Diary product is not just for evaporated or powder milk ( of which I don’t use anywhere). There are a whole lots of others and subsequent byproducts including chesss, yogurt, fresh milk, whip creams . Go to the North, these things are common unlike in the south.

Ok let me share this true story
There is this Alhaja in Lagos Island Market (Oke Arin) where they sell provisions, she is the biggest distributor for almost all popular milk companies in Nigeria. For years she refused to sell WAMCO products (Nigeria peak and three crowns milk). I don't know what the issue was. But everyday then, you would see WAMCO company sending representatives to her store to beg her to change her mind, but she would send them away frantically. She said she wanted to sell only imported Holland Peak. To make matters worst, she was selling the imported milk at almost the same price other were selling the Nigeria Peak. Major stores all over Nigeria were patronizing her, sometimes distributors who stocked Nigeria Peak would not be able to sell and the milk would eventually go bad.
If someone like that is left unchecked, how will the companies in Nigeria survive? The only option for those companies is to use their influence and political connections to approach policymakers to introduce policies that would restrict importation of milk. Ordinary consumers are just puns in the whole game. The Alhaja in our story has been eventually arm twisted to start selling WAMCO products.

EU! Looking for a dumping ground for their excess milk production. The day I saw Italian farmers discharging and pouring out on the floor drums of excess milk that I knew that Africans are still far. Milk is one of the cheapest commodities in Europe but one of the most expensive in Nigeria.

Our dairy farmers in the north should increase milk yield per cow than this archaic and outdated nomadic way of animal farming.

Everybody is trying to protect his own. These EU countries have excess diary products and they are looking for countries with enough population and purchasing power to dump it. Unfortunately, Nigeria has local diary products from the north

It would be hard for the poiicy in Nigeria to change because the administration will do anything to protect cattle business which is dominated by the North.

It is obvious that many commentaries here don't understand the full implications of the EU complaint and the complaints objections.

Think outside the box for once. Nigerians are struggling with fulani cattle rearers owners of the cattlles in Nigeria and possibly suppliers of majority of meat and milk products in the Nigerian landscape. Now majority of Nigerian have not tasted EU foreign meat and milk products before, so they don't have any knowledge of what they are missing. Both in terms of quality and costs to their pockets. Also the costs in terms of human losses due to herders/ farmers clashes.

But one federal government officials is blocking the cows products supply to the Nigerian market because they are in power. Despite all the effects of such blockade on the Nigerian populace.

Let me tell you that Mrs okonjo iweala is tactically complaining on your behalf to buhari government that the world is watching what he is doing, good or bad, concerning cows products in the Nigerian market wrt to fulani cattle rearers and farmers clashes. May the good Lord help your understanding and know the people who are working for you and against you.

Besides, without this report, we can never know that the wicked government of buhari is blocking cows products from coming to Nigeria
I am sure that the fulani government is blocking many other items without your knowledge because the various federal government ministries are currently occupied by only the people Buhari know. That is only people doing fulani bidding.

Mr. Man I am a northerner and I am telling you those cows cant produce in commercial quantities.
You cant get the real yoghurt ( the one they call kindirmo) anymore except you venture deep into the bush. The fulanis themselves now make their yoghurt from dano powdered milk ( the type they sell in sacks). It is cheaper and less stressful to make. Fresh milk is out of the question.
