This is one thing with Japa. If you hesitate, even if you later become successful with the Japa, you might not find it as easy to settle as previous entrants and Nigeria is completely finished at the moment now.

If it's other kind of visa then coming unprepared is not an issue but student visa in UK now.. Don't play if u don't have ur fees. UK universities are now like our loan shark companies in Nigeria that don't give u peace again

If I had other options to come UK other than this study route I would have explored it. This study route na just pressure and lack of peace of mind he dey give me here. But we go dey alright last las.

I believe people just want those that are coming to know the reality here, however everybody won't have the same experience, that's just life. People say getting corporate jobs is impossible as a student but I can bet there would be students that still get that and work 20 hours in an office setting.

Anyone coming also, please if you work in a tech friendly company you can also try and talk to your manager to retain your job and work remotely. I know guys who did this and still get paid in their workplace in Nigeria no matter how small.

Also, an easy way to get a free DBS/some work experience is to join a volunteer organization in care. NHS usually has such volunteer positions.

Well that corporate or office job you talk about is a capital NO for student in my city. I have tried them and whenever they call or email and they discover I am a student what they usually tell me is I should apply again when I am done with school. One still called me last month after applying the first question was the type of visa I hold I told her tier 4 immediately she replied "student visa?" I said "yes" she said she is sorry that they don't employ students and I can apply again when I am done with school. I don't know other parts of UK o before they say I am discouraging people. I don't give advice I am only here for solution to my own problem, connect and take advice from people who know the way.

It’s different for everyone. We all should just do proper research, plan well, PRAY REALLY HARD and make the decision to go or to stay.

No one is discouraging anyone here. If you understood the guy you quoted well you should have deduced from his post that his uncle already paid almost all of his tuition and you don't even know if he is living with his uncle which means he has no problem with feeding and accommodation which will make things easier for him.

Ask yourself this question do you have 90% or full tuition? Do you have enough money to pay for 6 months rent when you land here cause the work migrants use to start life like care work, warehouse, factory are now scarce value. Let alone the 20hrs limit on your BRP. 20hrs work can't foot all your bills with humongous school balance. Do you have uncle or aunty that will come to your rescue if things don't go as planned?

People here sounding alarm are doing it out of love. Even me that I have most of my tuition fee sorted out I am still depressed cause this is my 4th month in the UK as a student without job my sneakers are about to tear. Good luck.

Ok. My input is one.

Go to indeed and type in care on search bar. Reduce the location from 25miles to 15miles and refund your search. The will bring out about 1000+ jobs as I have done it from here.

Go to company filter button and click the drop down. This will show companies hiring around Leicester. I saw about 20. Copy the company name one by one and search for their number using Google. Call them on their line and tell them you are looking for care job.

Do you have experience yes
Do you need visa sponsorship no
Do you have DBS - yes (I assume you have it by now)
Have you completed your care training - yes ( I also assume you do have mandatory cert).

Don't bother applying for the jobs, just get the company's number using this method and call them directly. Any further clarification, let me know.

I don't have a DBS I heard most employers do paid DBS here and some would deduct it from your first pay too. Though an agency wanted to do it for me sometime at a paid rate but they told me I might not get it on time that really made me back off. And what mandatory training do I need again? I think after you have been employed the Care Home would do training and award certificate? Please elaborate. I have done a mental health training online and I have the certificate.

Like I said earlier, one's best bet is those care agencies (they do give shift....although, it might not be everytime).

Since u've tried that route already, I feel u can talk with ur fellow church member, fellow department mate (they might give u the link to d job wey them dey do)

Although, e sure me die u've done that already.

At this point, all I can say is best of luck.



Although, in the next couple of months, some job opportunities like royal mail, Amazon, etc will be out....the question is how do u cope before then.

It's a recruitment agency and they give students work (warehouse).

I have discussed with my church members they gave me numbers and after calling they told me they didn't have vacancy. I'll try the first call when I get home. Just left Accept Recruitment Agency now they couldn't give me the job that was on ground because I have no car the job location is in Nuneaton. This car na wahala jare.

I have applied to many care agencies. I have gone to many to obtain forms some said they don't have vacancies. Some said I should go to their website to apply in the end it is either "unfortunately" "we regret to tell you" blah blah some won't even bother replying. I have different CV wey I don do. As I dey apply for care I dey apply to cleaning, warehouse, factory. No be small work I dey do on top this job search

I went for an interview recently outside of my my location it's 1hr 57mins by bus and I have to be reporting 7am in the morning which I can't make. He asked if I have a car I said no. I told him I would relocate but he wasn't pleased with that. This is the second time I am experiencing that. This car is another thing for securing job in this country.

Get this into your skull.. If u don't have full fees u are doing the impossible. Unless you have people to that will help you clear the fees

Last week I had the opportunity to talk to 3 new set that came this January 2024.. Sunderland University av already locked their portal and they are threatened to de list them while the other from another uni said home office has already contacted her n she paid only 3500 pounds from Nigeria . I was like why did u come when no dependant?

I am still owing my school 2900 balance I never get job since February wey I land for this UK. I don apply tire na "unfortunately" I dey get. I don trek visit many agencies all to no avail. You can apply but make sure you have 90% tuition fee and at least 3 months rent on arrival cause the chances of getting job upon arrival as a student are slim. Jobs that migrant used to pick up their life upon arrival are scarce now. And remember as a student your working hours are limited to 20hrs/week which is not enough. Shalom.

Me no dey advice people o. I was like that too last year I'll be telling people come back if you know it is not favourable until I enter UK and I was shocked to see what some Nigerian students are passing through and I joined them. I have been depressed since February. I never get any job till now and University dey disturb me and threatening to lock portal. Bills don pile up.

Fullclub opened a thread last year that made FP I was about processing mine then but you know this Nigerian mentality of "my case will be different" that was my own believe until I landed and see for myself. I have regrets, i am depressed and at times I say some prayers and get strengthened within but the reality here is shocking and depressing. If you advice people they'll think you don't want them to come.

I am in the same shoe with them just that my university hasn't thrown me out but they have sent warning once and gave me duration of time to balance up.
