Elegy Of A Drunkard.

At first I had friends
Then I lost them for the bottles
I just seemed to loose interest,
In unpredictable humans
For the glassware community
* * *

I loved the way the beer bottles
Arranged themselves in crates
They, so organised, polite and content,
Lacked the strife of competing humans.
Above all I loved their content;
That liquid that turned into bubbles
When its glass container was disturbed
'Alcohol' it was called
A liquid opium that tossed anyone
To and fro when it becomes the new occupant
Of their human container
* * *

I had several of such rendezvous
At such states
The soft winds was like the waves of the sea
And I was blown to its control.
Like a rollercoaster ride
It would lead me before a speeding van and
Whisk me away by a hairsbreadth
Just at the second before my death ... !
Yet, it was 'fun'.
* * *

I would chyke some girls
With my shirt stained with puke
Of course they all dissed me
I would never mind, I was already in cloud nine.
* * *

Until the day it happened to me... .
* * *

I was led, as usual, in confused steps
Before an oncoming truck in blazing speed
On the express way
I waited for the alcohol angel whisk me away ... !
But I met with my death
* * *
I wouldn't say had I known
Because I knew.
What I will tell you;
"Better to share your worries with Jesus
Than with bottles of alcohol."

My Friend
My Brother
My Twin
Disturb me not
For you are gone
A 'faithfully departed'... .
You are dust
Treading the dusk
Of evening skies
Leading to eternity,
As the falcons
Plying the path
That lead south
Accompany you,
And say adieu.
