If Batshuayi was Nigerian with his travails at Chelsea, some people would have tagged him "wasteman" "unproven", 2goals in three seasons striker etc etc.

My point is... Sometimes, a lot of things can contribute to a player not making match day squads in a foreign country, it's not always down to quality or lack of it.
It might be as simple as the manager just not liking the way the club's jersey looks on you! (Guardiola comes to mind)
The support of the national team can go a long way in giving some confidence, especially for players who had once been main stays in the team.
