Right now in June 2026, the retail price of cooking gas (LPG) across Nigeria is highly volatile, but there is a major gap between the landing cost of imported gas and what retail plants are charging you.
If you want the absolute lowest rates right now, here is exactly where to look and how the prices stack up.

1. Major Depot-Aligned Gas Plants (The Absolute Cheapest)
Your cheapest option is to skip the small neighborhood retail "cage" shops and go directly to independent major gas plants or mega-stations (like NNPC retail, TotalEnergies, or Rainoil) that buy directly from coastal depots.
Why? In early June 2026, the landing cost of imported cooking gas crashed significantly to around N950,000 per metric tonne. This puts the expected fair retail benchmark right around N925 to N1,000 per kg.
The large independent plants that just took delivery of these new imported cargoes are selling closest to this baseline—averaging between N1,500 and N1,700 per kg.

2. What to Avoid (The Most Expensive)
Neighborhood Retailers: Small local vendors are still trying to exhaust their older, expensive stock from the mid-May price spike. They are currently selling gas for as high as N2,000 to N2,400 per kg. Refilling a 12.5kg cylinder here will easily cost you N25,000 or more.
