The yak is still the best Nigerian player to have graced the premier league. Always scoring goals for fun. Rio Ferdinand fear that guy die. His partnership with mark viduka at Middlesbrough was an explosive one. I was a big fan of yak then. His great miss in 2010 world cup against south Korea which cost us passage to the knockout phase dent his image...despite that, I still respect the yak...that iconic celebration and smile grin

Yakubu Aiyegbeni, a Nigeria made his debut with Portsmouth in the 2003/04 season, scoring 95 goals throughout his stay in the league. He played for Middlesbrough F.C. in 2005, and made a huge impact in Boro where he netted 25 goals. He joined Everton in 2007 before ending his PL career at Blackburn Rovers. He ended his career with Coventry City F.C in 2017.

Only two other Africans have scored more goals than Yakubu

13 players outscore Yakubu on hat-tricks in epl and thats makes him number 1.
If we were to rank who top scorers in the national team, will you rank kanu ahead of yekini just because kanu play 4 arsenal and in england?

Because of his blunder in the 2010 world cup, it is the wonderful thing that Aiyegbeni was denied the first spot on this list. May he never be given a no. 1 sport for any good thing relating to Nigeria. I remember how he stood in front of the post with a stupid smile that day. The most annoying thing is coaches kept on inviting him for tournaments! God bless Stephen Keshi for the good riddance to bad rubbish!

Just look at the distance to the goal post and it is the 8th wonder of the world how he missed from there.

Although YAK broke the hearts of many nigerians by his glaring goal mouth miss in 2010 world Cup, he's by far the most prolific attacker Nigeria has ever had. Dude was consistent from the day he broke into SE squad. Scoring a total of 95 goals in his EPL career.
