In an apparent bid to address the high rate of unemployment in the country, President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians youths to lay their hands on manufacturing weapons instead of staying idle. The incumbent President made this statement today while campaigning in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital. “Why can’t we manufacture weapons? Those who manufacture these things are not angels. They are human beings like us,” Jonathan said while promising the cheery crowd that his government is determined to train Nigerian in the areas of Science and Technology. Jonathan, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in next month’s presidential polls, also stated that: “We want to train Nigerians that will change this country in terms of science and tech. We’ve already started”. While urging the electorates to re-elect him for another four years, the incumbent President stated that the “PDP is the only party that has shown commitment to develop the Nigerian youths”. In his own words: “Our priority is to build schools not prisons. This is the only administration that is ready to give any position, including the one I’m asking for, to the women.” President Jonathan also stated that one of his dreams is to witness a situation whereby a Nigerian woman would become the president of the country. He said: “I would want to see a female President in my lifetime”. Below are all the comments of Mr President as tweeted by his Special Adviser on New Media, Reno Omokri. http://www.diamondreport.com.ng/2015/01/jonathan-urges-nigerian-youths-to.html If na so, money don land oo ![]() |
The presidential candidate on the platform of the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) greeted Nigerians with coming 2015 New Year. It should be noted that General Buhari is key opponent of incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 general elections. Read his message in full below: “As we welcome the year 2015, I have shared a message to Nigerians in general, but I find it crucial to send another message directly to Nigeria’s youth, who are the major stakeholders of this enterprise. The year 2014 was a challenging one for most citizens of our dear country. We remember our compatriots who were brutishly killed or maimed by evil terrorists in 2014. I remember with a still broken heart that 219 of our children from Chibok are yet missing, let down by a country that should protect them. I remember that, even as I speak, some of our towns and villages are yet under the occupation of Boko Haram. Yes, it is enough for you to despair. It is enough for you to wonder if your country cares about you and can protect you. But do not despair. 2015 has arrived at a time of great discomfort; but the beauty of the New Year is that we can look forward with renewed hope and the knowledge that things can and will change. In Nigeria’s case, we can truly look forward to the change that the elections can, and will, bring. Our country will be secure again. Our country will prosper again. I have faith that 2015 is the year we shall begin to write a new story – a story of our youth creating jobs and expanding the frontiers of innovation and creativity everywhere from Mavin Records to the Co-Creation Hub; a story of genuine investment in our children and students be they in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka or in the Delta State University, Abraka; a country that finally makes a permanent shift from our debilitating dependence on the free-falling price of crude oil. I have unshakeable faith that 2015 will be the year of change. Now some of you have asked me: what exactly does ‘change’ mean? I have taken time to explain this at different opportunities, but on this special day, let me remind you in five short statements. Change means: A country that you can be proud of at anytime and anywhere: where corruption is punished, where your leaders are disciplined and lead with vision and clarity; where the stories that emerge to the world from us are full of hope and progress. A Nigeria in which neither yourselves, nor your parents, families or friends will have to fear for your safety, or for theirs. A Nigeria where citizens get the basics that any country should provide: infrastructure that works, healthcare that is affordable, even free; respect for the environment and sustainable development, education that is competitive and outcome-oriented in a knowledge-economy. A country that provides jobs for its young people, reducing unemployment to the lowest of single digits and providing safety nets so that no one is left behind. A Nigeria where entrepreneurship thrives, enterprise flourishes and the government gets out of your way so that you can create value, build the economy and aggressively expand wealth. Are these things truly possible? Of course. That is the essence and outcome of leadership, and that is what my party and I promise you as we get into 2015. My dear friends, this New Year, more than ever before, I am hopeful about Nigeria. Yes, you are disappointed and you are angry, as you are entitled to, but you must never give in to the temptation to feel so weighed down by those who have failed you that you lose your hope and your energy and your passion to see change. You must never give up on Nigeria. Together, we can build a nation that is secure, prosperous and gives everyone a fair chance. This is the promise that 2015 holds. That is the promise that change will bring. That is the promise that I bring to you. Once again, I wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year. HIP HIP HIP Hurray. After touring all the countries in Africa with our aim of profiling the four biggest UKWU’s (N.B while referring to this kind of ukwu’s (Hips) you have to use CAPITAL letters. I don’t need to tell you why) in the continent. I must confess to you, this research is very technical and comes with its own hazard. Along the line, we had profiled some ferocious and boisterous (No vex, I just discovered the meaning and I just have to use it even if it does not fit) UKWU only to find out they were either filled with saw dust or injected with palm oil. See them below this post. We had to use our enhanced and updated UKWU detector and below is our top four. 1. Maltida Hipsy Who else is not the no. 1 but here? I'm sure her 'ukwu' is filled with agege bread lol ![]() 2. Lily Corazon While we were still drooling over Maltida, we stumbled on Corazon. She has been on everyone’s lips after her photos went viral on social media. Corazon Kwamboka is the newest Kenyan socialite in town heavily endowed and does not shy to make suggestive poses. She is a lawyer, having graduated last year from the University of Nairobi. If I ever got into trouble, she will be my Lawyer. 3. Peace Hyde Next on our list is Peace Hyde, an example of hotties that are categorised as FULL OPTION, 4 X 4 or Four Wheel Drive. Do I need to tell you why?. Peace Hyde started acting at the age of 11 but made her real debut in Ghana some few years ago on the hit TV series Adam’s Apple’s. She already has two MNET movies under her belt, namely Protégé and the Prodigal Son with regular guest appearances on the GH ONE talk show ‘Tales From the Powder Room’ holding her own opposite host Naa Ashorkor. She is also the host of Black Avenue Work’s first ever entertainment show. 4. Tolu Toolz Oniru. We cannot end this list without profiling the one and only Toolz, UKWU 01 of Naija. Toolz was quoted in an interview back in 2012; My body is very womanly. My mom has this figure so I got it from her. I work out and tend to lose weight on my upper body. I have always had killer hips and when I was growing up, I did my best to hide them. Back then, the vogue was to be slim with no curves. When I was in the UK, and everyone was going skimpy during summer, I would hide my curves in baggy T-shirts’, she said. Meaning she was born with it. And here you have it, The Four UKWU benders in Africa. Which one of them is the winner? and did we miss anything? Please let us know in your comments. Parenting is the most challenging and at the same time the most rewarding thing an adult can ever have. Here are the five common bad phrases that most of us heard in the childhood. And as sad as it can be, we have repeated them to our own kids: 1. “I said so” A lot of parents have said this at least once. Usually it refers to a teen’s or a child’s request to do something that parents disagree with. This answer is illogical. The phrase itself is domineering and can reinforce the weakness of the child. A teen or a child would think that their opinion never matters. 2. “Do as I told you” It is another popular phrase you should never bark at your kid. It shows your hypocrisy and dominating – you probably forbid your kid some things you do yourself. And hypocrisy kills all the trust between you and your child. Of course there are so many things parents don’t want their kids to do: smoking, drinking alcohol etc., but this phrase is used on a wider range of issues. 3. “Be normal” This phrase can kill the creativity of your kid as well as his or her ability to solve the problems. You should better teach your children to see beyond the barriers and think outside the box. 4. “It is like I speak to a brick wall” Whenever you said such things, your child could misinterpret them alleging that you considered him/her dumb. Kids are sensitive and such kind of phrases can hurt them a lot. 5. “Stop crying or I’ll give you a reason to cry” It seems to be the worst thing to say to a kid. This phrase is aggressive and threatening. These words mislead your kid to believe that his or her feelings and emotions don’t matter. There are all kinds of situations that happen from time to time, but even if you think your kid is out of control – try to solve the problem without screams and violence. So, keep your child happy and stop CHILD ABUSE ![]() SOURCE: http://www.diamondreport.com.ng/2014/12/five-words-you-should-never-say-to-your.html |
