UPDATE: MORE PAGES INDEXED

After manually submitting more articles to Google's index a few days ago, I decided this morning to check if that had yielded any results. And alas! The number of indexed pages has gone up from 20 to 40! And that's despite that I'm left with over 10 articles not yet submitted.

I can only sit back and watch how this will impact the site's traffic in the coming few weeks.
How did you index it manually?

PoliticsPDP And Labour Party React As US Secretary Of State Calls Tinubu by Primeblog(op): 7:58am On May 18, 2023
The Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party voiced outrage on Wednesday over a phone call between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President-elect Bola Tinubu.

During a 20-minute phone discussion with Tinubu, who is in France, Blinken guaranteed better connections between the United States and Nigeria.

Blinken spoke with the president-elect on Tuesday, according to US Department of State spokeswoman Matthew Miller.

The development came just 24 hours after the Joe Biden administration placed visa restrictions on Nigerians accused of disrupting the just finished elections.

The US said the affected persons were involved in voter threats, results manipulation, physical violence, and other activities that undermined democracy. The identities of the culprits were, however, not made public.

But dismayed by Blinken’s communication with Tinubu, the PDP standard bearer, Atiku Abubakar, who is challenging the ex-Lagos State governor’s victory at the tribunal, said the Secretary of State’s assurances of bilateral cooperation contradicted the position of the US on the general election in Nigeria.

The former vice president was referring to a statement issued by the US government on March 2 in which it acknowledged the complaints and frustrations expressed by some Nigerians about the manner in which the presidential election was conducted and the shortcomings of the technical elements used in the poll.

Also, the Chief Spokesman for Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Yunusa Tanko, said it was worrisome for Blinken to be discussing bilateral relations with Tinubu.

During the phone conversation, Blinken said he was committed to further strengthening the US-Nigeria partnership with the incoming administration of the president-elect.

Miller said the two leaders “discussed the importance of inclusive leadership that represents all Nigerians, continued comprehensive security cooperation, and reforms to support economic growth.”

The statement read, “Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke this morning with Nigerian President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emphasise his continued commitment to further strengthening the U.S.-Nigeria relationship with the incoming administration.

“The Secretary noted that the U.S.-Nigeria partnership is built on shared interests and strong people-to-people ties and that those links should continue to strengthen under President-elect Tinubu’s tenure.

‘’Secretary Blinken and President-elect Tinubu discussed the importance of inclusive leadership that represents all Nigerians, continued comprehensive security cooperation, and reforms to support economic growth.”

Also, a statement from the Office of the President-elect, signed by Tunde Rahman, said Tinubu told Blinken that he would hit the ground running and unify the country on his assumption of office on May 29.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has expressed regret for convening a forum that advocated for Aminu Tambuwal's election as Speaker of the House in the 7th National Assembly.

Tambuwal is the outgoing Governor of Sokoto State.

"I regret it," Gbajabiamila said, recalling earlier attempts by speakership contenders to challenge their respective parties' chosen nominees.

The Speaker addressed during a meeting of the Joint Task - 10th Assembly, a coalition of members-elect of the All Progressives Congress and opposition parties in the upcoming 10th National Assembly, in Abuja on Wednesday night.

Before Gbajabiamila spoke, the APC candidate for Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, escorted the Speaker into the venue, made a brief statement, and then left.

CrimeKidnappers Abduct Oyo Farmer, Demand N30m Ransom by Primeblog(op): 7:45am On May 17, 2023
The family of a cattle dealer, Olushola Ayanshola, has been thrown into confusion after kidnappers, who abducted him along Otu-Alaga Road, in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State demanded N30m for his release.

It was gathered that Ayanshola was returning from his farm around Alaga Road, close to Radio Station, Otu town, on Sunday evening when two gun-wielding kidnappers, intercepted his motorcycle and shot sporadically into the air to scare motorists and passersby.

Thereafter, the farmer was whisked away into the bush and efforts by his family members and security agents to locate his whereabouts proved abortive.

Speaking with our correspondent, Ayanshola’s son, Olawale, said the kidnappers contacted the family on Monday to demand N30m ransom, adding that his father pleaded with him and his elder brother, Emmanuel, to find a way to raise the money because the abductors tied him down at a location in the bush.

Olawale said, “The incident happened around 6pm on Sunday. My father visited his farm to supervise the labourers working on the farm and to settle them. After he was done at the farm located at Alaga, close to Radio Station, Otu town, he was returning home around 6pm when two armed kidnappers came out of the bush and ambushed him.

“We were told that my father left the motorcycle on the road and was making an attempt to run into the bush like other people at the scene of the attack when the kidnappers started shooting.

“Because my father was the target, they stopped him and whisked him away into the bush. Those that escaped said they were hiding in the bush when they heard gunshots and that it was when they no longer heard gunshots that they came out of hiding.”

Olawale said the people who escaped the attack said they were expecting his father to also come out of hiding but when he was nowhere to be found, they raised the alarm that he had been kidnapped.

He noted that the kidnappers abandoned Ayanshola’s motorcycle at the scene of the attack, adding that the suspects had been adamant about collecting N30m ransom before releasing his father.

He added, “When I was informed about the attack, we started calling my father’s phone number but it was switched off. But on Monday morning, we got a call from a number which our father used in explaining that he was kidnapped and had been tied down in the bush.

“He said the kidnappers gave him a phone to contact us to raise the N30m ransom they demanded. He said it was N50m they initially demanded and that when he pleaded, they reduced it to N30m.

“When the kidnappers spoke with my elder brother, Emmanuel, he pleaded with them that the money was too much and they said we should provide it if we want our father alive.

“I also called the number that they used in contacting my elder brother and heard my father crying for help. He pleaded that we should not let the kidnappers kill him as they are making him suffer in the bush.”

Olawale said his father urged them to sell his property to raise the money but he told him there was nothing to sell to raise N30m as all his property was not worth N2m.

He said, “As he was crying, I was also crying till the kidnappers collected the phone and hung up. When I tried speaking with one of the kidnappers, he did not understand Yoruba and English but Hausa.

“We reported the matter at the Otu Police Station; his motorcycle is also there. We have sold two cows to raise N500,000. The Amotekun Corps heard of the kidnap and its men have been combing the bush but could not find them.

“We were surprised when the kidnappers called to inform us that they are aware that hunters and the Amotekun operatives were on their trail and threatened to kill our father if we did not tell them to back down.

“My father, while pleading for help, also said the kidnappers are aware that the Amotekun officials and hunters are combing the bush and that their informant usually updates them as to when to go deeper inside the bush.”

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said, “An investigation is ongoing. Updates would be provided accordingly.”

PoliticsMatawalle, others Advise Buhari Not To Offer Emefiele Study Leave. by Primeblog(op): 2:09am On May 16, 2023
Civil Society Organizations have reacted angrily to allegations that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, is contemplating a 10-month study leave.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, requested the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), “not to approve any study leave or any other kind of leave for any officer critical to the take-off of the incoming administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

“One of those rumored in the media to have sought a study leave is Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele.”

“The CBN Governor, Emefiele, was in charge of the country’s financial and monetary systems.” He is the one who conceived and implemented the recent terrible currency swap policy, as well as the naira confiscation scheme, which caused immeasurable misery and agony for Nigerians and set our economy backwards.

“Two of my brother-governors and I took the Federal Government to court over this ill-advised policy and fought tenaciously until we got Emefiele and company to back down.”

This same Emefiele now wants to go on study leave with only 10 months left on his contract, ostensibly to avoid rendering accounts. This is intolerable. This should not be tolerated by President Buhari. Emefiele must continue on the job in order to provide the future administration with comprehensive details of everything that occurred during his tenure. He must address whatever questions that the next regime may have for him, especially because he still has a few months left on his contract.”

Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, Executive Director of CISLAC and Country Director of Transparency International Nigeria, also reacted, saying, “This is part of the political corruption we’re talking about.” Anyone requesting study leave at this time is attempting to avoid accountability.

According to the Code of Conduct Act, all those who served during this administration are required to reveal all of their assets to the nation, even if the President enables them to flee the country. I’d like to urge embassies to reject visas to people accused of corruption, much as the UK does with those accused of electoral fraud.”

Similarly, Mr Debo Adeniran, Chairman of the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, stated that the CBN governor, who has served in two consecutive administrations, has to give his accounts before being permitted to resign or move.

Attempts to reach the CBN’s Acting Director of Corporate Communication, Dr Abdulmumin Isa, for comment on the accusation were futile because he did not return calls, texts, or Whatsapp messages.

PoliticsBREAKING: US To Impose Visa Ban On Nigerians Undermining Democracy by Primeblog(op): 1:50am On May 16, 2023
The US government has stated that it has taken efforts to impose visa restrictions on specific persons in Nigeria for subverting the democratic process during the Nigerian election cycle in 2023.

This was revealed in a statement issued by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Monday and published on the US government’s website.

“Today, I am announcing that we have taken steps to impose visa restrictions on specific individuals in Nigeria for undermining the democratic process during Nigeria’s 2023 elections cycle.”

While stating that “the United States is committed to supporting and advancing democracy in Nigeria and around the world,” Blinken went on to say that the visa restrictions “are specific to certain individuals and are not directed at the Nigerian people or the government of Nigeria as a whole.”

“Under Section 212(a)(3)C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, these individuals will be subject to visa restrictions to the United States under a policy that covers those believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining democracy,” Blinken continued.

However, as at the time of submitting this report, no individual’s name had been revealed.

“These individuals have been involved in voter intimidation through threats and physical violence, vote rigging, and other activities that undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.”

The US government stated that the decision to impose visa restrictions reflects the US government’s continued commitment to supporting Nigerian objectives to promote democracy and the rule of law.
