Hello People,

I got into the state on sunday. saw alot of preg mum at the lag airport but i was the only one eon my flight. i flew Delta and was the only one on my flight. My POE was Atlanta and had a smooth and stress-less experience. On getting to the airport, i went straight to the bathroom to freshen up.
Then back to the waiting line. A white officer attended to me. No document was asked both in nigeria and atlanta (no one checked my fit to fly in Nigeria) and below is our conversation

Officer: Good morning
Me: morning how are you
Officer: very well . thank you
Officer: why are you in the USA
Me: Vacation and to have my baby
Officer: where in the US are you going to stay and who are you staying with
Me:Florida and i am staying with my uncle.
Officer: how much do you have
Me: **** dollars and the naira equivalent (less than 10k)
Officer: i can see you got your visa **** month.
Me : yes
Officer: were you pregnant during your visa interview
Me: yes i was few months gone
Officer: so why did you not declare
Me: i was not asked specifically if i was preg
Officer: and you also said you do not plan giving birth in the US
Me: the question as was if we plan to have our baby in the US soon and we( i went with my husband and child) said no because we had not decided if we were going to do so or not as we had not contacted any hospital or doctors office
we do not know if its something we can afford or not..
Officer: step back abit behind the red line ( he picked the fone to made a call)
Me: i did and i was just saying to God to perfect what he had started.
Officer: he called me back and stamped my passport and told me always to say the truth bla bla bla they r not against pple coming in to give birth and i shoiuld make sure i do not use any medical insurance and keep my receipts.
He handed my passport to me and siad i should enjoy my stay.

On my way out, a lady asked to see my immigration card( not sure exactly what the card is called), she took me into the secondary inspection office. i waited for less than 5min.
An officer called me asked me the same questions and he was shocked when i said i am there to give birth.
he stepped back and accessed me again and asked me if i was truly pregnant.
they asked for the type of food item i had and i told them.
one of the officers took my passport in to an inner office and when he got back he said to me i can go that i have a good record.

please ignore my typo errors... this is really a long post

Lastly: please if you are given any medication at the doctors office. CHECK THE EXPIRY DATE BIKOOOOOOOOOOO
Wishing everyone a successful interview and smooth POE experience

Tvegas: Now that my Ogas at the top have given their view. I get one more gangster advice that may work for you. Look for a coded POE and flight Connection to use for your entry, i mean a POE that has tough flight connections back to Nigeria. I mean a POE that hardly receive large swathe of Nigerian travellers and pregnant mamas e.g. Florida,Las Vegas,Indianna. A lot of pregnant Nigerians still dont know why Houston is such a nasty POE. Its simply because United has a direct flight to Naija thus it makes deportation an easy decision for an average Houston Border Officer. Trust me if Houston was Alaska the deportation rate cant be this much. Secondly, Houston hosts a large Nigerian Community and some of those Officers have seen us "Finish" so nothing fazes them about Nigerians. For example, if you get to Orlando,Florida you can tell the CBP that you came to Disney for vacation and you will be birthing thereafter. Above all pray to God for mercy and favor.

Thanks a lot people.. I am actually going to Tampa... let me keep hoping for the best.

Tvegas: You've not answered this question, if you werent pregnant during the interview simply send the consulate a mail stating the change of purpose,a lot of mamas have done that on this thread and had their record updated. However, if you told an outright lie then you will be taking an obvious risk i.e DEPORTATION ,i hardly ever have any suggestion in such situations because even if you scale through the POE subsequent renewal may be difficult If your current visa is not the 2 years multiple that qualifies you for dropbox. Taking your daughter doesn't affect anything. Think well about your decision may God guide you.

sorry i did not know i omitted the question..yes I was pregnant.. we were asked if we have the plan of giving birth in the state this year answer was no. we wanted to go on vacation before we had a rethink of having a baby there but my EDD is next year but will have to travel this year
i have 2 years visa

JustDiapers:

What If they ask me at the immigration why am in the US
What is the best response...Quite tricky!however,i think you should read the entire thread to get different feelers and then make your decision.there is no one right answer to your question
Do I go with my 18 month old child to avoid any suspicion....if your 18 month old is a US citizen, that will bring and not avoid suspicion
Do I make some hospital payment before I go or I hold some cash?
..Hold cash..paying hospital makes no difference to homeland security

thanks for your response... my dear I have gone through the trend did not get something similar.

no my child is not a USA citizen.

I am planning to travel to the US sometime this year. I will be about 33wks then.
I have my visa( which was given to myself and my family)but in the process of interview we were asked if we have a plan of giving birth in the state but we said no.

here are my concerns:

What If they ask me at the immigration why am in the US.
What is the best response.
Do I go with my 18 month old child to avoid any suspicion
Do I make some hospital payment before I go or I hold some cash?

I kindly await your response
