Politics › Re: Read And Vote Wisely by PP123(m): 10:11pm On Jan 21, 2025 |
Trump don become president wait for dollar to naira rate to rise more sirblend: In 2014 A friend of mine bought a 2008 Toyota Corolla Sport for 1.2million naira.
Today in 2025 that same 2008 Toyota car is sold for 9million naira.
The crazy thing about this is that 1.2m naira in 2014 was 6,000dollars. And today 9m naira is barely worth 5,500dollars. So in essence, our money has lost value by more than 700% in 10years.
Which means in 2025, You will need to pay 7times more than what you will need to pay to buy that exact same car in 2014. And this is a car that is now 17years old.
And to put it in perspective, as an average nigerian, It was far easier to get 1.2million naira in 2014 than to get 9million naira in 2025.
For instance, an intern medical doctor in 2014, who is a fresh graduate from medical school, can make 1.2million naira from 7-8months internship salary. I know this for a fact because this was my salary.
Remember that 1.2million naira was 6,000dollars in 2014.
However today in 2025, that same 6,000dollars is about 10million naira. And no intern medical doctor today in Nigeria can make 10million naira from their internship salary in 7-8months today.
We really have no idea how our lives as Nigerians has been collectively massively destroyed over the last ten years.
Copied! |

Politics › Re: What If Kemi Badenoch Were Igbo? by PP123(m): 9:01pm On Jan 21, 2025 |
FreedomfromtheT: Nigerian born British politician who aims at being the next British Prime minister has been in the news of late. She has been vocal and unapologetic about her disdain for the politics and governance of Nigeria her country of birth. Expectedly, a lot of Nigerians, the political class, members of the ruling party and their supporters have been antagonizing her. Kemi Badenock happens to be Yoruba by ethnicity and she affirmed so prefering to be called a Yoruba than a Nigerian. One thing worthy of note is that those criticizing her stand are doing so based on her individual personal opinion. Hardly have I read people castigating her ethnicity or linking her anger toward Nigeria to the fact that she is from a particular ethnic group who are not happy that the president of Nigeria is a Yoruba. Kemi is not being tagged an Ipob or Obidient who is angry because her brother 'lost' an election to the incumbent for constantly disparaging Nigeria. Her fellow Yorubas are not meant to suffer for her personal negative opinions about Nigeria. There is no Yorubaphobia. The Yoruba born British politician is not being told that because of her, no member of her ethnic group especially the person most of her tribesmen currently support would be allowed to become Nigeria's president. Let's tell ourselves the truth. If Mrs Kemi Badenock were an Igbo, how do you think the APC's propaganda machinery especially the Batists in particular would respond to her? |

They pay you 40k per month and you dey complain 😂 Moniker947: Mods, I'm sorry to post this here. I did this because I really need all the input I can get now.
I work as a teacher in a private sch in Nassarawa State. Though Some refer to this place as Abuja. Being teaching here for almost three years. By God's grace, I have taught in 6 different schools in the last 8years in four different states of the country, so I believe I possess the requisite skills to thrive on the job. I have a degree in Mathematics/computer. It is my passion for Teaching that has made me a teacher and kept me going for these number of years. If there's one thing I am gifted in, it is impacting knowledge. I do this with ease. At the moment, I'm completely fed up with the mistreatment of myself and colleagues. Imagine giving your Best and still getting scolded all the time. Parents dictate for the sch. Parents decide the particular class their children should be in. No teacher has an input in the administration of the school. Whenever you get a call from the sch owners, know you're being called to be faulted. The school is managed by the director and his wife. The wife spends more time in the sch and does most of the administrative tasks, she has some sacred staff which are very close to her. These particular staff are never wrong in whatever wrong they do, while the others are always wrong in whatever they do. I hope someone can relate to the point I'm driving at?. I've being patient in the last three years, and now I feel it's time to call it quits. I have given my best and won Best teacher award for the year in my first year of working here. I'm always available whenever I am called upon. On Sundays and Saturdays, they call me to do some tasks, I make myself available. I anchor every public programme the sch holds like End of the year Parties, PTA meetings and other social activities. We are over 35 teaching staff here and even as a maths teacher, I handle all these, but in the end, I get more sticks than praises. It's really tiring and discouraging. Best Teacher's award stopped the last time I won. So whatever good u do here, there's no Encouragement from your employers. It's complaint all the time. Pls I need someone to connect me to a better school. Our renumeration here is also another sad story. I'm being paid 40k, my transportation is #600 per day. My rent and other needs are there to meet from this paltry salary. The workload here is heavy, much heavier than u can imagine. I can't comfortably feed from this salary, in a months time, my rent will be due. Extra lessons here don't pay much because of the environment. Imagine a parent telling u to teach his child thrice in a week for 3k in a whole month. It's sad. You're working like an elephant and eating like an ant. |
