If I were Buhari, I would probe Jonathan. Jonathan deserves facing the wrath of the law for the hardship he caused Nigerians. President 'Badluck' should be arraigned in court for the evil transformation he caused in Nigeria. He made us have a tip of Abacha's period thereby leaving the 'decaying' government to Buhari's hand. He rubbished the gianT of Africa by making her citizen suffer for what belongs to them... He has been there since 2010, promising transformation but unfortunately his administration has brought increase in corruption and problems in Nigeria as a nation. The 'Hero' of democracy as rubbished the 'giant' Nigeria by causing her citizens to live in hardship in few days to hand over. President Goodluck Jonathan has made Nigerians get the tip of Abacha's period in Nigeria. But to say, Abacha's period is better! This is a modern world and a democratic one for that matter and an insensitive administration could manipulate the people and cause us to be in hardship. A lot of businesses have closed down, including schools because the corrupt administration couldnt profound a solution to the problem. The cabinet of the leader is corrupted and endowed with stupidity. We hope to see change in Nigeria, a lot of Nigerians can't wait to see may 29 turning in. We wish 'General' good stay in office with extra-ordinary achievements. God Bless Nigeria #OneNigeria SOURCE: m.news24.com/Nigeria/MyNews24/If-I-were-Buhari-I-would-probe-Jonathan-20150603 |

Chief Taiwo Abayomi Kuye is the Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Lagos, in this interview, he spoke on the loss of the election in the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC) saying his party contested against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agents and not APC. Excerpts: Why the party is heading for the tribunal? We came to INEC to complain about irregularities and up till now, INEC cannot give us a definite answer. The other day I said it, that part of their game plan were the irregularities that characterized the governorship elections. In preparation for the election, there was a meeting between all the local government electoral officers and other chieftains of the party, where they planned in favor of APC. We discovered this in about 11 local governments, whereas in the governorship, we busted it in about 14 Local Governments. PDP stronghold in Lagos? The PDP stronghold in Lagos is more than 13, 14 local governments to be precise. There are Igbos in Lagos: Epe, Ajeromi, Agege; there is no part of Lagos you won’t find them. The same pattern of rigging was used by the APC. The five local government areas that were left out were areas they cannot change the figures because they were really dealt with. But in areas like Mushin, Kosofe where they were defeated with 5,000, they just went to INEC booths and added figures, unlike in Ajeromi and others where they lost with 20,000 votes. There they cannot do anything cynical. I stand to tell you that our stronghold cut across more than 14 local governments in Lagos, and we have won that election. That is why on the part of APC there was no celebration. Why then did PDP candidate congratulate Ambode, if he didn’t accept the outcome? Congratulations does not stop anything, it only shows that Jimi Agbaje is a statesman by doing so. Is PDP not crying over spilled milk? We have not lost, go to all nooks and crannies of Lagos, everyone will tell you that they voted Jimi Agbaje. All these and more are the true facts that we are presenting to the tribunal. Is there still unity within PDP with current happenings in the party? We are united. Obanikoro is a leader here, Bode George is also the party’s leader in Lagos and south west, so we are going nowhere. Anyone who jumps ship because APC is now at the center, such a person is making a fool of himself or herself. Anyone who makes such a stupid mistake would have himself or herself to blame in the nearest future. Likewise, I stand to be the last person to remain in PDP, even till tomorrow. So, how was Lagos State won and lost again? Lagos State belongs to us, everyone saw it, and all classes of people saw that Jimi Agbaje was voted as the governor. But it was a battle between PDP, INEC, the security agencies in Lagos and not APC. When are you going to the tribunal? We have 21 days after the election. It is a 3-member tribunal and I have the list of members. We will file our papers before the deadline expires. Future of PDP in Lagos? Our landslide victory in the council elections sent a signal to APC, we won more than 12, 13 local government chairmanship, and more than 180 councillorship. But their leader said: ‘go and give them 18 councillorship, they cannot preside over anything in Lagos’. All these will come to an end when we come back from the tribunal. |
Former governor of Kwara state and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Bukola Saraki, has said that he never collected any money from the Minister of Petroleum, Ms Deizani Allison Madueke to fund the campaign of the president-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buahri (retd). Bamikole Omishore, the Special Assistant on Media and Advocacy to Sen. Saraki made this known in a post on the social media following allegation that Deizani Maduekwe funded the campaign of Buhari through Saraki. Read his reaction below: The attention of Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki’s media office has been drawn to an online article alleging that the controversial Minister of Petroleum. Ms Deiziani Allison Madueke who has been engulfed in series of questionable transactions made contribution to the All Progressives Congress through Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki. This office usually will ignore such reports as we find it completely laughable, baseless and lacking any iota of truth. However, for the avoidance of any doubt and to keep with the renewed mandate of accountability and transparency, we find it necessary to assure the teaming Supporters of APC and Senator Saraki that at no time did Senator Bukola Saraki meet, discuss or had any dealings in any form or nature with Ms Deiziani or her agents. Senator Saraki hereby challenges either the Minister, her agent, associates or any other person that might have any evidence or information contrary to the above to share same with Nigerians. The last time Senator Saraki met with Ms Deiziani was in year 2012 when the Minister, her mother and her sister visited the Sarakis’ on a condolence visit over the death of Dr. Olusola Saraki, the father of Senator Saraki. The alleged publication is total falsehood and completely mischievous therefore, this story can not fly or sell, rather, the promoter should find something else to cling on as they remain with a drowning party. The credit of the success of General Buhari, and our dear party APC across the country can only be claimed by Nigerians in every nook and cranny of the federation who sacrificed their resources, time and energy to bring about the change this country deserves and that should not be tainted by any individual or group of people who stood as stumbling block to every step taken towards achieving this noble and worthy struggle. Signed, Bamikole Omishore SA Media and Advocacy. |
Nigerian coaches have declared their support for Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi who recently signed a fresh 2-year contract with the Nigeria Football Federation. Speaking from his base in Calabar, national Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Football Coaches Association, Etta Egbe said, “Nigerian coaches will give Keshi our total support to succeed. We want to congratulate both Keshi and the Nigeria Football Federation in particular for re-signing Keshi because the pressure was too much. “We know that if it were based on public opinion, Keshi would not have been given the job. So, we thank the NFF for believing in the Nigerian coach,” Egbe said. Egbe said Keshi must encourage younger players into the Super Eagles squad. “He is lucky because he won’t have any problems getting the right players. Manu Garba and Samson Siasia have enormous talents in the U-20 and U-23 squads. Keshi can benefit a lot from these teams. But he has to complement the skills of the youthful players with experience.” |
Jalingo - The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the just-concluded governorship election in Taraba, Sen. Aisha Alhassan, has rejected the results of the poll as announced by INEC on Sunday. Addresing a press conference in Jalingo shortly after the announcement of the results, Alhassan described the entire elections process as a "daylight robbery" and said the party would challenge the results in the elections petitions tribunal. "The combined governorship elections in Taraba were characterised by violence, massive rigging, ballot snatching and abuse of the card readers in substantial parts of the state by the PDP and their allies," she said. She contended that results ascribed to Wukari, Donga, Takum, Sardauna, Zing, Yorro, Kurmi and some parts of Ussa, Karim-Lamido, Bali, Ardo-Kola and Lau local government areas were not acceptable as they did not reflect the true results of the election in Taraba. Alhassan said all the complaints on the irregularities and abuse of the election guidelines were promptly reported to INEC, but that no action was taken. NAN reports that the INEC Returning Officer for Taraba Prof. Kyari Mohammed, who declared the results on Sunday in Jalingo, said Ishaku scored 369,318 votes to emerge victorious. He said Sen. Aisha Alhassan came second with 275,984 votes, while Chief David Kente of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), polled 29, 966 votes - NAN |
London - Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers described his side as "outstanding" despite a goalless draw away to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday which dents their hopes of a top-four Premier League finish. "I thought the players were outstanding, their courage and play on the ball. Across the team there were some outstanding performances," Rodgers told the BBC. There were few goalscoring chances in a match that only came alive in the second half, with Jordon Ibe hitting the post for Liverpool and James Morrison seeing a header cleared off the line for the hosts. Liverpool's season now looks to be heading towards a disappointing conclusion with defeat to Aston Villa in the semi-final of the FA Cup last weekend at Wembley ending their hopes of winning silverware this season. The FA Cup defeat ensured Rodgers became the first Liverpool manager since the 1950s not to win a trophy in his first three seasons in charge. Three points at the Hawthorns -- on Steven Gerrard's 500th league appearance for the club -- would certainly have boosted hopes of a top- four finish. Rodgers's side are fifth, six points behind Manchester City, with Manuel Pellegrini's team hosting Aston Villa in Saturday's evening kickoff. The Reds do have a midweek game in hand at relegation threatened Hull City, and Rodgers has insisted he has not given up hope of reaching the Champions League spots. The Northern Irishman, however, said it will be "very difficult" to make the top four at the season's close. "I felt that of the six games we needed to win five at least. We have now got five to go and we'll have to look to win them to give ourselves a chance," he told reporters. "You never know what happens above you, that's the thing with football -- you just never know. But what you have to do is make sure that you keep the pressure on. "We have to rely on other teams, but we can only do our job and that is still the plan." - Reuters |
