Based on this report about Nigeria's focus on diversifying its economy towards non-oil exports, there are several opportunities I have spotted and ways to take advantage of them.
This includes; **Exploring high-potential non-oil products for export, considering market demand and export viability.
**Engage with FCMB and NEXIM to explore funding options for non-oil export projects and collaborations.
**Invest in improving production processes, quality control, and product innovation to meet global standards and attract international buyers.
**Explore partnerships and collaborations within the region to expand market reach beyond Nigeria's borders, leveraging initiatives like the Regional Sealink Project.
**Consider participating in government-led programs like the "Export 35 Refined" initiative to receive specialized support for specific sectors and enhance export capabilities. |

Tensions escalate as Russia warns the West against allowing Ukraine to strike deep into its territory with Western missiles. Ukraine's attack on Russia's Kursk region sparks fears of a broader conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accuses the West of playing with fire, cautioning that World War III could extend beyond Europe. President Putin vows a strong response to the attack. Allegations surface of Western involvement in providing military support to Ukraine. Omo this situation underscores the urgent need for diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation and maintain global stability. If two elephants fight, the ants suffer. |

The landscape of crime is evolving, with bank robberies now executed using sophisticated laptops(yahoo boys abi), marking a significant shift in criminal tactics. Detective Superintendent Cryan highlights that approximately €200 million has been pilfered online in Ireland over the past five years, representing only a fraction of unreported cyber-crimes. Cryptocurrency has emerged as a pivotal tool in modern money-laundering schemes, evident in recent Irish police operations where over €1 million in crypto-assets were confiscated (Dem wan continue crack down on crypto b dat). Hmmm Interpol's response includes deploying cutting-edge technology like the Global Rapid Intervention of Payments system (I-GRIP), enabling swift account freezes globally to combat financial crimes. This proactive approach aims to impede illicit money transfers across borders, with a concerted global effort underway to gather intelligence on criminal syndicates, particularly those in West Africa(what about Pakistan, Russia, India..... The stereotype don de too much o), for targeted law enforcement actions. |

emkz: Well, has Peter Obi expressed his own disappointment in losing the 2023 presidential elections?
How many times did he support the athletes?
In his lamentations, he failed to proffer solutions. He only claimed the money spent on athletes was more than what was spent in the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Because I am all for solutions and no lamentations, I like to propose as follows:
(1) We can't prepare for an event three months before when we had a clear 4-year window. We need to start preparing for the next Olympics NOW!
(2) We have certain events where we have comparative advantages. For example, swimming amd canoeing. The Niger Delta folks with preparation can easily shine here. Some people expressed surprise that break dancing was part of the Olympics. I am reasonably well traveled and I can say Nigeria has some of the best dancers in the world. We can also stand out in archery and diving given adequate preparation.
(3) We also must revive Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA), Nigerian Polytechnic Games Association (NIPOGA), Principal's Cup, National Sports Festival and get corporate organizations to participate.
(4) All tertiary institutions must make two sporting activities compulsory for students, even if it is chess. It helps the mind.
(5) Let universities provide full scholarships for talented student-athletes. They can look for a sport-loving corporate organization to endow such a fund.
(6) As a matter of urgency, let people who are truly passionate about sports take charge of sporting federations.
(7) Let us look at countries doing well and copy what they did. By identifying talents and grooming them, we can make it.
Let me start by stating that I am not disappointed in Team Nigeria. Despite the fact that the female basketball team, D'Tigress, were blocked in the last Olympics by one sports minister, they made a good showing in this year's Olympics, defeating Australia and Canada. Rene Wakama made a brilliant showing and won the best coach at the Olympics. Favour Ofili, we are sorry it did not go as planned. Train harder and you'd only get better. We'd support you the best way we can. Blessing Oborodudu, you came close the last time. We hope you'd get even better. Ese Brume, you won for us before; we have faith in you. The male relay team, you surely learnt your lessons and would avoid the mistakes next time. For the weightlifters, please work harder. For those I might have forgotten, those of us who have had to represent others understand the pressure you faced carrying the burden and hopes of a country.
I believe I speak the minds of sensible Nairalanders and Nigeria when I say:
WE ARE GRATEFUL! You have done well Chief... Buh Obi's Criticism is welcomed regardless..... |

Politics › Re: NASS, Four Others Get ₦109 Billion Allocation In One Month — Report by POV25: 2:07pm On Aug 11, 2024 |
POV25: The increase in the allocated amount could be attributed to inflation. Inflation, which refers to the general increase in prices and decrease in the purchasing value of money, can impact budget allocations in various ways.
In the context of the National Assembly and government agencies receiving higher allocations, inflation could be a factor driving the need for increased funding. The adjustment in budgets may be necessary to account for the increased costs of running these entities and implementing projects in an inflationary environment.
Therefore, while inflation can lead to higher budget allocations to accommodate rising expenses, it is crucial for governments to ensure that the increased funds are used efficiently and effectively to address the impacts of inflation and meet the needs of the population. @MyPOV Where Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMFAC)? |

lexy2014: are the people governing nigeria skill efficient required in the modern day economy? simple yes or no
what are the pressing issues?
how is "potential positive impact" an achievement that should be commended?
is nigeria not littered with unimplemented initiatives with "potential positive impact on the economy"?
how will this one be different?
what is the "potential positive impact on the economy" that this initiative have? It is not a straightforward yes or no response because some officials have demonstrated strong performance, making generalizations inappropriate. The current economic climate is one of these issues, it's commendable because it shows a proactive commitment to improvement. Nigeria does encounter obstacles with unimplemented initiatives, underscoring the importance of checks and balances institutions in the country. The potential positive impact of this initiative may involve enhancing economic growth, fostering job creation, and alleviating present economic strains. |

lexy2014: how is something that is announcement but yet to be implemented "commendable"?
are the people governing nigeria skill efficient required in the modern day economy? The commendation for announcements of this initiatives stems from their potential positive impact on the economy if implemented, addressing pressing issues. One of d fundamental beauty of democracy lies in the power of the majority to elect their representatives, allowing the electorate to judge the skills and capabilities of government officials through the democratic process of elections. Accountability bcums a serious deficit when they finally cling power. Independent institutions, transparency laws, and civil society vigilance are vital checks to enforce accountability when leaders finally consolidate power. Upholding media freedom, judicial independence, and electoral integrity complements these mechanisms to safeguard against abuses of authority. |

The Federal Government restructuring NYIF with a N110 billion capital base to support youth-led businesses is commendable. Establishing a National Youth Development Bank and promoting youth representation in government appointments is also good -unpatriotic youths should stay away please . Additionally, the loan isn't meant for gambling or chasing women. Audio or not, regardless of government assistance, the youth should leverage their skills in solving societal problems, collaborating with friends to offer solutions. Nigeria need more export-oriented businesses over fraudulent activities like yahoo yahoo. Go and learn a valuable skill that brings solutions rather than wasting all day on tiktok |

Hugetase: https://thesun.ng/fg-unveils-comprehensive-strategy-for-economic-growth-citizens-welfare/ It's a commendable effort by the Minister. Loans for the informal sector weren't mentioned; loans from government programs or financial institutions typically require business registration. The issue of farmers' insecurity must also be addressed, and we need more companies that are export-intensive. Most of our youths have a skill deficit required in the modern-day economy. To capitalize on the government's initiatives, align your business strategy with food security, inflation control, and financial support measures outlined by the Minister. Engage with relevant stakeholders, research more funding opportunities, and adapt your operations to leverage these focus areas effectively. |

The increase in interest rates in Japan could have had an impact on individuals who borrowed low-interest loans from Japan to invest in US stocks. The rise in Japan's interest rates would likely increase the cost of servicing these loans, potentially putting pressure on investors who relied on cheap borrowing to fund their stock purchases. This change in policy could have contributed to selling pressure in the market as investors may need to liquidate positions to cover higher borrowing costs, adding to the factors influencing the recent stock market decline.
The fall in shares of tech giants like Amazon, Meta Platforms Inc, and Tesla was also driven by a broader market sell-off, concerns about tech stock valuations, and fears of a looming US recession . Global market instability and expectations of a Federal Reserve interest rate cut also contributed to this decline. some persons see this as an opportunity to invest. |
Politics › Re: Violence Erupts In Jos As Crowd Defies Curfew by POV25: 9:43am On Aug 06, 2024 |
MemphitzDgreat1: FROM AN INSIDER; They are very angry at Bayo and said he lacks tact and talks too much.
Their reason is that Bayo was impatient with their plan to pitch this protest on Igbos and Peter Obi. According to them, Bayo shouldn't have called out Peter Obi before the protest because they believed that it was the reason why Igbos avoided the protest which rendered their plan useless.
If you observed on 1st August, everywhere was quiet. from Bayo to Rhino and many APC handlers. They were shocked that Igbos stayed back. Normally they should be happy because Igbos boycotted the protest but Thursday was the saddest day in their camp that they were confused on what to do next.
Attacking Northerners was never on the plan and they were strictly warned never to call out or verbally attack Northerners by their various leaders. Their initial plan was to pin the protest on Igbos and tag it IPOB protest in order to convince the North that it was all Igbo plans hence solidifying their agenda.
If you observe many of their leaders are saying that the protest is from election losers but last time I checked the protest is majorly from the North who voted Tinubu so how's the protest from election losers?
The thing is that the blame is already practiced before the protest to blame Igbos, Obidients and Peter Obi. Everything scattered the moment Igbos didn't came out. Most of them did multiple emergency meetings on Friday 2nd August to come up with ideas to somehow rope Igbos into the protest.
That's why you'll see some Igbo handles tweeting that Igbos gaslighted North into protest. Lol that's them operating Igbo handles as they did during the election to tweet Lagos is no man's land which they later confessed.
Their major problem here is that the major reason for this protest is the cost of living which is visible to everyone so they're finding it hard to use ENDSARS tactics on this one.
Do you see any of them attacking Northerners because of this protest? You won't because it's an order and as usual the agenda must again.
Kudos to Igbos for pulling a fast one on these Ronu tribal bigots." Interesting, hmmm |
