Work has really progressed. Certainly looks like they will be open for business this year. Xclusive store will be a great addition to the sky view of the state.

Yes it's elevated, it built on top of House of assembly tunnel, though the slab was reinforced with columns

Imo state is the unemployment capital of Nigeria. This should dominate discussion here. This is very shameful. Imo state has slipped into a failed state status. Imo state should be fast in looking towards industrialisation, that's the only sure way to massive job creation and economic emancipation, if not Imo state will continue in this vicious circle of being the unemployment capital Nigeria.

This year was the only year we have unemployment spike, which is a major wake up call.
Imo state should welcome investment from all sectors not only industrialization, Agro, ict etc

But on a more serious note, should we be building this or preparing for the eventual collapse of Africa's soviet union , the state of Nigeria now demands the governments in the east seat up and start putting their house together

The tourism and hospitality industry which accounts for a high percentage of Imo economy was the most hit by Covid-19 pandemic and its associated movement restrictions. It is understandable that there'd be loss of jobs but the other factor is the wrong or badly advised land politics started by Ihedioha and continued by Uzodinma. The real estate sector was one of the fastest growing sectors in Imo State but got stalled because of politics. In the next one year I believe there'll be improvements.

Do u guys believe the statistics that Imo is the unemployment capital of Nigeria? I can tell u for free that no statistics in Nigeria is ever correct cos we don't have data base for it. Ask yourself how they arrived at their conclusion, infact the method used in arriving at their conclusion is very funny and at same time annoying, the methodology does not and cannot reflect reality. Such a stupid country, how come the least unemployed state (according to the statistics) is not better in any way than the state they termed worst? Unlike when the western countries or even many African countries dish out statistics, obviously u see it from the lives of the citizens, but in ours the reverse is the case. Another funny statistics is that Nigeria unemployment rate is about 33%, we all know that this figure is wrong cos in actual sense it should be far higher than this. What the funny statistics is saying is that 67% of employable Nigerians are employed, so does that sound true to u? If that is the case that means our case is not as bad as we make it look.

You forgot to look at this issue from another perspective. Self employment including subsistence farming and petty trading are the highest employers of labour in Nigeria whether we like it or not. When a people refuse to engage in those two then there's bound to be increased level of unemployment in their area. Another issue is underemployment which should naturally be high in Imo State because most of the people waste much of their time acquiring qualifications for non-existent jobs and end up taking the ones they manage to get with poor pay.

well good if true..made no sense to dualize owerri to orlu and leave owerri to okigwe at single lane when traffic on both roads seems to be the same and will increase in future

While I agree with some of the points you raised, there are specific points I don't personally agree with. From personal experience, for instance, I think Nigeria has a problem of underemployment than unemployment.

In other words, there are more people doing jobs that they are more qualified to do (and earning horrible incomes) than those who don't have jobs at all. If that is the case, your 67% unemployment estimate is incorrect. Take it or leave it, it's better to be underemployed than to be unemployed.

You are getting closer to why I am against the white paper crap. If the present Governor approves land for him at Oguta lake shoreline the next Governor will claim the decision is wrong because of politics and could even arrange natives of the community to claim they were not duly compensated despite the fact that it is in interest of the State. There's this beautiful diasporan estate approved by Okorocha government for a private investor along Okigwe road which has been closed and frustrated because of change in government. The investor is from Anambra State and has incurred a lot of loss because of dirty politics. You can see that Orange drugs knew this sort of politics before siting his industry in Anambra

We cannot start falling from the trees because there are pots of hot water on the fire. I detest land grab by government to compensate investors. Any genuine investor must be willing to purchase land from the owners. Any investor who runs behind the corrupt government to grab land is not an investor but swindler. Nigeria is not communist country and it is silly for corrupt government such as Imo State government led Okoroawusa to embark on land grab under the guise of investment.

Have you read the white paper? They specifically mentioned Market Square Supermarket along Orlu road, Rochas Foundation College, Orji and the Diasporan Estate along Okigwe road as lands illegally allocated by Rochas.

It is an act of hellish idiocy for Okoroawusa to hide behind the government while allocating land to himself and cronies in and around Owerri.
