the auto giant Stellantis, it was formed at the beginning of this year. The new player in the global car market is the result of the merger of the Italian-American concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the French PSA group. Let us remind you that the “old” names of the parties participating in the merger were abolished, while all brands retained their former names. Stellantis ranks fourth in the world in terms of the volume of cars produced.

Last month it became known that Stellantis had filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office – the name Magneto was then discussed. According to the information specified in the application, this trademark applies to “cars, namely concept cars.”

At the same time it was reported that Jeep is likely to present a concept of a new version of the Wrangler SUV, which will be given the name Magneto, at the end of this month. The debut will take place as part of the Easter Jeep Safari event in Utah, USA, scheduled to kick off on March 27th. Now the company has shown teasers of two new versions of the famous model.

One of the concepts is likely to be named Magneto. It is possible that this will be a completely electric modification, which was mentioned earlier, or one of the versions created on the basis of the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid.

According to preliminary data, the new generation of the SUV will have a rechargeable hybrid version. Judging by the “drain”, a full-fledged presentation of the model is just around the corner.

The Lexus NX crossover has been in service since 2014; it underwent restyling in 2017. It would seem that it is high time to roll out the second generation model on the stage, but, no, Toyota’s premium brand is just preparing for the debut of a new cross. Ahead of us is a teaser campaign, but the design of the “second” NX is no longer a secret: a video (probably official) with a SUV was posted on the Web, and even though it has already been removed, many managed to take screenshots – they hang, for example, on the Club Lexus forum.

There are no radical changes in the appearance – the crossover, rather, has evolved. So, the new NX retained the silhouette of its predecessor, the radiator grille is still in the form of a spindle, the triangles in the windows of the front doors have not gone anywhere, the mirrors are still on separate legs. However, the optics were nevertheless replaced: the LED strips of the running lights are now integrated into the headlights, and the lights are interconnected by a luminous plate.

Inside, on the contrary, nothing reminds of the “first” Lexus NX, there is a new front panel, steering wheel and center console. The screen of the multimedia system is now built into the panel, and does not stick out of it, in addition, the touchpad has disappeared, that is, the display is touch-sensitive. NX also got hold of a virtual “tidy”, the new gearbox selector was moved closer to the driver, and the door openers are now in the armrests. There are no more analog round clocks.
