Hello inverter pros. Pls this small boy needs your guidance. I put together a DIY solar system of 1200watts and it's working perfectly.
But today I opted to charge it with 2.7kw rated generator and it's sparking. Pls what am I doing wrong? I really want to charge it with the generator.

How do you mean 'sparking'?

How have you been charging it before?

Pls also note; generators sometimes reverses current which is not good for inverters

It is a souer inverter. When I plug it into a light source from a generator. It immediately begins to make that kind of noise like it's short circuiting. I Even thought it had burnt at first only to find out dat it's still working.
I've tried like three or four times and d result stays dsame.
The point source still functions and d inverter still works.

No. Dis is d first time. But I once tried it on a smaller Gen and it worked but burnt d coil which I'm trying to fix right now.

It's a complete solar setup. A 100ah battery, 30amp charge controller, 1kva souer inverter with charger and a 150watt solar panel.
So it's been charging with d solar panels all along. But I tested it once on a smaller generator and if worked but burnt d coil. Like I earlier stated.

You may need the attention of an expert. Hard to tell why you experience this arcing from. It could be a lot of things, but an experienced tech person is just what you need.

Thanks. But two things tho. 1st, about four days ago it rained heavily with a lot of thunder and lightning. So I quickly put of d inverter. 10mins later, I heard dis same spark sound from d inverter area. Just once.
2nd is, the technician dat wired d Gen, tried to replace a fuse on d plug. So he brought some flexible wires n wound Dem in place of d fuse. While d fuse was still present.

I'll check his wiring tho. But it works for all other AC appliances.

I guess the tech rewired your fuse by using that strip of wire. Is there any thunder protection and earthing where you are staying?

ManyMany rs forn forfuse to open, one may be facurrent, others may be exceeding the fuse rated current.

Eg if the fuse is rated 10A (which translates to 2300w). This fuse may open if you run load greater than this. A short (live and neutral touching) can producing fault current that may exceed this rated current.

Anyways hard to tell what your problem could be as I''m not there. Look around for an experienced tech person to check what your issue might be.

dont be too sure, 118L freezer is about the smallest size.

Is your inverter wired directly into your house DB to supply appliances directly just as your PHCN or Gen does or you are using an extension cord where you plug things you want the inverter to power?

If the inverter is wired into your house directly and supplying wall sockets, then you are backfeeding it when you plug it into thesame wall socket to charge - you are basically joining the input of inverter to the inverter's own output and even worse when you add the Gen output as well.

The loads powered by the inverter must be electrically separated/isolated from the rest of the house supply - the inverter powers the inverter loads directly and you only apply mains or gen to the inverter's AC input terminals so that the internal transfer switch in the inverter can feed Gen or mains power to inverter loads (through the inverter)

You definitely need a competent person to help you sort out your wiring. I advise that you disconnect mains and gen until you figure this out - you really dont want the outputs of your inverter and Gen and mains to clash.

Words like changeover, disconnect, isolation, transfer switch, load separation e.t.c are the missing link between where you are and where you want to get to.

How much current can this HA12 move around on a sustained basis?

I measured the HA02 and while rated to move 5a balancing around, it typically did less than 0.5a - this I judged too low for practical use.

I see a benefit of this HA12 to serve as a basic battery monitor if it can display battery voltages as well as balancing current - gives a very useful indication of battery health.

Manufacturer says 1 to 10amps.
With the bluetooth, you can see the individual voltages of each battery.

Its an upgrade over the Ha02, Ha01 series. Addresses most of the cons of her predecessor s
